1 Süleyman RAB'bin Tapınağı'nı, sarayı ve yapmayı istediği bütün işleri bitirince,
It happened, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do,
2 RAB daha önce Givon'da olduğu gibi ona yine görünerek
that the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.
3 şöyle dedi: “Duanı ve yakarışını duydum. Adım sürekli orada bulunsun diye yaptığın bu tapınağı kutsal kıldım. Gözlerim onun üstünde, yüreğim her zaman orada olacaktır.
And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your petition that you have made before me. I have done for you according to all your prayer. I have consecrated this house which you have built, to place my name there forever, and my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.
4 Sana gelince, baban Davut'un yaptığı gibi, bütün yüreğinle ve doğrulukla yollarımı izler, buyurduğum her şeyi yapar, kurallarıma ve ilkelerime uyarsan,
As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances;
5 baban Davut'a, ‘İsrail tahtından senin soyunun ardı arkası kesilmeyecektir’ diye verdiğim sözü tutup krallığını sonsuza dek pekiştireceğim.
then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, according as I promised to David your father, saying, 'There shall not fail you a man on the throne of Israel.'
6 “Ama siz ya da çocuklarınız yollarımdan sapar, buyruklarıma ve kurallarıma uymaz, gidip başka ilahlara kulluk eder, taparsanız,
But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;
7 size verdiğim bu ülkeden sizi söküp atacağım, adıma kutsal kıldığım bu tapınağı terk edeceğim; İsrail bütün uluslar arasında aşağılanıp alay konusu olacak.
then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
8 Bu gösterişli tapınağın önünden geçenler, hayret ve dehşet içinde, ‘RAB bu ülkeyi ve tapınağı neden bu duruma getirdi?’ diye soracaklar.
And this house, which is exalted, will become a heap of ruins. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished, and will whistle, and they will say, 'Why has the LORD done this to this land, and to this house?'
9 Ve, diyecekler ki, ‘İsrail halkı, atalarını Mısır'dan çıkaran Tanrıları RAB'bi terk etti; başka ilahların ardından gitti, onlara tapıp kulluk etti. RAB bu yüzden bütün bu kötülükleri başlarına getirdi.’”
And they shall answer, 'Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold of other gods, and worshiped them, and served them. Therefore the LORD has brought all this disaster on them.'"
10 Süleyman iki yapıyı –RAB'bin Tapınağı'yla kendi sarayını– yirmi yılda bitirdi.
It happened at the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD and the king's house
11 Bu yapılar için istediği sedir ve çam ağaçlarıyla altını sağlayan Sur Kralı Hiram'a Celile bölgesinde yirmi kent verdi.
(now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire), that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.
12 Hiram gidip Süleyman'ın kendisine verdiği kentleri görünce onları beğenmedi.
Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they did not please him.
13 Süleyman'a, “Bunlar mı bana verdiğin kentler, kardeşim!” dedi. Bu yüzden o bölge bugün de “Kavul” diye bilinir.
He said, "What cities are these which you have given me, my brother?" He called them the land of Cabul to this day.
14 Oysa Hiram, Kral Süleyman'a yüz yirmi talant altın göndermişti.
Hiram sent to the king one hundred twenty talents of gold.
15 Kral Süleyman RAB'bin Tapınağı'nı, kendi sarayını, Millo'yu ve Yeruşalim'in surlarını yaptırmak; ayrıca Hasor, Megiddo ve Gezer kentlerini onarıp güçlendirmek amacıyla angaryacıları toplamıştı.
This is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
16 Mısır Firavunu gidip Gezer'i ele geçirmiş ve ateşe vermişti. Orada yaşayan Kenanlılar'ı öldürerek kenti Süleyman'la evlenen kızına armağan etmişti.
Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites who lived in the city, and given it for a portion to his daughter, Solomon's wife.
17 Süleyman Gezer'i, Aşağı Beythoron'u,
Solomon built Gezer, and Lower Beth Horon,
18 Baalat'ı ve kırsal bir bölgede bulunan Tamar'la birlikte
and Baalath, and Tamar in the wilderness, in the land,
19 bütün ambarlı kentleri, ayrıca savaş arabalarıyla atların bulunduğu kentleri de onarıp güçlendirdi. Böylece Yeruşalim'de, Lübnan'da, yönetimi altındaki bütün topraklarda her istediğini yaptırmış oldu.
and all the storage cities that Solomon had, and the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
20 İsrail halkından olmayan Amorlular, Hititler, Perizliler, Hivliler ve Yevuslular'dan artakalanlara gelince,
As for all the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hethites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel;
21 Süleyman İsrail halkının tamamen yok edemediği bu insanların soyundan gelip ülkede kalanları angaryaya koştu. Bu durum bugün de sürüyor.
their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them Solomon conscripted for slave labor to this day.
22 Ancak Süleyman İsrail halkından hiç kimseye kölelik yaptırmadı. Onlar savaşçı, görevli, komutan, subay, savaş arabalarıyla atlıların komutanı olarak görev yaptılar.
But of the children of Israel Solomon made no bondservants; but they were the men of war, and his servants, and his commanders, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

These were the chief officers who were over Solomon's work, five hundred fifty, who bore rule over the people who labored in the work.
24 Firavunun kızı, Davut Kenti'nden Süleyman'ın kendisi için yaptırdığı saraya taşındıktan sonra, Süleyman Millo'yu yaptırdı.
But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the City of David to her house which Solomon had built for her: then he built Millo.
25 Süleyman RAB için yaptırdığı sunakta yılda üç kez yakmalık sunular ve esenlik sunuları sunardı. Ayrıca RAB'bin önündeki sunağın üstünde buhur da yakardı. Böylece Süleyman tapınağın yapımını tamamlamış oldu.
Solomon offered burnt offerings and peace offerings on the altar which he built to the LORD three times a year, burning incense with them, on the altar that was before the LORD. So he finished the house.
26 Kral Süleyman Edomlular'ın ülkesinde, Kamış Denizi kıyısında Eylat yakınlarındaki Esyon-Gever'de gemiler yaptırdı.
King Solomon also had a fleet of ships at Ezion Geber, which is near Eilat on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.
27 Hiram denizi bilen gemicilerini Süleyman'ın adamlarıyla birlikte Ofir'e gönderdi.
Hiram sent in the navy his servants, sailors who had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.
28 Ofir'e giden bu gemiciler, Kral Süleyman'a 420 talant altın getirdiler.
They came to Ophir, and fetched from there gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
