< Sefanaia 2 >
1 Fakataha ʻakimoutolu, ʻio, fakataha, ʻae puleʻanga ʻoku ʻikai ke holi;
Rally yourselves together and gather, unashamed nation—
2 ʻI he teʻeki ke ʻomi ʻae tuʻutuʻuni ʻe he ʻaho, ʻaia ʻalu atu ʻo hangē ko e kafukafu, ʻi he teʻeki ke hoko kiate kimoutolu ʻae houhau kakaha ʻo Sihova, ʻi he teʻeki ke hoko kiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻaho ʻoe tuputāmaki ʻo Sihova.
before the decree takes effect and that day passes like the chaff, before the fierce anger of Yahweh's wrath comes upon you, before the day of the wrath of Yahweh comes upon you.
3 Mou kumi kia Sihova, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻae angamalū ʻoe fonua, kuo mou fai ʻa ʻene fakamaau; kumi ki he māʻoniʻoni, kumi ki he angamalū: heiʻilo ʻe fufū ʻakimoutolu ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe houhau ʻo Sihova.
Seek Yahweh, all you humble people on earth who obey his decrees! Seek righteousness. Seek humility, and perhaps you will be protected in the day of Yahweh's wrath.
4 Koeʻuhi ʻe liʻaki ʻa Kesa, pea fakaʻauha ʻa ʻAsikeloni: te nau kapusi ʻa ʻAsitoti ʻi he hoʻatā, pea ʻe taʻaki fuʻu ʻa Ekiloni.
For Gaza will be abandoned, and Ashkelon will turn into a devastation. They will drive out Ashdod at noon, and they will uproot Ekron!
5 Ke malaʻia ki he kakai ʻoe matātahi, ko e puleʻanga ʻoe kakai Kiliti! ʻOku ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova; ʻE Kēnani, ko e fonua ʻoe kakai Filisitia, naʻa mo koe, te u fakaʻauha koe, ke ʻoua naʻa ai ha taha ʻe nofo ai.
Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Kerethites! Yahweh has spoken against you, Canaan, land of the Philistines. I will destroy you until no inhabitant remains.
6 Pea ʻe hoko ʻae matātahi ko e ngaahi nofoʻanga, mo e ngaahi fale maʻa e kau tauhi sipi, mo e ngaahi lotoʻā maʻa e fanga sipi.
So the seacoast will become pastures for shepherds and for sheep pens.
The coastal region will belong to the remnant of the house of Judah, who will shepherd their flocks there. Their people will lie down in the evening in the houses of Ashkelon, for Yahweh their God will care for them and restore their fortunes.
8 Kuo u fanongo ki he valoki ʻa Moape, mo e ngaahi manuki ʻae fānau ʻa ʻAmoni, ʻaia kuo nau lauʻikoviʻi ai ʻa hoku kakai, mo fakahikihiki ʻakinautolu ki honau fonua.
“I have heard the taunts of Moab and the reviling of the people of Ammon when they taunted my people and violated their borders.
Therefore, as I live—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel— Moab will become like Sodom, and the people of Ammon like Gomorrah; a place of nettles and a salt pit, deserted forever. But the remnant of my people will plunder them, and the remainder of my nation will take possession of them.”
10 ʻE maʻu eni ʻekinautolu, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau fielahi, koeʻuhi kuo nau valoki, mo fakahikihiki ʻakinautolu, ki he kakai ʻo Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
This will happen to Moab and Ammon because of their pride, since they taunted and mocked the people of Yahweh of hosts.
11 ʻE fakailifia ʻa Sihova kiate kinautolu: he te ne fakahonge ʻae ngaahi ʻotua kotoa pē ʻoe fonua; pea ʻe lotu ʻae kakai kiate ia, taki taha ʻi hono potu, ʻio, ko e ngaahi ʻotu motu kotoa pē ʻoe hiteni.
Then they will fear Yahweh, for he will taunt all the gods of the earth. Everyone will worship him, everyone from his own place, from every seashore.
12 ʻAkimoutolu foki, ʻae kakai ʻItiopea, ʻe tāmateʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻe heʻeku heletā.
You Cushites also will be pierced by my sword,
13 Pea ʻe mafao atu ʻe ia ʻa hono nima ki he tokelau, mo maumauʻi ʻa ʻAsilia; pea te ne ngaohi ʻa Ninive ko e fakaʻauha, pea mōmoa ʻo hangē ko e toafa.
and God's hand will attack the north and destroy Assyria, so that Nineveh will become an abandoned devastation, as dry as the desert.
14 Pea ʻe tokoto ʻae fanga sipi ʻi he lotolotonga ʻo ia, ʻae fanga manu kotoa pē ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga; ʻe fakatou nofo ʻae komolane mo e pitane ʻi he funga matapā ʻi ʻolunga; ʻe hiva ʻa honau leʻo ʻi he ngaahi matapā sioʻata; ʻe ʻi he ngaahi lakaʻanga ʻoe matapā ʻae fakaʻauha: he te ne veteki ʻae ngāue ʻoe sita.
Then herds will lie down there, every animal of the nations, both the desert owl and the screech owl will rest in the top of her columns. A call will sing out from the windows; rubble will be in the doorways; her carved cedar beams will be exposed.
15 Ko eni ʻae kolo fakafiefia ʻaia naʻe nofo fakafiemālie kovi, ʻaia naʻe pehē ʻi hono loto, Ko au, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha tokotaha mo au: hono ʻikai kuo hoko ia ko e fakaʻauha, ko e potu ke tokoto ai ʻae fanga manu! ʻE taki taha ʻiseʻisa mo ʻalu atu ʻiate ia, mo tupetupeʻi hono nima.
This is the exultant city that lived without fear, that said in her heart, “I am, and nothing is my equal.” How she has become a horror, a place for beasts to lie down in. Everyone that passes by her will hiss and shake his fist at her.
