1 Dinleyin şimdi ey zenginler, başınıza gelecek felaketlerden ötürü feryat edip ağlayın.
Come now, ye rich men, weep and wail for your miseries that are coming upon you.
2 Servetiniz çürümüş, giysinizi güve yemiştir.
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are become moth-eaten;
3 Altınlarınız, gümüşleriniz pas tutmuştur. Onların pası size karşı tanıklık edecek, etinizi ateş gibi yiyecek. Bu son çağda servetinize servet kattınız.
your gold and silver is rusted, and the rust of them will be a witness against you, and will eat your flesh as fire; ye have heaped up treasure in the last days!
4 İşte, ekinlerinizi biçen işçilerin haksızca alıkoyduğunuz ücretleri size karşı haykırıyor. Orakçıların feryadı Her Şeye Egemen Rab'bin kulağına erişti.
Behold, the hire of the laborers who reaped your fields, which is fraudulently kept back by you, crieth out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
5 Yeryüzünde zevk ve bolluk içinde yaşadınız. Boğazlanacağınız gün için kendinizi besiye çektiniz.
Ye have lived in luxury on the earth, and have been given to pleasure; ye have pampered your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6 Size karşı koymayan doğru kişiyi yargılayıp öldürdünüz.
Ye have condemned, ye have killed the just man; he doth not resist you.
7 Öyleyse kardeşler, Rab'bin gelişine dek sabredin. Bakın, çiftçi ilk ve son yağmurları alıncaya dek toprağın değerli ürününü nasıl sabırla bekliyor!
Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and is patient about it, until it hath received the early and latter rain.
8 Siz de sabredin. Yüreklerinizi güçlendirin. Çünkü Rab'bin gelişi yakındır.
Be ye also patient, establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Kardeşler, yargılanmamak için birbirinize karşı homurdanmayın. İşte, Yargıç kapının önünde duruyor.
Murmur not against each other, brethren, that ye be not judged. Behold, the Judge standeth before the door.
10 Kardeşler, Rab'bin adıyla konuşmuş olan peygamberleri sıkıntılarda sabır örneği olarak alın.
Take, brethren, the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, for an example of affliction, and of patience.
11 Sıkıntıya dayanmış olanları mutlu sayarız. Eyüp'ün nasıl dayandığını duydunuz. Rab'bin en sonunda onun için neler yaptığını bilirsiniz. Rab çok şefkatli ve merhametlidir.
Behold, we count those happy who have endured. Ye have heard of the patience of Job; behold also the end of the Lord, that he is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
12 Kardeşlerim, öncelikle şunu söyleyeyim: Ne gök üzerine, ne yer üzerine, ne de başka bir şey üzerine ant için. “Evet”iniz evet, “hayır”ınız hayır olsun ki, yargıya uğramayasınız.
But above all things, my brethren, swear not; neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your yea be yea, and your nay, nay; that ye fall not under condemnation.
13 İçinizden biri sıkıntıda mı, dua etsin. Sevinçli mi, ilahi söylesin.
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any cheerful? let him sing praise.
14 İçinizden biri hasta mı, kilisenin ihtiyarlarını çağırtsın; Rab'bin adıyla üzerine yağ sürüp onun için dua etsinler.
Is any sick among you? let him call to him the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 İmanla edilen dua hastayı iyileştirecek ve Rab onu ayağa kaldıracaktır. Eğer hasta günah işlemişse, günahları bağışlanacaktır.
And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; even if he have committed sins, it shall be forgiven him.
16 Bu nedenle, şifa bulmak için günahlarınızı birbirinize itiraf edin ve birbiriniz için dua edin. Doğru kişinin yalvarışı çok güçlü ve etkilidir.
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 İlyas da tıpkı bizim gibi insandı. Yağmur yağmaması için gayretle dua etti; üç yıl altı ay ülkeye yağmur yağmadı.
Elijah was a man of like nature with us, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth for three years and six months;
18 Yeniden dua etti; gök yağmurunu, toprak da ürününü verdi.
and again he prayed, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19 Kardeşlerim, içinizden biri gerçeğin yolundan sapar da başka biri onu yine gerçeğe döndürürse, bilsin ki, günahkârı sapık yolundan döndüren, ölümden bir can kurtarmış, bir sürü günahı örtmüş olur.
Brethren, if any one among you be led astray from the truth, and one convert him,
let him know that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
