< Saame 73 >
1 Ko e Saame ʻa ʻAsafi. Ko e moʻoni ʻoku angalelei ʻae ʻOtua ki ʻIsileli, ʻio, kiate kinautolu ʻoku loto maʻa.
Truly Elohim is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
2 Ka ko au naʻe meimei mole hoku vaʻe: naʻaku meimei hekea ʻi heʻeku ngaahi laka.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 He naʻaku meheka ʻi he kau vale, ʻi heʻeku mamata ki he fiemālie ʻae angakovi.
For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 He ʻoku ʻikai hanau mamahi ʻi heʻenau mate: ka ʻoku maʻu pe honau mālohi.
For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
5 ʻOku ʻikai moʻua ʻi he mamahi ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e kakai kehe; pea ʻoku ʻikai ʻahiʻahiʻi ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e kakai niʻihi.
They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Ko ia ʻoku takatakai ai ʻakinautolu ʻe he laukau ʻo hangē ko e ukamea fihifihi; ʻoku ʻufiʻufi ʻakinautolu ʻe he angamālohi ʻo hangē ko e kofu.
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 ʻOku hohopo honau mata ʻi heʻenau sino: ʻoku nau maʻu meʻa ʻo lahi hake ʻi he holi ʻoe loto.
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
8 Kuo kovi ʻakinautolu, pea lea kovi ʻi he fakamālohi: ʻoku nau lea fakafiefielahi.
They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
9 ʻOku nau hangatonu atu honau ngutu ʻo angatuʻu ki he ngaahi langi, pea ʻoku ʻeveʻeva honau ʻelelo ʻi māmani.
They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 Ko ia ʻoku liu mai ai ki heni hono kakai: pea ʻoku tatau ʻae vai kiate kinautolu ke pito ʻae ipu.
Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 Pea ʻoku nau pehē, “ʻOku ʻilo fēfē ʻe he ʻOtua? Pea ʻoku ai ha ʻilo ʻi he Fungani Māʻolunga?”
And they say, How doth El know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12 Vakai, ko eni ʻae kau angakovi ʻoku fiemālie ʻi he māmani; ʻoku tupu pē ʻenau koloa.
Behold, these are the wicked, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
13 Ko e moʻoni ʻoku taʻeʻaonga ʻeku fakamaʻa hoku loto, mo ʻeku fanofano hoku nima ʻi he māʻoniʻoni.
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 He kuo ʻahiʻahiʻi au ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē, pea kuo tautea au ʻi he pongipongi kotoa pē,
For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15 Kapau te u tala, te u lea pehē; vakai, ko ʻeku fai hala ki he toʻutangata ʻo hoʻo fānau.
If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
16 Pea ʻi heʻeku ʻahiʻahi ke ʻilo ʻae meʻa ni, naʻe faingataʻa ia kiate au;
When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
17 Ka ʻi heʻeku hū ki he faletapu ʻoe ʻOtua; naʻaku toki ʻilo ai honau ikuʻanga.
Until I went into the sanctuary of El; then understood I their end.
18 Ko e moʻoni naʻa ke tuku ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi potu hekeheke: kuo ke laku hifo ʻakinautolu ki he ngaahi fakaʻauha.
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
19 Kuo ʻomi vave ʻakinautolu ki he malaʻia, ʻo hangē ko e kemo pe taha ʻoe mata! Kuo fakaʻauha ʻaupito ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi ilifia.
How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 Hangē ko e misi ʻoka ʻā hake ha taha; ke pehē pe, ʻE ʻEiki, ʻoka ke ka ʻā hake, te ke manukiʻi honau tatau.
As a dream when one awaketh; so, O YHWH, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Naʻe mamahi pehē pe hoku laumālie, pea naʻe mahuhuhuhu ai hoku loto.
Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
22 Naʻe pehē ʻeku vale, pea naʻe ʻikai te u ʻilo: naʻaku hangē ko e manu ʻi ho ʻao.
So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
23 Ka ko e moʻoni ʻoku ou ʻiate koe maʻuaipē: pea kuo ke puke au ʻi hoku nima toʻomataʻu.
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Te ke tataki au ʻi hoʻo poto, pea hili ia te ke maʻu au ki ho nāunau.
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 He ko hai mo koe ʻoku ou maʻu ʻi he loto langi? Pea ʻoku ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻi māmani ʻoku ou holi ki ai, ka ko koe pē.
Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 ʻOku vaivai hoku kakano mo hoku loto: ka ko e makatuʻu ʻo hoku loto ʻae ʻOtua, mo hoku ʻinasi ʻo taʻengata.
My flesh and my heart faileth: but Elohim is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 Vakai, ʻe ʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻoku mamaʻo ʻiate koe: kuo ke fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻalu meiate koe ʻo fai kovi.
For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 Ka ʻoku lelei kiate au ʻeku ʻunuʻunu ke ofi ki he ʻOtua: kuo u falala ki he ʻEiki ko Sihova, koeʻuhi ke u fakahā ai hoʻo ngāue kotoa pē.
But it is good for me to draw near to Elohim: I have put my trust in the Sovereign YHWH, that I may declare all thy works.
