Hezekiel 18
1 RAB bana şöyle seslendi:
The LORD’s word came to me again, saying,
2 “İsrail için, ‘Babalar koruk yedi, Çocukların dişleri kamaştı’ diyorsunuz. Bu deyişle ne demek istiyorsunuz?
“What do you mean, that you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge’?
3 “Varlığım hakkı için diyor Egemen RAB, İsrail'de artık bu deyişi ağzınıza almayacaksınız.
“As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “you shall not use this proverb any more in Israel.
4 Her yaşayan can benimdir. Babanın canı da, çocuğun canı da benimdir. Ölecek olan, günah işleyen candır.
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine. The soul who sins, he shall die.
5 “Diyelim ki, adil ve doğru olanı yapan doğru bir adam var.
“But if a man is just, and does that which is lawful and right,
6 Dağlarda putlara sunulan kurbandan yemez, İsrail halkının putlarına bel bağlamaz. Komşusunun karısını kirletmez, Âdet gören kadına yaklaşmaz.
and has not eaten on the mountains, has not lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbor’s wife, has not come near a woman in her impurity,
7 Kimseye haksızlık etmez, Rehin olarak aldığını geri verir, Soygunculuk etmez, Aç olana ekmeğini verir, Çıplağı giydirir.
and has not wronged any, but has restored to the debtor his pledge, has taken nothing by robbery, has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;
8 Faizle para vermez, Aşırı kâr gütmez. Elini kötülükten çeker, İki kişi arasında doğrulukla yargılar.
he who has not lent to them with interest, has not taken any increase from them, who has withdrawn his hand from iniquity, has executed true justice between man and man,
9 Kurallarımı izler, İlkelerimi özenle uygular. İşte böyle biri doğru kişidir. O yaşayacaktır. Egemen RAB böyle diyor.
has walked in my statutes, and has kept my ordinances, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live,” says the Lord GOD.
10 “Diyelim ki, bu adamın zorba, kan döken, Kardeşine bunlardan birini yapan bir oğlu var.
“If he fathers a son who is a robber who sheds blood, and who does any one of these things,
11 Babası bunlardan hiçbirini yapmazken, Oğul dağlarda putlara sunulan kurbandan yer, Komşusunun karısını kirletir.
or who does not do any of those things but has eaten at the mountain shrines and defiled his neighbor’s wife,
12 Düşküne, yoksula haksızlık eder, Soygunculuk eder, Rehini geri vermez. Putlara bel bağlar, İğrenç şeyler yapar.
has wronged the poor and needy, has taken by robbery, has not restored the pledge, and has lifted up his eyes to the idols, has committed abomination,
13 Faizle para verir, aşırı kâr güder. Böyle biri yaşayacak mı? Hayır, yaşamayacak! Bütün bu iğrençlikleri yapmıştır, öldürülecektir. Onun kanından kendisi sorumlu olacaktır.
has lent with interest, and has taken increase from the poor, shall he then live? He shall not live. He has done all these abominations. He shall surely die. His blood will be on him.
14 “Diyelim ki, bu oğulun da bir oğlu olur ve babasının işlediği bütün günahları görür, Ama hiçbirini yapmaz;
“Now, behold, if he fathers a son who sees all his father’s sins which he has done, and fears, and does not do likewise,

who has not eaten on the mountains, has not lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbor’s wife,
16 Kimseye haksızlık etmez, Rehin almaz, Soygunculuk etmez, Aç olana ekmeğini verir, Çıplağı giydirir.
has not wronged any, has not taken anything to pledge, has not taken by robbery, but has given his bread to the hungry, and has covered the naked with a garment;
17 Böyle biri elini kötülükten çeker, Faiz almaz, aşırı kâr gütmez, Kurallarımı izler, İlkelerimi uygularsa, Babasının günahı yüzünden ölmeyecek, Kesinlikle yaşayacaktır.
who has withdrawn his hand from the poor, who has not received interest or increase, has executed my ordinances, has walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father. He shall surely live.
