Eyüp 35

1 Elihu konuşmasına şöyle devam etti:

Moreover Elihu proceeded, and said:

2 “‘Tanrı'nın önünde haklıyım’ diyorsun. Doğru buluyor musun bunu?

Dost thou then think this to be right? Thou hast said, “I am more righteous than God.”

3 Ama hâlâ, ‘Günah işlemezsem Yararım ne, kazancım ne?’ diye soruyorsun.

For thou askest, “What advantage have I? What have I gained, more than if I had sinned?”

4 “Ben yanıtlayayım seni Ve arkadaşlarını.

I will answer thee, And thy companions with thee.

5 Göklere bak da gör, Üzerinde yükselen bulutlara göz gezdir.

Look up to the heavens, and see! And behold the clouds, which are high above thee!

6 Günah işlersen, Tanrı'ya ne zararı olur? İsyanların çoksa ne olur O'na?

If thou sinnest, what doest thou against Him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou to him?

7 Doğruysan, O'na verdiğin nedir, Ya da ne alır O senin elinden?

If thou art righteous, what dost thou give him? Or what receiveth he at thy hand?

8 Kötülüğün ancak senin gibi birine zarar verir, Doğruluğun ise yalnız insanoğlu içindir.

Thy wickedness injureth only a man like thyself, And thy righteousness profiteth only a son of man.

9 “İnsanlar ağır baskı altında feryat ediyor, Güçlülere karşı yardım istiyor.

The oppressed cry out on account of the multitude of wrongs; They cry aloud on account of the arm of the mighty.

10 Ama kimse, ‘Nerede Yaratıcım Tanrı?’ demiyor; O Tanrı ki, gece bize ezgiler verir,

But none saith, “Where is God, my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night;

11 Yeryüzündeki hayvanlardan çok bize öğretir Ve bizi gökteki kuşlardan daha bilge kılar.

Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the birds of heaven?”

12 Kötülerin gururu yüzünden insanlar feryat ediyor, Ama yanıtlayan yok.

There they cry aloud on account of the pride of the wicked; But he giveth no answer.

13 Gerçek şu ki, Tanrı boş feryadı dinlemez, Her Şeye Gücü Yeten bunu önemsemez.

For God will not hear the vain supplication, Nor will the Almighty regard it;

14 O'nu görmediğini söylediğin zaman bile Davan O'nun önündedir, bekle;

Much less when thou sayest thou canst not see him: Justice is with him, —only wait thou for him!

15 Madem bu öfkeyle şimdi cezalandırmadı, İsyana da pek aldırmaz diyorsun.

But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, Nor taken strict note of transgression,

16 Bu yüzden Eyüp ağzını boş yere açıyor, Bilgisizce konuştukça konuşuyor.”

Therefore hath Job opened his mouth rashly, And multiplied words without knowledge.
