And Huram king of Tyre sends messengers to David, and cedar-wood, and craftsmen of walls, and craftsmen of wood, to build a house for him.
2 Böylece Davut RAB'bin kendisini İsrail Kralı atadığını ve halkı İsrail'in hatırı için krallığını çok yücelttiğini anladı.
And David knows that YHWH has established him for king over Israel, because of the lifting up on high of his kingdom, for the sake of His people Israel.
3 Davut Yeruşalim'de kendine daha birçok karı aldı; bunlardan erkek ve kız çocukları oldu.
And David takes wives again in Jerusalem, and David begets sons and daughters again;
4 Davut'un Yeruşalim'de doğan çocuklarının adları şunlardı: Şammua, Şovav, Natan, Süleyman,
and these [are] the names of the children whom he has in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 Yivhar, Elişua, Elpelet,
and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6 Nogah, Nefek, Yafia,
and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7 Elişama, Beelyada, Elifelet.
and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
8 Filistliler Davut'un İsrail Kralı olarak meshedildiğini duyunca, bütün Filist ordusu onu aramak için yola çıktı. Bunu duyan Davut onları karşılamaya gitti.
And the Philistines hear that David has been anointed for king over all Israel, and all the Philistines go up to seek David, and David hears, and goes out before them.
9 Filistliler gelip Refaim Vadisi'nde baskın yapmışlardı.
And the Philistines have come, and rush into the Valley of Rephaim,
10 Davut Tanrı'ya danıştı: “Filistliler'e saldırayım mı? Onları elime teslim edecek misin?” RAB, “Saldır” dedi, “Onları eline teslim edeceğim.”
and David asks of God, saying, “Do I go up against the Philistines—and have You given them into my hand?” And YHWH says to him, “Go up, and I have given them into your hand.”
11 Bunun üzerine Davut'la adamları Baal-Perasim'e gittiler. Davut orada Filistliler'i bozguna uğrattı. Sonra, “Her şeyi yarıp geçen sular gibi, Tanrı düşmanlarımı benim elimle yarıp geçti” dedi. Bundan ötürü oraya Baal-Perasim adı verildi.
And they go up into Ba‘al-Perazim, and David strikes them there, and David says, “God has broken up my enemies by my hand, like the breaking up of waters”; therefore they have called the name of that place Ba‘al-Perazim.
12 Filistliler putlarını orada bıraktılar. Davut'un buyruğu uyarınca putlar yakıldı.
And they leave their gods there, and David commands, and they are burned with fire.
13 Filistliler bir kez daha gelip vadiye baskın yaptılar.
And the Philistines add again, and rush into the valley,
14 Davut yine Tanrı'ya danıştı. Tanrı şöyle karşılık verdi: “Buradan saldırma! Onları arkadan çevirip pelesenk ağaçlarının önünden saldır.
and David asks again of God, and God says to him, “Do not go up after them, turn around from them, and you have come to them from the front [[or in front]] of the mulberries;
15 Pelesenk ağaçlarının tepesinden yürüyüş sesi duyar duymaz, saldırıya geç. Çünkü ben Filist ordusunu bozguna uğratmak için önünsıra gitmişim demektir.”
and it comes to pass, when you hear the sound of the stepping at the heads of the mulberries, then you go out into battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
16 Davut Tanrı'nın kendisine buyurduğu gibi yaptı ve Filist ordusunu Givon'dan Gezer'e kadar bozguna uğrattı.
And David does as God commanded him, and they strike the camp of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer;
17 Böylece Davut'un ünü her yana yayıldı. RAB bütün ulusların ondan korkmasını sağladı.
and the name of David goes out into all the lands, and YHWH has put his fear on all the nations.
