1 Saul ise Rab'bin öğrencilerine karşı hâlâ tehdit ve ölüm soluyordu. Başkâhine gitti, Şam'daki havralara verilmek üzere mektuplar yazmasını istedi. Orada İsa'nın yolunda yürüyen kadın erkek, kimi bulsa tutuklayıp Yeruşalim'e getirmek niyetindeydi.
And Saul yet brethynge oute threatnynges and slaughter agaynst ye disciples of the lorde went vnto ye hye preste
and desyred of him letters to Damasco to ye synagoges: that yf he founde eny of this waye whether they were men or wemen he myght bringe them bounde vnto Ierusalem.
3 Yol alıp Şam'a yaklaştığı sırada, birdenbire gökten gelen bir ışık çevresini aydınlattı.
But as he went on his iorney it fortuned yt he drue nye to Damasco and sodenly ther shyned rounde about him a lyght fro heven.
4 Yere yıkılan Saul, bir sesin kendisine, “Saul, Saul, neden bana zulmediyorsun?” dediğini işitti.
And he fell to ye erth and hearde a voyce sayinge to him: Saul Saul why persecutest thou me?
5 Saul, “Ey Efendim, sen kimsin?” dedi. “Ben senin zulmettiğin İsa'yım” diye yanıt geldi.
And he sayde what arte thou lorde? And the lorde sayd I am Iesus whom thou persecutest it shalbe harde for ye to kycke agaynst ye pricke.
6 “Haydi kalk ve kente gir, ne yapman gerektiği sana bildirilecek.”
And he bothe tremblynge and astonyed sayde: Lorde what wilt thou have me to do? And ye Lorde sayde vnto him: aryse and goo into the cite and it shalbe tolde the what thou shalt do.
7 Saul'la birlikte yolculuk eden adamların dilleri tutuldu, oldukları yerde kalakaldılar. Sesi duydularsa da, kimseyi göremediler.
The men which iornayed with him stode amased for they herde a voyce but sawe no man.
8 Saul yerden kalktı, ama gözlerini açtığında hiçbir şey göremiyordu. Sonra kendisini elinden tutup Şam'a götürdüler.
And Saul arose from the erth and opened his eyes but sawe no man. Then ledde they him by the honde and brought him into Damasco.
9 Üç gün boyunca gözleri görmeyen Saul hiçbir şey yiyip içmedi.
And he was. iii. dayes with out syght and nether ate nor dranke.
10 Şam'da Hananya adında bir İsa öğrencisi vardı. Bir görümde Rab ona, “Hananya!” diye seslendi. “Buradayım, ya Rab” dedi Hananya.
And ther was a certayne disciple at Damasco named Ananias and to him sayde the lorde in a vision: Ananias. And the he sayde: beholde I am here lorde.
11 Rab ona, “Kalk” dedi, “Doğru Sokak denilen sokağa git ve Yahuda'nın evinde Saul adında Tarsuslu birini sor. Şu anda orada dua ediyor.
And the lorde sayde to him: aryse and goo into the strete which is called strayght and seke in the housse of Iudas after one called Saul of Tharsus. For beholde he prayeth
12 Görümünde yanına Hananya adlı birinin geldiğini ve gözlerini açmak için ellerini kendisinin üzerine koyduğunu görmüştür.”
and hath sene in a vision a man named Ananias comynge in to him and puttynge his hondes on him that he myght receave his syght.
13 Hananya şöyle karşılık verdi: “Ya Rab, birçoklarının bu adam hakkında neler anlattıklarını duydum. Yeruşalim'de senin kutsallarına nice kötülük yapmış!
Then Ananias answered: Lorde I have hearde by many of this man how moche evell he hath done to thy sainctes at Ierusalem
14 Burada da senin adını anan herkesi tutuklamak için başkâhinlerden yetki almıştır.”
and here he hath auctorite of the hye prestes to bynde all that call on thy name.
15 Rab ona, “Git!” dedi. “Bu adam, benim adımı öteki uluslara, krallara ve İsrailoğulları'na duyurmak üzere seçilmiş bir aracımdır.
The lorde sayde vnto him: Goo thy wayes: for he is a chosen vessell vnto me to beare my name before the gentyls and kynges and the chyldren of Israel.
16 Benim adım uğruna ne kadar sıkıntı çekmesi gerekeceğini ona göstereceğim.”
For I will shewe him how great thinges he must suffre for my names sake.
17 Bunun üzerine Hananya gitti, eve girdi ve ellerini Saul'un üzerine koydu. “Saul kardeş” dedi, “Sen buraya gelirken yolda sana görünen Rab, yani İsa, gözlerin açılsın ve Kutsal Ruh'la dolasın diye beni yolladı.”
Ananias went his waye and entryd into ye housse and put his hondes on him and sayde: brother Saul the lorde that apperyd vnto the in the waye as thou camst hath sent me that thou myghtest receave thy syght and be filled with the holy goost.
18 O anda Saul'un gözlerinden balık pulunu andıran şeyler düştü. Saul yeniden görmeye başladı. Kalkıp vaftiz oldu.
And immediatly ther fell from his eyes as it had bene scales and he receaved syght and arose and was baptised
19 Sonra yemek yiyip kuvvet buldu. Saul birkaç gün Şam'daki öğrencilerin yanında kaldı.
and receaved meate and was comforted. Then was Saul a certayne daye wt the disciples which were at Damasco.
20 Havralarda İsa'nın Tanrı'nın Oğlu olduğunu hemen duyurmaya başladı.
And streyght waye he preached Christ in the synagoges how that he was the sonne of God.
21 Onu duyanların hepsi şaşkına döndü. “Yeruşalim'de bu adı ananları kırıp geçiren adam bu değil mi? Buraya da, öylelerini tutuklayıp başkâhinlere götürmek amacıyla gelmedi mi?” diyorlardı.
All that hearde him were amased and sayde: is not this he that spoyled the which called on this name in Ierusalem and came hyther for ye entent that he shuld bringe the bounde vnto the hye prestes?
22 Saul ise günden güne güçleniyordu. İsa'nın Mesih olduğuna dair kanıtlar göstererek Şam'da yaşayan Yahudiler'i şaşkına çeviriyordu.
But Saul encreased in stregth and confounded the Iewes which dwelte at Damasco affirminge that this was very Christ.
23 Aradan günler geçti. Yahudiler Saul'u öldürmek için bir düzen kurdular.
And after a good whyle ye Iewes toke counsell to gether to kyll him.
24 Ne var ki, kurdukları düzenle ilgili haber Saul'a ulaştı. Yahudiler onu öldürmek için gece gündüz kentin kapılarını gözlüyorlardı.
But their layinge awayte was knowen of Saul. And they watched at the gates daye and nyght to kyll him.
25 Ama Saul'un öğrencileri geceleyin kendisini aldılar, kentin surlarından sarkıttıkları bir küfe içinde aşağı indirdiler.
Then ye disciples toke him by night and put him thorow the wall and let him doune in a basket.
26 Saul Yeruşalim'e varınca oradaki öğrencilere katılmaya çalıştı. Ama hepsi ondan korkuyor, İsa'nın öğrencisi olduğuna inanamıyorlardı.
And when Saul was come to Ierusalem he assayde to cople him silfe with ye discyples and they were all afrayde of hym and beleued not that he was a disciple.
27 O zaman Barnaba onu alıp elçilere götürdü. Onlara, Saul'un Şam yolunda Rab'bi nasıl gördüğünü, Rab'bin de onunla konuştuğunu, Şam'da ise onun İsa adını nasıl korkusuzca duyurduğunu anlattı.
But Bernabas toke hym and brought hym to ye apostles and declared to the how he had sene ye Lorde in ye waye and had spoke wyth hym: and how he had done boldely at damasco in the name of Iesu.
28 Böylelikle Saul, Yeruşalim'de girip çıktıkları her yerde öğrencilerle birlikte bulunarak Rab'bin adını korkusuzca duyurmaya başladı.
And he had his conuersacion with them at Ierusalem
29 Dili Grekçe olan Yahudiler'le konuşup tartışıyordu. Ama onlar onu öldürmeyi tasarlıyorlardı.
and quit hym silfe boldly in the name of the lorde Iesu. And he spake and disputed wyth the grekes: and they went aboute to slee hym.
30 Kardeşler bunu öğrenince onu Sezariye'ye götürüp oradan Tarsus'a yolladılar.
But when the brethren knew of that they brought hym to cesarea and sent hym forth to Tharsus.
31 Bütün Yahudiye, Celile ve Samiriye'deki inanlılar topluluğu esenliğe kavuştu. Gelişen ve Rab korkusu içinde yaşayan topluluk Kutsal Ruh'un yardımıyla sayıca büyüyordu.
Then had ye congregacios rest thorowoute all Iewry and galile and Samary and were edified and walked in the feare of the lorde and multiplied by the comforte of the holy gost.
32 Bu arada her tarafı dolaşan Petrus, Lidda'da yaşayan kutsallara da uğradı.
And it chaunsed yt as Peter walked throughoute all quarters he ca to ye saynctes which dwelt at Lydda
33 Orada Eneas adında birine rastladı. Eneas felçliydi. Sekiz yıldan beri yatalaktı.
and there he foude a certayne ma namyd Eneas whych had kepte hys bed viii. yere sicke of the palsie.
34 Petrus ona, “Eneas, İsa Mesih seni iyileştiriyor” dedi. “Kalk, yatağını topla.” Eneas hemen ayağa kalktı.
Then sayde Peter vnto hym: Eneas Iesus Christ make ye whole. Aryse and make thy beed. And he arose immedyatly.
35 Lidda ve Şaron'da yaşayan herkes onu gördü ve Rab'be döndü.
And all that dwelt at lydda and assaron sawe hym and tourned to the lorde.
36 Yafa'da, İsa öğrencisi olan Tabita adında bir kadın vardı. Tabita, ceylan anlamına gelir. Bu kadın her zaman iyilik yapıp yoksullara yardım ederdi.
Ther was at Ioppe a certayne woma (whiche was a disciple named Tabitha which by interpretacion is called dorcas) the same was full of good workes and almes dedes which she did.
37 O günlerde hastalanıp öldü. Ölüsünü yıkayıp üst kattaki odaya koydular.
And it chaunsed in those dayes that she was sicke and dyed. When they had wesshed her and layd her in a chamber:
38 Lidda Yafa'ya yakın olduğundan, Petrus'un Lidda'da bulunduğunu duyan öğrenciler ona iki kişi yollayıp, “Vakit kaybetmeden yanımıza gel” diye yalvardılar.
Because Lydda was nye to Ioppa and the disciples had hearde that Peter was there they sent vnto hym desyrynge him that he wolde not be greved to come vnto them.
39 Petrus kalkıp onlarla birlikte gitti. Eve varınca onu üst kattaki odaya çıkardılar. Bütün dul kadınlar ağlayarak Petrus'un çevresinde toplandılar. Ona, Ceylan'ın kendileriyle birlikteyken diktiği entarilerle üstlükleri gösterdiler.
Peter arose and came with them and when he was come they brought him in to ye chamber. And all ye wydowes stode roude aboute hym wepynge and shewynge the cotes and garmentes which Dorcas made whill she was with the.
40 Petrus, herkesi dışarı çıkarttı, diz çöküp dua etti. Sonra ölüye doğru dönerek, “Tabita, kalk” dedi. Kadın gözlerini açtı, Petrus'u görünce doğrulup oturdu.
And Peter put the all forth and kneled doune and prayde and turned him to ye body and sayde: Tabitha aryse. And she opened her eyes and whe she sawe Peter she sat vp.
41 Petrus elini uzatarak onu ayağa kaldırdı. Sonra kutsallarla dul kadınları çağırdı, Ceylan'ı diri olarak onlara teslim etti.
And he gave her ye honde and lyft her up and called the sainctes and wydowes and shewed her alyve.
42 Bu olayın haberi bütün Yafa'ya yayıldı ve birçokları Rab'be inandı.
And it was knowne throwout all Ioppa and many beleved on the Lorde.
43 Petrus uzunca bir süre Yafa'da, Simun adında bir dericinin evinde kaldı.
And it fortuned that he taryed many dayes in Ioppa with one Simon a tanner.