18 Ama babası kendi günahı yüzünden ölecektir. Çünkü zorbalık etti, kardeşini soydu, Halkı arasında iyi olmayanı yaptı.
As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother, and did that which is not good among his people, behold, he will die in his iniquity.
19 “Ama siz, ‘Oğul neden babasının işlediği suçlardan sorumlu tutulmasın?’ dersiniz. Bu oğul adil ve doğru olanı yapmış, bütün kurallarımı dikkatle izlemiştir. Böyle biri kesinlikle yaşayacaktır.
“Yet you say, ‘Why does not the son bear the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done that which is lawful and right, and has kept all my statutes, and has done them, he will surely live.
20 Ölecek olan günah işleyen kişidir. Oğul babasının suçundan sorumlu tutulamaz, baba da oğlunun suçundan sorumlu tutulamaz. Doğru kişi doğruluğunun, kötü kişi kötülüğünün karşılığını alacaktır.
The soul who sins, he shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be on him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be on him.
21 “Kötü kişi işlediği bütün günahlardan döner, buyruklarıma uyar, adil ve doğru olanı yaparsa, kesinlikle yaşayacak, ölmeyecektir.
“But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die.
22 İşlediği günahlardan hiçbiri ona karşı anılmayacaktır. Doğruluğu sayesinde yaşayacaktır.
None of his transgressions that he has committed will be remembered against him. In his righteousness that he has done, he shall live.
23 Ben kötü kişinin ölümünden sevinç duymam, ancak kötü kişinin kötü yollarından dönüp yaşamasından sevinç duyarım. Egemen RAB böyle diyor.
Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked?” says the Lord GOD, “and not rather that he should return from his way, and live?
24 “Doğru kişi doğruluğundan döner, günah işler, kötü kişinin yaptığı bütün iğrenç şeyleri yaparsa, yaşayacak mı? Onun yaptığı doğru işlerin hiçbiri anılmayacaktır. Sadakatsizliği yüzünden suçludur, günahları yüzünden ölecektir.
“But when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, should he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done will be remembered. In his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them he shall die.
25 “Siz yine de, ‘Rab'bin yolu doğru değil’ diyorsunuz. Ey İsrail halkı, dinle: Benim yolum mu doğru değil? Doğru olmayan sizin yollarınız değil mi?
“Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not equal.’ Hear now, house of Israel: Is my way not equal? Are not your ways unequal?
26 Doğru kişi doğruluğundan döner de kötülük yaparsa, bu yüzden ölecek. Evet, işlediği günah yüzünden ölecektir.
When the righteous man turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies in it, then he dies in his iniquity that he has done.
27 Ama kötü kişi, yaptığı kötülükten döner, adil ve doğru olanı yaparsa, canını kurtaracaktır.
Again, when the wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed, and does that which is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive.
28 Çünkü isyanlarının farkına varıyor ve onlardan dönüyor. Böyle biri kesinlikle yaşayacak, ölmeyecektir.
Because he considers, and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he shall surely live. He shall not die.
29 Öyleyken, İsrail halkı, ‘Rab'bin yolu doğru değil’ diyor. Ey İsrail halkı, benim yollarım mı doğru değil? Doğru olmayan sizin yollarınız değil mi?
Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ House of Israel, are not my ways fair? Are not your ways unfair?
30 “Bu yüzden, ey İsrail halkı, sizleri, her birinizi yolunuza göre yargılayacağım. Egemen RAB böyle diyor. Dönün! İsyanlarınızdan dönün! Günahın sizi yıkıma sürüklemesine izin vermeyin.
“Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, everyone according to his ways,” says the Lord GOD. “Return, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions, so iniquity will not be your ruin.
31 İsyanlarınızı kendinizden uzaklaştırın. Yeni bir yürek, yeni bir ruh edinin. Neden öleceksin, ey İsrail halkı?
Cast away from you all your transgressions in which you have transgressed; and make yourself a new heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, house of Israel?
32 Çünkü ben kimsenin ölümünden sevinç duymam. Egemen RAB böyle diyor. Öyleyse günahınızdan dönün de yaşayın!”
For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn yourselves, and live!
