Luka 2
1 O günlerde Sezar Avgustus bütün Roma dünyasında bir nüfus sayımının yapılması için buyruk çıkardı.
And it came to pass in those days, there went forth a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world be registered—
2 Bu ilk sayım, Kirinius'un Suriye valiliği zamanında yapıldı.
this census first came to pass when Quirinius was governor of Syria—
3 Herkes yazılmak için kendi kentine gitti.
and all were going to be registered, each to his proper city,
4 Böylece Yusuf da, Davut'un soyundan ve torunlarından olduğu için Celile'nin Nasıra Kenti'nden Yahudiye bölgesine, Davut'un kenti Beytlehem'e gitti.
and Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, that is called Beth-Lehem, because of his being of the house and family of David,
5 Orada, hamile olan nişanlısı Meryem'le birlikte yazılacaktı.
to register himself with Mary his betrothed wife, being with Child.
6 Onlar oradayken, Meryem'in doğurma vakti geldi ve ilk oğlunu doğurdu. O'nu kundağa sarıp bir yemliğe yatırdı. Çünkü handa yer yoktu.
And it came to pass, in their being there, the days were fulfilled for her bringing forth,
and she brought forth her Son—the firstborn, and wrapped Him up, and laid Him down in the manger, because there was not a place for them in the guest-chamber.
8 Aynı yörede, sürülerinin yanında nöbet tutarak geceyi kırlarda geçiren çobanlar vardı.
And there were shepherds in the same region, lodging in the field and keeping the night-watches over their flock,
9 Rab'bin bir meleği onlara göründü ve Rab'bin görkemi çevrelerini aydınlattı. Büyük bir korkuya kapıldılar.
and behold, a messenger of the LORD stood over them, and the glory of the LORD shone around them, and they feared [with] a great fear.
10 Melek onlara, “Korkmayın!” dedi. “Size, bütün halkı çok sevindirecek bir haber müjdeliyorum: Bugün size, Davut'un kentinde bir Kurtarıcı doğdu. Bu, Rab olan Mesih'tir.
And the messenger said to them, “Do not fear, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be to all the people,
because today in the city of David a Savior was born to you, who is Christ the LORD!
12 İşte size bir işaret: Kundağa sarılmış ve yemlikte yatan bir bebek bulacaksınız.”
And this [is] the sign to you: you will find a Baby wrapped up, lying in the manger.”
13 Birdenbire meleğin yanında, göksel ordulardan oluşan büyük bir topluluk belirdi. Tanrı'yı överek, “En yücelerde Tanrı'ya yücelik olsun, Yeryüzünde O'nun hoşnut kaldığı insanlara Esenlik olsun!” dediler.
And suddenly there came with the messenger a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying,
“Glory in the highest to God, and on earth peace, among men—good will!”
15 Melekler yanlarından ayrılıp göğe çekildikten sonra çobanlar birbirlerine, “Haydi, Beytlehem'e gidelim, Rab'bin bize bildirdiği bu olayı görelim” dediler.
And it came to pass, when the messengers were gone away from them to the heavens, that the men, the shepherds, said to one another, “We may indeed go over to Beth-Lehem and see this thing that has come to pass, that the LORD made known to us!”
16 Aceleyle gidip Meryem'le Yusuf'u ve yemlikte yatan bebeği buldular.
And they came, having hurried, and found both Mary, and Joseph, and the Baby lying in the manger,
17 Onları görünce, çocukla ilgili kendilerine anlatılanları bildirdiler.
and having seen, they made known abroad concerning the saying spoken to them concerning the Child.
18 Bunu duyanların hepsi, çobanların söylediklerine şaşıp kaldılar.
And all who heard [it] wondered concerning the things spoken to them by the shepherds;
19 Meryem ise bütün bu sözleri derin derin düşünerek yüreğinde saklıyordu.
and Mary was preserving all these things, pondering [them] in her heart;
20 Çobanlar, işitip gördüklerinin tümü için Tanrı'yı yüceltip överek geri döndüler. Her şeyi, kendilerine anlatıldığı gibi bulmuşlardı.
and the shepherds turned back, glorifying and praising God for all those things they heard and saw, as it was spoken to them.
