1 Çok sayıda hayvanı olan Rubenliler'le Gadlılar Yazer ve Gilat topraklarının hayvanlar için uygun bir yer olduğunu gördüler.
Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle; and they saw the land of Ya'zer, and the land of Gil'ad, that, behold, the place was a place for cattle.
2 Musa'yla Kâhin Elazar'a ve topluluğun önderlerine giderek, “RAB'bin yardımıyla İsrail halkının ele geçirdiği Atarot, Divon, Yazer, Nimra, Heşbon, Elale, Sevam, Nevo, Beon kentlerini içeren bölge hayvanlar için uygun bir yer” dediler, “Kullarınızın da hayvanları var.
And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came, and said unto Moses, and unto Elazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, as followeth,
'Ataroth, and Dibon, and Ya'zer, and Nimrah, and Cheshbon, and El'aleh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Be'on,
The country which the Lord hath smitten before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle; and thy servants have cattle.
5 Bizden hoşnut kaldıysanız, bu ülkeyi mülk olarak bize verin ki, Şeria Irmağı'nın karşı yakasına geçmek zorunda kalmayalım.”
And they said, If we have found grace in thy eyes, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession: do not compel us to go over the Jordan.
6 Musa, “İsrailli kardeşleriniz savaşa giderken siz burada mı kalacaksınız?” diye karşılık verdi,
And Moses said unto the children of Gad, and unto the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to the war, and will ye sit here?
7 “RAB'bin kendilerine vereceği ülkeye giden İsrailliler'in neden cesaretini kırıyorsunuz?
And wherefore will you turn aside the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the Lord hath given them?
8 Ülkeyi araştırsınlar diye Kadeş-Barnea'dan gönderdiğim babalarınız da aynı şeyi yaptılar.
Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea' to see the land.
9 Eşkol Vadisi'ne kadar gidip ülkeyi gördükten sonra, RAB'bin kendilerine vereceği ülkeye gitmemeleri için İsrailliler'in gözünü korkuttular.
For they went up as far as the valley of Eshcol, and they saw the land, and then they turned aside the heart of the children of Israel, so that they would not go into the land which the Lord had given them.
10 O gün RAB öfkelenerek şöyle ant içti:
And the anger of the Lord was kindled on that day, and he swore, saying,
11 ‘Madem bütün yürekleriyle ardımca yürümediler, Mısır'dan çıkanlardan yirmi ve daha yukarı yaştakilerin hiçbiri İbrahim'e, İshak'a, Yakup'a ant içerek söz verdiğim ülkeyi görmeyecek.
Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I swore unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:
12 Kenaz soyundan Yefunne oğlu Kalev'le Nun oğlu Yeşu'dan başkası orayı görmeyecek. Çünkü onlar bütün yürekleriyle ardımca yürüdüler.’
Save Caleb the son of Yephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; for they have wholly followed the Lord.
13 İsrailliler'e öfkelenen RAB, gözünde kötülük yapan o kuşak büsbütün yok oluncaya dek kırk yıl onları çölde dolaştırdı.
And the anger of the Lord was thus kindled against Israel, and he made them wander about in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation was spent, that had done the evil in the eyes of the Lord.
14 “İşte, ey günahkârlar soyu, babalarınızın yerine siz geçtiniz ve RAB'bin İsrail'e daha çok öfkelenmesine neden oluyorsunuz.
And now, behold, ye are risen up in your father's stead, a new race of sinful men, to augment yet more the fierce anger of the Lord toward Israel.
15 Eğer O'nun ardınca yürümekten vazgeçerseniz, bütün bu halkı yine çölde bırakacak; siz de bu halkın yok olmasına neden olacaksınız.”
For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet longer leave them in the wilderness; and ye will thus be destruction to all this people.
16 Gadlılar'la Rubenliler Musa'ya yaklaşıp, “Burada hayvanlarımız için ağıllar yapmamıza, çocuklarımız için yeniden kentler kurmamıza izin ver” dediler,
And they came near unto him, and said, Sheepfolds will we build for our cattle here, and cities for our little ones;
17 “Kendimiz de hemen silahlanıp İsrailliler'i kendilerinin olacak ülkeye götürünceye dek onlara öncülük edeceğiz. Ülke halkı yüzünden çocuklarımız surlu kentlerde yaşayacak.
But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until that we have brought them unto their place; and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities, because of the inhabitants of the land.
18 Her İsrailli mülküne kavuşmadan evlerimize dönmeyeceğiz.
We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have acquired for themselves every man his inheritance.
19 Şeria Irmağı'nın karşı yakasında onlarla birlikte mülk almayacağız, çünkü bizim payımız Şeria Irmağı'nın doğu yakasına düştü.”
For we will not take possession with them on the other side of the Jordan, and farther on: when our inheritance hath come to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.
20 Musa şöyle yanıtladı: “Bu söylediklerinizi yapar, RAB'bin önünde savaşa gitmek üzere silahlanıp
And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will arm yourselves before the Lord for the war;
21 RAB düşmanlarını kovuncaya dek hepiniz O'nun önünde Şeria Irmağı'nın karşı yakasına silahlı olarak geçerseniz,
And every armed man of you will go over the Jordan before the Lord, until he have driven out his enemies from before him;
22 ülke ele geçirildiğinde dönebilir, RAB'be ve İsrail'e karşı yükümlülüğünüzden özgür olursunuz. RAB'bin önünde bu topraklar sizin olacaktır.
And when, only after the land hath been subdued before the Lord, ye will return, and ye be thus guiltless before the Lord, and before Israel: then shall this land be yours for a possession before the Lord.
23 “Ama söylediklerinizi yapmazsanız, RAB'be karşı günah işlemiş olursunuz; günahınızın cezasını çekeceğinizi bilmelisiniz.
But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord; and ye shall experience the punishment of your sin which will overtake you.
24 Çocuklarınız için yeniden kentler kurun, davarlarınız için ağıllar yapın. Yeter ki, verdiğiniz sözü yerine getirin.”
Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and folds for your flocks; and that which hath proceeded out of your mouth shall ye do.
25 Gadlılar'la Rubenliler, “Efendimiz, bize buyurduğun gibi yapacağız” diye yanıtladılar,
And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben said unto Moses, as followeth, Thy servants will do as my Lord commandeth.
26 “Çoluk çocuğumuz, sığırlarımızla öbür hayvanlarımız burada, Gilat kentlerinde kalacak.
Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall remain there in the cities of Gil'ad;
27 Ama buyurduğun gibi, silahlanmış olan herkes RAB'bin önünde savaşmak üzere karşı yakaya geçecek.”
But thy servants will pass over, every one that is armed for the army, before the Lord, to the war, as my Lord speaketh.
28 Musa Gadlılar'la Rubenliler hakkında Kâhin Elazar'a, Nun oğlu Yeşu'ya ve İsrail oymaklarının aile başlarına buyruk verdi.
And Moses commanded concerning them Elazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chiefs of the families of the tribes of the children of Israel;
29 Şöyle dedi: “Gadlılar'la Rubenliler'den silahlanmış olan herkes RAB'bin önünde sizinle birlikte Şeria Irmağı'nın karşı yakasına geçerse, ülkeyi de ele geçirirseniz, Gilat bölgesini miras olarak onlara vereceksiniz.
And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben do pass with you over the Jordan, every one that is armed for the war, before the Lord, and the land shall be subdued before you: then shall ye give to them the land of Gil'ad for a possession;
30 Ama silahlanmış olarak sizinle ırmağın karşı yakasına geçmezlerse, Kenan ülkesinde sizinle miras alacaklar.”
But if they should not pass over armed with you, they shall take possessions among you in the land of Canaan.
31 Gadlılar'la Rubenliler, “RAB'bin bize buyurduğunu yapacağız” dediler,
And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, That which the Lord hath spoken concerning thy servants, even so will we do.
32 “Silahlanmış olarak RAB'bin önünde Kenan ülkesine gideceğiz. Ama alacağımız mülk Şeria Irmağı'nın doğu yakasında olacak.”
We will indeed pass over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, while ours remaineth the possession of our inheritance on this side of the Jordan.
33 Böylece Musa Gadlılar'la Rubenliler'e ve Yusuf oğlu Manaşşe oymağının yarısına Amorlular'ın Kralı Sihon'un ülkesiyle Başan Kralı Og'un ülkesini ve çevrelerindeki topraklarla kentleri verdi.
And Moses gave unto them, to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Menasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sichon, the king of the Emorites, and the kingdom of 'Og, the king of Bashan, the land, with its cities within the boundaries, the cities of the country round about.
34 Gadlılar surlu Divon, Atarot, Aroer, Atrot-Şofan, Yazer, Yogboha, Beytnimra ve Beytharan kentlerini yeniden kurdular, davarları için ağıllar yaptılar.
And the children of Gad built Dibon, and 'Ataroth, and 'Aro'er,
And 'Atroth-shophan, and Ya'zer, and Yogbehah.
And Beth-nimrah, and Beth-haran, fortified cities, and folds for flocks,
37 Rubenliler Heşbon, Elale, Kiryatayim, Nevo, Baal-Meon –bu son iki ad değiştirildi– ve Sivma kentlerini yeniden kurdular. Kurdukları kentlere yeni adlar verdiler.
And the children of Reuben built Cheshbon, and El'aleh, and Kiryathayim,
And Nebo, and Ba'al-me'on [their names being changed], and Shibmah; and they gave the former names unto the cities which they built.
39 Manaşşe oğlu Makir'in soyundan gelenler gidip Gilat'ı ele geçirerek, orada yaşayan Amorlular'ı kovdular.
And the children of Machir the son of Menasseh went to Gil'ad, and conquered it, and dispossessed the Emorites who were in it.
40 Böylece Musa Gilat'ı Manaşşe oğlu Makir'in soyundan gelenlere verdi; onlar da oraya yerleştiler.
And Moses gave Gil'ad unto Machir the son of Menasseh; and he dwelt therein.
41 Manaşşe soyundan Yair gidip Amorlular'ın yerleşim birimlerini ele geçirdi ve bunlara Havvot-Yair adını verdi.
And Yair the son of Menasseh went and conquered the small towns thereof, and called them Chavoth-yair.
42 Novah da Kenat'la çevresindeki köyleri ele geçirerek oraya kendi adını verdi.
And Nobach went and conquered Kenath, and the villages thereof, and called it Nobach, after his own name.
