Matta 6
1 “Doğruluğunuzu insanların gözü önünde gösteriş amacıyla sergilemekten kaçının. Yoksa göklerdeki Babanız'dan ödül alamazsınız.
But take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen by them; otherwise ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.
2 “Bu nedenle, birisine sadaka verirken bunu borazan çaldırarak ilan etmeyin. İkiyüzlüler, insanların övgüsünü kazanmak için havralarda ve sokaklarda böyle yaparlar. Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, onlar ödüllerini almışlardır.
Therefore when thou doest alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
3 Siz sadaka verirken, sol eliniz sağ elinizin ne yaptığını bilmesin.
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth;
4 Öyle ki, verdiğiniz sadaka gizli kalsın. Gizlice yapılanı gören Babanız sizi ödüllendirecektir.”
that thine alms may be in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
5 “Dua ettiğiniz zaman ikiyüzlüler gibi olmayın. Onlar, herkes kendilerini görsün diye havralarda ve caddelerin köşe başlarında dikilip dua etmekten zevk alırlar. Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, onlar ödüllerini almışlardır.
And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
6 Ama siz dua edeceğiniz zaman iç odanıza çekilip kapıyı örtün ve gizlide olan Babanız'a dua edin. Gizlilik içinde yapılanı gören Babanız sizi ödüllendirecektir.
But do thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and, when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
7 Dua ettiğinizde, putperestler gibi boş sözler tekrarlayıp durmayın. Onlar söz kalabalığıyla seslerini duyurabileceklerini sanırlar.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for the multitude of their words.
8 Siz onlara benzemeyin! Çünkü Babanız nelere gereksinmeniz olduğunu siz daha O'ndan dilemeden önce bilir.
Be not ye therefore like them; for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 “Bunun için siz şöyle dua edin: ‘Göklerdeki Babamız, Adın kutsal kılınsın.
After this manner therefore pray ye: —Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
10 Egemenliğin gelsin. Gökte olduğu gibi, yeryüzünde de Senin istediğin olsun.
thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven;
11 Bugün bize gündelik ekmeğimizi ver.
give us this day our daily bread;
12 Bize karşı suç işleyenleri bağışladığımız gibi, Sen de bizim suçlarımızı bağışla.
and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors;
13 Ayartılmamıza izin verme. Bizi kötü olandan kurtar. Çünkü egemenlik, güç ve yücelik Sonsuzlara dek senindir! Amin’.
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
14 “Başkalarının suçlarını bağışlarsanız, göksel Babanız da sizin suçlarınızı bağışlar.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you;
15 Ama siz başkalarının suçlarını bağışlamazsanız, Babanız da sizin suçlarınızı bağışlamaz.”
but if ye do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
16 “Oruç tuttuğunuz zaman, ikiyüzlüler gibi surat asmayın. Onlar oruç tuttuklarını insanlara belli etmek için kendilerine perişan bir görünüm verirler. Size doğrusunu söyleyeyim, onlar ödüllerini almışlardır.
Moreover, when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance; for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly do I say to you, They have received their reward.
17 Siz oruç tuttuğunuz zaman, başınıza yağ sürüp yüzünüzü yıkayın.
But do thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face;
18 Öyle ki, insanlara değil, gizlide olan Babanız'a oruçlu görünesiniz. Gizlilik içinde yapılanı gören Babanız sizi ödüllendirecektir.”
that thou appear not to men to be fasting, but to thy Father who is in secret; and thy Father, who seeth in secret, will reward thee.
19 “Yeryüzünde kendinize hazineler biriktirmeyin. Burada güve ve pas onları yiyip bitirir, hırsızlar da girip çalarlar.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth, where the moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal;
20 Bunun yerine kendinize gökte hazineler biriktirin. Orada ne güve ne pas onları yiyip bitirir, ne de hırsızlar girip çalar.
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumeth, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
21 Hazineniz neredeyse, yüreğiniz de orada olacaktır.
For where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also.
22 “Bedenin ışığı gözdür. Gözünüz sağlamsa, bütün bedeniniz aydınlık olur.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If thine eye he clear, thy whole body will be in light;
23 Gözünüz bozuksa, bütün bedeniniz karanlık olur. Buna göre, içinizdeki ‘ışık’ karanlıksa, ne korkunçtur o karanlık!
but if thine eye be disordered, thy whole body will be in darkness. If then the light that is within thee is darkness, how great that darkness!
24 “Hiç kimse iki efendiye kulluk edemez. Ya birinden nefret edip öbürünü sever, ya da birine bağlanıp öbürünü hor görür. Siz hem Tanrı'ya, hem de paraya kulluk edemezsiniz.”
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate one, and love the other; or else he will cleave to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
25 “Bu nedenle size şunu söylüyorum: ‘Ne yiyip ne içeceğiz?’ diye canınız için, ‘Ne giyeceğiz?’ diye bedeniniz için kaygılanmayın. Can yiyecekten, beden de giyecekten daha önemli değil mi?
Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?
26 Gökte uçan kuşlara bakın! Ne eker, ne biçer, ne de ambarlarda yiyecek biriktirirler. Göksel Babanız yine de onları doyurur. Siz onlardan çok daha değerli değil misiniz?
Behold the birds of the air, that they sow not, nor reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much greater value than they?
27 Hangi biriniz kaygılanmakla ömrünü bir anlık uzatabilir?
But who of you by anxious thought can add to his life one cubit?
28 Giyecek konusunda neden kaygılanıyorsunuz? Kır zambaklarının nasıl büyüdüğüne bakın! Ne çalışırlar, ne de iplik eğirirler.
And why are ye anxious about raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They toil not, neither do they spin;
29 Ama size şunu söyleyeyim, bütün görkemine karşın Süleyman bile bunlardan biri gibi giyinmiş değildi.
and yet I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these.
30 Bugün var olup yarın ocağa atılacak olan kır otunu böyle giydiren Tanrı'nın sizi de giydireceği çok daha kesin değil mi, ey kıt imanlılar?
And if God so clothes the herbage of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into an oven, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 “Öyleyse, ‘Ne yiyeceğiz?’ ‘Ne içeceğiz?’ ya da ‘Ne giyeceğiz?’ diyerek kaygılanmayın.
Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat, or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we he clothed?
32 Uluslar hep bu şeylerin peşinden giderler. Oysa göksel Babanız bütün bunlara gereksinmeniz olduğunu bilir.
For after all these things do the gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 Siz öncelikle O'nun egemenliğinin ve doğruluğunun ardından gidin, o zaman size bütün bunlar da verilecektir.
But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will also be given you.
34 O halde yarın için kaygılanmayın. Yarının kaygısı yarının olsun. Her günün derdi kendine yeter.”
Be not then anxious about the morrow; for the morrow will be anxious about itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.