21 Sekizinci gün, çocuğu sünnet etme zamanı gelince, O'na İsa adı verildi. Bu, O'nun anne rahmine düşmesinden önce meleğin kendisine verdiği isimdi.
And when eight days were fulfilled to circumcise the Child, then was His Name called Jesus, having been so called by the messenger before His being conceived in the womb.
22 Musa'nın Yasası'na göre arınma günlerinin bitiminde Yusuf'la Meryem çocuğu Rab'be adamak için Yeruşalim'e götürdüler.
And when the days of their purification were fulfilled, according to the Law of Moses, they brought Him up to Jerusalem, to present to the LORD,
23 Nitekim Rab'bin Yasası'nda, “İlk doğan her erkek çocuk Rab'be adanmış sayılacak” diye yazılmıştır.
as it has been written in the Law of the LORD: “Every male opening a womb will be called holy to the LORD,”
24 Ayrıca Rab'bin Yasası'nda buyrulduğu gibi, kurban olarak “bir çift kumru ya da iki güvercin yavrusu” sunacaklardı.
and to give a sacrifice, according to that said in the Law of the LORD: “A pair of turtle-doves, or two young pigeons.”
25 O sırada Yeruşalim'de Şimon adında bir adam vardı. Doğru ve dindar biriydi. İsrail'in avutulmasını özlemle bekliyordu. Kutsal Ruh onun üzerindeydi.
And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name [is] Simeon, and this man is righteous and devout, looking for the comforting of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him,
26 Rab'bin Mesihi'ni görmeden ölmeyeceği Kutsal Ruh aracılığıyla kendisine bildirilmişti.
and it has been divinely told him by the Holy Spirit—not to see death before he may see the Christ of the LORD.
27 Böylece Şimon, Ruh'un yönlendirmesiyle tapınağa geldi. Küçük İsa'nın annesi babası, Kutsal Yasa'nın ilgili kuralını yerine getirmek üzere O'nu içeri getirdiklerinde, Şimon O'nu kucağına aldı, Tanrı'yı överek şöyle dedi:
And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and in the parents bringing in the child Jesus, for their doing according to the custom of the Law regarding Him,
then he took Him in his arms, and blessed God, and he said,
29 “Ey Rabbim, verdiğin sözü tuttun; Artık ben, kulun huzur içinde ölebilirim.
“Now You send Your servant away, O LORD, according to Your word, in peace,
30 Çünkü senin sağladığın, Bütün halkların gözü önünde hazırladığın kurtuluşu, Ulusları aydınlatıp Halkın İsrail'e yücelik kazandıracak ışığı Gözlerimle gördüm.”
because my eyes saw Your salvation,
which You prepared before the face of all the peoples,
a light to the uncovering of nations, and the glory of Your people Israel.”
33 İsa'nın annesiyle babası, O'nun hakkında söylenenlere şaştılar.
And Joseph and His mother were wondering at the things spoken concerning Him,
34 Şimon onları kutsayıp çocuğun annesi Meryem'e şöyle dedi: “Bu çocuk, İsrail'de birçok kişinin düşmesine ya da yükselmesine yol açmak ve aleyhinde konuşulacak bir belirti olmak üzere belirlenmiştir.
and Simeon blessed them and said to His mother Mary, “Behold, this [One] is set for the falling and rising again of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against—
35 Senin kalbine de adeta bir kılıç saplanacak. Bütün bunlar, birçoklarının yüreğindeki düşüncelerin açığa çıkması için olacak.”
(and also a sword will pass through your own soul)—that the reasonings of many hearts may be revealed.”
