Hiva ʻa Solomone 8
1 ʻAmusiaange ʻeau kuo ke tatau mo ha tuongaʻane kiate au, ʻaia naʻe fakahuhu ʻi he ongo huhu ʻo ʻeku faʻē! Koeʻuhi ʻo kau ka ʻilo koe ʻituʻa. ke u ʻuma kiate koe, ʻo ʻikai mā ai.
O that thou wert as my brother, That sucked the breast of my mother! When I found thee abroad, I might kiss thee; And for it no one would deride me.
2 Ka ne pehē, te u tataki koe mo ʻomi koe ki he fale ʻo ʻeku faʻē, pea te ne ako kiate au: te u fakainu koe ʻi he uaine namu lelei, kuo huʻi ʻaki ʻeau ʻae huhuʻa melie ʻoe pomikanite.
I will lead thee, and bring thee into my mother's house, that thou mayst teach me; I will give thee spiced wine to drink, and the juice of my pomegranates.
3 Pea ʻe ʻi lalo ʻi hoku ʻulu ʻa hono nima toʻohema, pea fāʻufua au ʻe hono nima toʻomataʻu.
His left hand is under my head, And his right hand embraceth me.
4 ʻE ngaahi ʻofefine ʻo Selūsalema, ʻoku ou fekau kiate kimoutolu, ke ʻoua naʻa mou ueʻi pe fafangu ʻa hoku ʻofaʻanga, kaeʻoua ke faʻiteliha pe ia.
[[Lov.]] I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem! That ye stir not up, nor awake my love, Till she please!
5 Ko hai eni ʻoku haʻu mei he toafa, ʻoku faʻaki kiate ia ʻoku ne ʻofa ai? Naʻaku hiki hake koe ʻi he lolo moli: naʻe fanauʻi koe ʻi ai ʻe hoʻo faʻē, naʻe fanauʻi ʻi ai koe ʻe ia naʻa ne fāʻeleʻi koe.
[[Lad.]] Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved? [[M.]] Under the apple-tree I awakened thee; There thy mother brought thee forth; There she that bore thee brought thee forth!
6 ʻAi au ki ho loto ʻo hangē ko e fakamaʻu ʻo ha tohi, pea hangē ko e mama ki ho nima; he ʻoku mālohi ʻae ʻofa ʻo tatau mo e mate; ʻoku ongongataʻa ʻae fuaʻa ʻo hangē ko e faʻitoka: ko hono malala ʻoku hangē ko e malalaʻi afi, ʻaia ʻoku ulo kakaha. (Sheol h7585)
O set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm! For love is strong as death; True love is firm as the grave: Its flames are flames of fire, The fire of Jehovah. (Sheol h7585)
7 ʻOku ʻikai faʻa tāmateʻi ʻae ʻofa ʻaki ʻae vai lahi, pea ʻe ʻikai mate ia ʻi he ngaahi vaitafe ʻoku lahi: pea kapau ʻe foaki ʻe ha tangata ʻae koloa kotoa pē ʻi hono fale ka ne maʻu ai ʻae ʻofa, ʻe lau pe ia ko e meʻa vaʻinga.
Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can floods drown it. Would a man give all the wealth of his house for love, It would be utterly contemned.
8 ʻOku ai homau tehina, pea ʻoku teʻeki hunuki hono huhu: pea ko e hā te mau fai ʻoka hoko ʻae ʻaho ke alea ki ai?
[[Br.]] We have a sister who is yet young; She is yet without breasts. What shall we do with our sister, When she shall be spoken for?
9 Kapau ko e ʻā ia, te mau fokotuʻu ki ai ha fale siliva: pea kapau ko e matapā ia, te mau teuteu ʻaki ia ʻae laupapa ko e sita.
If she be a wall, We will build upon it a silver tower; If she be an open gate, We will inclose her with planks of cedar.
10 Ko au ko e ʻā, pea tatau mo e fale māʻolunga ʻa hoku huhu: ko ia ia naʻaku tatau ai ʻi hono ʻao mo ha taha kuo maʻu ʻae fiemālie.
[[Sis.]] I am a wall, and my breasts like towers; Therefore am I become in his eyes as one that findeth peace.
11 Naʻe ia Solomone ʻae ngoue vaine ʻi Peali-Hamone: pea naʻa ne tuku ʻene ngoue vaine ki he kau tauhi: pea naʻe fekau ke ʻomi taki taha ʻae konga siliva ʻe afe, ko e totongi ki hono ngaahi fua.
Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon; He let out the vineyard to keepers; Every one was to bring a thousand shekels of silver for its fruit.
12 ʻOku ʻi hoku ʻao ʻa ʻeku ngoue vaine ʻaʻaku: pea ko koe ʻe Solomone, te ke maʻu mei ai ʻae konga siliva ʻe afe, kae tuku kiate kinautolu ʻoku tauhi hono fua ʻae uangeau.
My vineyard is before my eyes. Be thine the thousand, O Solomon! And two hundred to the keepers of its fruit!
13 ʻA koe ʻoku nofo ʻi he ngaahi ngoue, pea ʻoku ongoʻi ho leʻo ʻe ho kāinga: tuku au foki ke u fanongo ai.
[[Lov.]] Thou that dwellest in the gardens! Friends listen to thy voice; Let me hear thee!
14 Fai vave ʻa hoku ʻofaʻanga, pea ke tatau koe mo e kāseli pe ko e hainite mui he ngaahi moʻunga ʻoe kakala.
Fly, my beloved! like a gazelle, or a young hind, Upon the mountains of spices.
