< Saame 9 >

1 Ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Muti-Lapeni, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. Te u fakafetaʻi kiate koe, ʻE Sihova, ʻaki hoku loto kotoa; te u fakahā atu hoʻo ngāue fakaofo kotoa pē.
Yahweh, I will praise you with all of my inner being. I will tell [others] about all the wonderful things that you have done.
2 Te u fiefia mo nekeneka ʻiate koe: te u hiva fakamālō ki ho huafa, ʻa koe ʻoku ke māʻolunga lahi taha pe.
I will sing to celebrate what you [MTY], who are much greater than all other gods, [have done].
3 Pea ka foki kimui hoku ngaahi fili, te nau hinga ʻo ʻauha ʻi ho fofonga.
When my enemies realize [that you are very powerful], they stumble, and then they are killed.
4 He naʻa ke langomia ʻeku totonu mo ʻeku ngāue; naʻa ke nofo ʻi he nofoʻa, ʻo fakamaau ʻi he māʻoniʻoni.
You sat on your throne to judge people, and you have judged fairly/justly concerning me.
5 Kuo ke valoki ʻae hiteni, kuo ke fakaʻauha ʻae angakovi, kuo ke tāmateʻi honau hingoa ke taʻengata pea taʻengata.
You rebuked the [people of other] nations and you have gotten rid of the wicked people; you have erased their names forever.
6 Kuo hoko ke ngata ʻaupito ʻae ngaahi fakaʻauha ʻoe fili: pea ko honau ngaahi kolo kuo ke fakaʻauha; kuo ʻauha mo kinautolu honau fakamanatu.
Our enemies have disappeared; you destroyed their cities, and people do not even remember them any more.
7 Ka ʻe moʻui maʻuaipē ʻa Sihova: kuo ne teuʻi hono ʻafioʻanga ki he fakamaau.
But Yahweh rules forever. He judges [people while he sits] on his throne to judge people,
8 Pea te ne fakamaau ʻa māmani ʻi he māʻoniʻoni, ʻe ʻatu ʻe ia ʻae fakamaau ki he kakai ʻi he angatonu.
and he will judge [all the people in] [SYN] the world justly; he will judge the people [of all nations] fairly [DOU].
9 Pea ko e hūfanga foki ʻa Sihova ki he mamahi, ko e kalofanga ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho fakamamahi.
Yahweh will be a refuge for those who are oppressed; [yes, he will be like] a shelter for them when they have trouble.
10 Pea ko kinautolu ʻoku ʻilo ki ho huafa te nau falala kiate koe: he ko koe, ʻE Sihova, naʻe ʻikai te ke siʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻoku kumi kiate koe.
Those who know Yahweh [MTY] trust in him; he never abandons those who come to him ([for help/to worship him]).
11 Hiva fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, ʻaia ʻoku ʻafio ʻi Saione: fakahā ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai ʻene ngaahi ngāue.
Yahweh rules from Zion [Hill]; praise him while you sing to him. Tell [the people of all] the nations the [marvelous] things that he has done.
12 ‌ʻOka ne ka ʻeke ki he toto, ʻoku ne manatuʻi ʻakinautolu: ʻoku ʻikai te ne fakangalongaloʻi ʻae tangi ʻae angavaivai.
He does not forget [to punish] those who have murdered others; and he will not ignore people who are crying because they are suffering.
13 Ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate au, ʻE Sihova; ʻo tokanga ki heʻeku mamahi meiate kinautolu ʻoku fehiʻa kiate au, ʻa koe ʻoku ke hiki au ki ʻolunga mei he ngaahi matapā ʻoe mate:
Yahweh, be merciful to me! Look at the ways that my enemies have injured me. Do not allow me to die [because of these injuries].
14 Koeʻuhi ke u fakahā ho ongoongolelei kotoa pē. ʻi he ngaahi matapā ʻoe taʻahine ʻo Saione: te u fiefia ʻi hoʻo fakamoʻui.
I want to live in order that I can praise you at the gates of Jerusalem [MTY] and to rejoice because you rescued me.
15 Kuo ngalo hifo ʻae hiteni ʻi he luo naʻa nau ngaohi: ʻi he tauhele naʻa nau fakalilo kuo moʻua ai honau vaʻe.
[It is as though] the [wicked people of many] nations have dug a pit for me to fall into [MET], but they have fallen into that same pit. [It is as if] they spread out a net to catch me [MET], but their feet have been caught in that same net.
16 ‌ʻOku ʻiloʻi ʻa Sihova ʻi he fakamaau ʻoku ne fai: kuo heleʻi ʻae angakovi ʻi he ngāue ʻa hono nima ʻoʻona. (Hikaione, Sila)
Because of what you have done, people know that you decide matters [fairly/justly], but [you allow] wicked people to be trapped by the same evil things that they themselves do.
17 ‌ʻE tekeʻi ʻae angahala ki loto heli, mo e ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻoku fakangalongaloʻi ʻae ʻOtua. (Sheol h7585)
Wicked people will all [die and] be buried in their graves, and [their spirits] will go to be with all those who have (forgotten about/rejected) you. (Sheol h7585)
18 Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai ngalo maʻuaipē ʻae masiva: ʻe ʻikai ʻauha ke taʻengata ʻae ʻamanaki ʻae masiva.
But you will not forget those who are needy/poor; what they confidently expect will certainly happen.
19 Tuʻu hake, ʻE Sihova; ʻoua naʻa tuku ke mālohi ʻae tangata: tuku ke fakamaau ʻae hiteni ʻi ho ʻao.
Yahweh, arise and judge the [wicked] people of the nations; do not allow them to think that [because they are strong] they will never be punished.
20 Fakamanavahēʻi ʻakinautolu, ʻE Sihova: koeʻuhi ke ʻilo ʻe he ngaahi puleʻanga ko e tangata pē ʻakinautolu. (Sila)
Yahweh, teach them to be terrified about you. Cause them to know that they are merely human beings.
