Yaratiliş 4
1 Adem karısı Havva ile yattı. Havva hamile kaldı ve Kayin'i doğurdu. “RAB'bin yardımıyla bir oğul dünyaya getirdim” dedi.
And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bore Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
2 Daha sonra Kayin'in kardeşi Habil'i doğurdu. Habil çoban oldu, Kayin ise çiftçi.
And she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 Günler geçti. Bir gün Kayin toprağın ürünlerinden RAB'be sunu getirdi.
And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to the LORD.
4 Habil de sürüsünde ilk doğan hayvanlardan bazılarını, özellikle de yağlarını getirdi. RAB Habil'i ve sunusunu kabul etti.
And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect to Abel and to his offering:
5 Kayin'le sunusunu ise reddetti. Kayin çok öfkelendi, suratını astı.
But to Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 RAB Kayin'e, “Niçin öfkelendin?” diye sordu, “Niçin surat astın?
And the LORD said to Cain, Why are you wroth? and why is your countenance fallen?
7 Doğru olanı yapsan, seni kabul etmez miyim? Ancak doğru olanı yapmazsan, günah kapıda pusuya yatmış, seni bekliyor. Ona egemen olmalısın.”
If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And to you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him.
8 Kayin kardeşi Habil'e, “Haydi, tarlaya gidelim” dedi. Tarlada birlikteyken kardeşine saldırıp onu öldürdü.
And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 RAB Kayin'e, “Kardeşin Habil nerede?” diye sordu. Kayin, “Bilmiyorum, kardeşimin bekçisi miyim ben?” diye karşılık verdi.
And the LORD said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
10 RAB, “Ne yaptın?” dedi, “Kardeşinin kanı topraktan bana sesleniyor.
And he said, What have you done? the voice of your brother’s blood cries to me from the ground.
11 Artık döktüğün kardeş kanını içmek için ağzını açan toprağın laneti altındasın.
And now are you cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand;
12 İşlediğin toprak bundan böyle sana ürün vermeyecek. Yeryüzünde aylak aylak dolaşacaksın.”
When you till the ground, it shall not from now on yield to you her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shall you be in the earth.
13 Kayin, “Cezam kaldıramayacağım kadar ağır” diye karşılık verdi,
And Cain said to the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 “Bugün beni bu topraklardan kovdun. Artık huzurundan uzak kalacak, yeryüzünde aylak aylak dolaşacağım. Kim bulsa öldürecek beni.”
Behold, you have driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from your face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that finds me shall slay me.
15 Bunun üzerine RAB, “Seni kim öldürürse, ondan yedi kez öç alınacak” dedi. Kimse bulup öldürmesin diye Kayin'in üzerine bir nişan koydu.
And the LORD said to him, Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark on Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16 Kayin RAB'bin huzurundan ayrıldı. Aden bahçesinin doğusunda, Nod topraklarına yerleşti.
And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelled in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 Kayin karısıyla yattı. Karısı hamile kaldı ve Hanok'u doğurdu. Kayin o sırada bir kent kurmaktaydı. Kente oğlu Hanok'un adını verdi.
And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Enoch: and he built a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18 Hanok'tan İrat oldu. İrat'tan Mehuyael, Mehuyael'den Metuşael, Metuşael'den Lemek oldu.
And to Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
19 Lemek iki kadınla evlendi. Birinin adı Âda, öbürünün ise Silla'ydı.
And Lamech took to him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20 Âda Yaval'ı doğurdu. Yaval sürü sahibi göçebelerin atasıydı.
And Adah bore Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
21 Kardeşinin adı Yuval'dı. Yuval lir ve ney çalanların atasıydı.
And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
22 Silla Tuval-Kayin'i doğurdu. Tuval-Kayin tunç ve demirden çeşitli kesici aletler yapardı. Tuval-Kayin'in kızkardeşi Naama'ydı.
And Zillah, she also bore Tubalcain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
23 Lemek karılarına şöyle dedi: “Ey Âda ve Silla, beni dinleyin, Ey Lemek'in karıları, sözlerime kulak verin. Beni yaraladığı için Bir adam öldürdüm, Beni hırpaladığı için Bir genci öldürdüm.
And Lamech said to his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; you wives of Lamech, listen to my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
24 Kayin'in yedi kez öcü alınacaksa, Lemek'in yetmiş yedi kez öcü alınmalı.”
If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
25 Adem karısıyla yine yattı. Havva bir erkek çocuk doğurdu. “Tanrı Kayin'in öldürdüğü Habil'in yerine bana başka bir oğul bağışladı” diyerek çocuğa Şit adını verdi.
And Adam knew his wife again; and she bore a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 Şit'in de bir oğlu oldu, adını Enoş koydu. O zaman insanlar RAB'bi adıyla çağırmaya başladı.
And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call on the name of the LORD.
