1 ‌ʻE Kāinga, ko e holi ʻa hoku loto, mo ʻeku lotu ki he ʻOtua, koeʻuhi ko ʻIsileli, ke fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu.

Brethren, mine hearts desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saued.

2 He ʻoku ou fakamoʻoni kiate kinautolu ʻoku ʻiate kinautolu ʻae fai feinga ki he ʻOtua, ka ʻoku ʻikai taau mo e poto.

For I beare them record, that they haue the zeale of God, but not according to knowledge.

3 He ko e meʻa ʻi heʻenau taʻeʻilo ki he fakatonuhiaʻi ʻe he ʻOtua, naʻa nau ʻalu fano ke fokotuʻumaʻu ʻae māʻoniʻoni ʻanautolu, kuo ʻikai ai ke fakavaivai ʻakinautolu ki he fakatonuhia mei he ʻOtua.

For they, being ignorant of the righteousnes of God, and going about to stablish their owne righteousnes, haue not submitted themselues to the righteousnes of God.

4 He ko e fakahaohaoa ʻoe fono ʻa Kalaisi ki he fakatonuhia kiate kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku tui.

For Christ is the end of the Law for righteousnes vnto euery one that beleeueth.

5 He ʻoku fakahā ʻe Mōsese ʻae fakatonuhia ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he fono, “Ko e tangata ʻoku ne fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni, ʻe moʻui ai ia.”

For Moses thus describeth the righteousnes which is of the Lawe, That the man which doeth these things, shall liue thereby.

6 Ka ko e fakatonuhia ʻoku ʻi he tui ʻoku lea ia, ʻo pehē, “ʻOua naʻa ke pehē ʻi ho loto, Ko hai te ne ʻalu hake ki he langi?” (Ko e pehē, ke ʻohifo ʻa Kalaisi: )

But the righteousnes which is of faith, speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heauen? (that is to bring Christ from aboue)

7 pe, “Ko hai te ne ʻalu hifo ki he loloto?” (Ko e pehē, ke ʻohake ʻa Kalaisi mei he mate.) (Abyssos g12)

Or, Who shall descend into the deepe? (that is to bring Christ againe from the dead) (Abyssos g12)

8 Ka ʻoku pehē ia ko e hā? “ʻOku ofi ʻae lea kiate koe, ʻi ho ngutu, pea ʻi ho loto:” ʻaia ko e lea ʻoe tui, ʻoku mau malangaʻaki;

But what sayth it? The worde is neere thee, euen in thy mouth, and in thine heart. This is the worde of faith which we preach.

9 Koeʻuhi kapau te ke fakahā ʻaki ho ngutu ʻae ʻEiki ko Sisu, pea ke tui ʻi ho loto kuo fokotuʻu ia ʻe he ʻOtua mei he mate, ʻe fakamoʻui koe.

For if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth the Lord Iesus, and shalt beleeue in thine heart, that God raised him vp from the dead, thou shalt be saued:

10 He ʻoku tui ʻae tangata ʻaki ʻae loto ki he fakatonuhia; pea ʻoku fakahā ʻaki ʻae ngutu ʻae fakamoʻui.

For with the heart man beleeueth vnto righteousnes, and with the mouth man confesseth to saluation.

11 He ʻoku pehē ʻae tohi, “Ko ia ia ʻe tui kiate ia, ʻe ʻikai mā ia.”

For the Scripture saith, Whosoeuer beleeueth in him, shall not be ashamed.

12 He ʻoku ʻikai ha fai kehekehe ki he Siu mo e Kiliki: he ko e ʻEiki pe ko ia ʻoe kakai kotoa pē ʻoku mohu [angalelei ]ki he kakai kotoa pē ʻoku ui kiate ia.

For there is no difference betweene the Iewe and the Grecian: for he that is Lord ouer all, is rich vnto all, that call on him.

13 “He ko ia ia ʻe ui ki he huafa ʻoe ʻEiki, ʻe fakamoʻui ia.”

For whosoeuer shall call vpon the Name of the Lord, shalbe saued.

14 Kae fēfē ʻenau ui kiate ia naʻe ʻikai te nau tui ki ai? Pea fēfē ʻenau tui kiate ia naʻe ʻikai te nau fanongo ki ai? Pea fēfē ʻenau fanongo taʻehataha ʻe malanga?

But how shall they call on him, in whome they haue not beleeued? and how shall they beleeue in him, of whom they haue not heard? and howe shall they heare without a preacher?

15 Pea fēfē ʻenau malanga, ʻoka ʻikai fekau atu ʻakinautolu? ʻO hangē ko ia kuo tohi, “Hono ʻikai fakaʻofoʻofa ʻae vaʻe ʻokinautolu ʻoku malangaʻaki ʻae ongoongolelei ʻoe melino, pea ʻomi ʻae ongoongo fiefia ʻoe ngaahi meʻa lelei!”

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, Howe beautifull are the feete of them which bring glad tidings of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

16 Ka kuo ʻikai te nau talangofua kotoa pē ki he ongoongolelei. He ʻoku pehē ʻe ʻIsaia, “ʻEiki, Ko hai kuo tui ki heʻemau ongoongoa?”

But they haue not all obeyed ye Gospel: for Esaias saith, Lord, who hath beleeued our report?

17 Ko ia, ʻoku mei he fanongo ʻae tui, mo e fanongo mei he folofola ʻae ʻOtua.

Then faith is by hearing, and hearing by the worde of God.

18 Ka ʻoku ou pehē, “ʻIkai kuo nau fanongo? ʻIo ko e moʻoni kuo aʻu atu ʻenau fakaongo ki he fonua kotoa pē, pea mo e nau lea ki he ngaahi ngataʻanga ʻo māmani.”

But I demaund, Haue they not heard? No doubt their sound went out through all the earth, and their wordes into the endes of the worlde.

19 Ka ʻoku ou pehē, ʻIkai naʻe ʻilo ʻe ʻIsileli? [He ]ʻoku fuofua lea ʻa Mōsese, “Te u fakafuaʻa ʻakimoutolu ʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻikai ko ha kakai, pea te u fakaʻitaʻi ʻakimoutolu ʻaki ʻae puleʻanga vale.”

But I demaund, Did not Israel knowe God? First Moses sayth, I will prouoke you to enuie by a nation that is not my nation, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

20 Ka ʻoku lea mālohi lahi ʻa ʻIsaia ʻo pehē, “Kuo ʻiloʻi au ʻekinautolu naʻe ʻikai kumi kiate au; kuo fakahā au kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻikai fehuʻi kiate au.”

And Esaias is bolde, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not, and haue bene made manifest to them that asked not after me.

21 Ka ʻoku pehē ʻene lea ki ʻIsileli, “Ko e ʻaho kātoa kuo u mafao atu hoku nima ki he kakai talangataʻa mo angatuʻu.”

And vnto Israel hee sayth, All the day long haue I stretched foorth mine hand vnto a disobedient, and gainesaying people.