36 Anna adında çok yaşlı bir kadın peygamber vardı. Aşer oymağından Fanuel'in kızıydı. Genç kız olarak evlenip kocasıyla yedi yıl yaşadıktan sonra dul kalmıştı. Şimdi seksen dört yaşındaydı. Tapınaktan ayrılmaz, oruç tutup dua ederek gece gündüz Tanrı'ya tapınırdı.
And there was Anna, a prophetess, daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, she was much advanced in days, having lived with a husband seven years from her virginity,
and she [is] a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, serving with fasts and supplications, night and day,
38 Tam o sırada ortaya çıkan Anna, Tanrı'ya şükrederek Yeruşalim'in kurtuluşunu bekleyen herkese İsa'dan söz etmeye başladı.
and she, at that hour, having come in, was confessing, likewise, to the LORD, and was speaking concerning Him to all those looking for redemption in Jerusalem.
39 Yusuf'la Meryem, Rab'bin Yasası'nda öngörülen her şeyi yerine getirdikten sonra Celile'ye, kendi kentleri Nasıra'ya döndüler.
And when they completed all things according to the Law of the LORD, they turned back to Galilee, to their city of Nazareth;
40 Çocuk büyüyor, güçleniyor ve bilgelikte yetkinleşiyordu. Tanrı'nın lütfu O'nun üzerindeydi.
and the Child grew and was strengthened in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on Him.
41 İsa'nın annesi babası her yıl Fısıh Bayramı'nda Yeruşalim'e giderlerdi.
And His parents were going yearly to Jerusalem, at the Celebration of the Passover,
42 İsa on iki yaşına gelince, bayram geleneğine uyarak yine gittiler.
and when He became twelve years old, they having gone up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the celebration,
43 Bayramdan sonra eve dönerlerken küçük İsa Yeruşalim'de kaldı. Bunu farketmeyen annesiyle babası, çocuğun yol arkadaşlarıyla birlikte olduğunu sanarak bir günlük yol gittiler. Sonra O'nu akrabalar ve dostlar arasında aramaya başladılar.
and having finished the days, in their returning the child Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and Joseph and His mother did not know,
and having supposed Him to be in the company, they went a day’s journey, and were seeking Him among the relatives and among the acquaintances,
45 Bulamayınca O'nu araya araya Yeruşalim'e döndüler.
and having not found Him, they turned back to Jerusalem seeking Him.
46 Üç gün sonra O'nu tapınakta buldular. Din öğretmenleri arasında oturmuş, onları dinliyor, sorular soruyordu.
And it came to pass, after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both hearing them and questioning them,
47 O'nu dinleyen herkes, zekâsına ve verdiği yanıtlara hayran kalıyordu.
and all those hearing Him were astonished at His understanding and answers.
48 Annesiyle babası O'nu görünce şaşırdılar. Annesi, “Çocuğum, bize bunu niçin yaptın? Bak, babanla ben büyük kaygı içinde seni arayıp durduk” dedi.
And having seen Him, they were amazed, and His mother said to Him, “Child, why did You do this to us? Behold, Your father and I, sorrowing, were seeking You.”
49 O da onlara, “Beni niçin arayıp durdunuz?” dedi. “Babam'ın evinde bulunmam gerektiğini bilmiyor muydunuz?”
And He said to them, “Why [is it] that you were seeking Me? Did you not know that it is necessary for Me to be in the things of My Father?”
50 Ne var ki onlar ne demek istediğini anlamadılar.
And they did not understand the saying that He spoke to them,
51 İsa onlarla birlikte yola çıkıp Nasıra'ya döndü. Onların sözünü dinlerdi. Annesi bütün bu olup bitenleri yüreğinde sakladı.
and He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and He was subject to them, and His mother was keeping all these sayings in her heart,
52 İsa bilgelikte ve boyda gelişiyor, Tanrı'nın ve insanların beğenisini kazanıyordu.
and Jesus was advancing in wisdom, and in stature, and in favor with God and men.
