< Saame 94 >

1 ‌ʻE Sihova ko e ʻOtua, ʻoku ʻaʻau ʻae totongi; ʻE ʻOtua, ʻoku ʻaʻau ʻae totongi: ke ke ulo mai.
Yahweh, you are able to get revenge [on your enemies]. [So] show them that you are going to punish them!
2 Ke ke hiki hake koe, ʻa koe ko e fakamaau ʻo māmani; ʻange ʻae totongi ki he laukau.
You are the one who judges all [people on] the earth; [so] arise, and give/punish the proud [leaders of our] people like they deserve.
3 ‌ʻE Sihova, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa ʻoe fielahi ʻae angahala, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa ʻoe polepole ʻae angahala?
Yahweh, how long will those wicked [people] be glad/happy? It is not right that [RHQ] they continue being glad!
4 ‌ʻE fēfē hono fuoloa ʻo ʻenau fakahā mo lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa faingataʻa? Pea vikiviki ai ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻoku fai kovi?
They do evil things, and they boast about doing them; how long will they [be allowed to] continue doing that?
5 ‌ʻE Sihova, ʻoku nau fesiʻi ʻo lailaiki ho kakai, mo fakamamahiʻi ho tofiʻa.
Yahweh, [it is as though] those wicked people crush [us], your people; they (oppress/treat cruelly) those who belong to you [DOU].
6 ‌ʻOku nau tāmateʻi ʻae muli mo e fefine kuo mate hono husepāniti, pea fakapoongi ʻae tamai mate.
They murder widows and orphans and people from other countries who [think it is safe to] live in our land.
7 Ka ʻoku nau pehē, “ʻE ʻikai ʻafioʻi ʻe Sihova, ʻe ʻikai tokanga ki ai ʻe he ʻOtua ʻo Sēkope.”
Those wicked people say, “Yahweh does not see anything; [so] the God whom those Israelis [worship] does not see [the evil things that we do].”
8 Mou ʻilo ʻekimoutolu ʻoku anga fakamanu ʻi he kakai: pea ko kimoutolu ʻae kau vale, te mou poto ʻafē?
You evil people [who rule Israel], you are foolish and stupid; when will you become wise [RHQ]?
9 Ko ia naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae telinga, ʻikai te ne fanongo? Ko ia naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae mata, ʻikai te ne ʻafioʻi?
God made our ears; so [do you think that] he cannot hear [what you say] [RHQ]? He created our eyes; so do you think that he cannot see [the evil things that you do] [RHQ]?
10 Ko ia ʻoku ne tautea ʻae hiteni, ʻikai te ne tautea? Ko ia ʻoku ne akonakiʻi ʻae tangata ke poto, ʻikai te ne ʻiloʻi?
He also scolds [the leaders of other] nations; so do you think that he will not punish [you] [RHQ]? He is the one who knows everything; [so why do you think that he does not know what you do] [RHQ]?
11 ‌ʻOku ʻiloʻi ʻe Sihova ʻae ngaahi mahalo ʻae tangata, ʻoku nau vaʻinga pē.
Yahweh knows [everything] that people are thinking; he knows that what they think ([is useless/vanishes as quickly as]) smoke [MET].
12 ‌ʻE Sihova, ʻoku monūʻia ʻae tangata ʻoku ke tautea, mo ke ako kiate ia ʻaki hoʻo fono;
Yahweh, you are pleased with people who [want you to] discipline/correct them, those who [want you to] teach them your laws.
13 Koeʻuhi te ke foaki kiate ia ʻae mālōlō mei he ngaahi ʻaho ʻoe mamahi, kaeʻoua ke keli ʻae luo ki he kau angahala.
When those people have had troubles, you cause those troubles to cease, and some day [it will be as though] you will dig pits for wicked people, and they will fall into those pits [and die].
14 Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai liʻaki ʻe Sihova hono kakai, pea ʻe ʻikai te ne fakatukutukuʻi hono tofiʻa.
Yahweh will not abandon his people; he will not desert like that those who belong to him [DOU].
15 Ka ʻe foki ʻae fakamaau ki he māʻoniʻoni: pea ʻe angimui ki ai ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku angatonu ʻi loto.
[Some day] judges will decide matters fairly for people, and all honest/righteous people will be pleased about that.
16 Ko hai ʻe tuʻu hake maʻaku ʻo taʻofi ʻae kau fai kovi? Pe ko hai ʻe tuʻu hake maʻaku ʻo taʻofi ʻakinautolu ʻoku ngāue ʻi he angahala?
But when wicked [people] ([oppressed me/treated me cruelly]), (who defended me?/no one defended me.) [RHQ] No one stood up to testify for me against those evil people [RHQ].
17 Ka ne ʻikai tokoni au ʻe Sihova, pehē, kuo vave ʻae nofo ʻa hoku laumālie ʻi he fakalongo pē.
If Yahweh had not helped me [at that time], [I would have been executed], [and] my soul/spirit would have gone to the place where [dead people] say nothing.
18 ‌ʻI heʻeku pehē, “ʻOku hekea hoku vaʻe;” ko hoʻo ʻaloʻofa, ʻE Sihova, naʻe poupou hake au.
I said/thought [to myself], “I am about to die,” but Yahweh, you held me up by faithfully loving me.
19 ‌ʻI hono lahi ʻo ʻeku ngaahi mahalo ʻiate au, ʻoku fakafiefiaʻi au ʻi hoʻo ngaahi meʻa fakafiemālie.
Whenever I am very worried, you comfort/encourage me and cause me to be happy.
20 ‌ʻE feohi koā mo koe ʻae nofoʻa ʻoe angahala, ʻaia ʻoku fakatupu ʻae pauʻu ʻaki ʻae fono?
You have nothing to do with wicked judges, who establish laws that allow people to do what is not legal.
21 ‌ʻOku nau fakataha ʻo angatuʻu ki he laumālie ʻoe angatonu, mo fakahalaia ʻae toto tonuhia.
They plan to get rid of righteous [people], and they declare that (innocent people/people who have not done what is wrong) must be executed.
22 Ka ko hoku ungakiʻi ʻa Sihova pea ko hoku ʻOtua ko e maka ia ʻo hoku hūfanga.
But Yahweh (has become [like] my fortress/protects me) [MET]; my God is [like a huge] rock under which I am protected/safe [MET].
23 Pea ʻe ʻomi ʻe ia kiate kinautolu ʻa ʻenau hia, pea te ne fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻi heʻenau angahala; ʻio, ko Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua te ne fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu.
He will punish those wicked leaders in return for the wicked things that they have done, and will get rid of them for the sins that they have committed; [yes], Yahweh our God will (wipe them out/destroy them completely).
