1 Davut'la ordu komutanları hizmet için Asaf'ın, Heman'ın, Yedutun'un bazı oğullarını ayırdılar. Bunlar lir, çenk ve ziller eşliğinde peygamberlikte bulunacaklardı. Bu göreve atananların listesi şuydu:

Moreover, David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, were to prophesy with harps, with stringed instruments, and with cymbals: and the number of those who did the work according to their service was:

of the sons of Asaph: Zakkur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.

3 Yedutun'un oğullarından: Gedalya, Seri, Yeşaya, Şimi, Haşavya, Mattitya. Toplam altı kişiydi. Lir eşliğinde peygamberlikte bulunan, RAB'be şükür ve övgü sunan babaları Yedutun'un sorumluluğu altındaydılar.

Of Jeduthun; the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, and Shimei, and Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with the harp in giving thanks and praising YHWH.

4 Heman'ın oğullarından: Bukkiya, Mattanya, Uzziel, Şevuel, Yerimot, Hananya, Hanani, Eliata, Giddalti, Romamti-Ezer, Yoşbekaşa, Malloti, Hotir, Mahaziot.

Of Heman; the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shubael, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-Ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth.

5 Hepsi kralın bilicisi Heman'ın oğullarıydı. Tanrı'nın sözü uyarınca bu oğullar Heman'ı güçlendirmek için ona verilmişti. Tanrı Heman'a on dört oğulla üç kız verdi.

All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6 Bunların tümü babalarının sorumluluğu altında RAB Tanrı'nın Tapınağı'nda hizmet etmek için zil, çenk ve lirler eşliğinde ezgi söylerdi. Asaf, Yedutun, Heman kralın sorumluluğu altındaydı.

All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of YHWH, with cymbals, stringed instruments, and harps, for the service of God's house; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the order of the king.

7 RAB'be ezgi okumak için eğitilmiş yetenekli Levililer'in toplamı 288 kişiydi.

The number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to YHWH, even all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.

8 Bunların her biri, büyük küçük, öğretmen öğrenci ayrımı yapılmaksızın, görev dağıtımı için kura çekti.

And they cast lots, watch with watch, the small as the great, the teacher as the pupil.

Now the first lot came out for Asaph of Joseph, his sons and his brothers, twelve; the second to Gedaliah, his brothers and his sons, twelve:
