1 Ko e Sikaiona ʻa Tevita, ʻaia naʻa ne hiva ʻaki kia Sihova, ko e meʻa ʻi he ngaahi lea ʻa Kusi mei he faʻahinga ʻo Penisimani. ‌ʻE Sihova ko hoku ʻOtua, ʻoku ou falala pe kiate koe: ke ke fakamoʻui au meiate kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku fakatangaʻi au, mo ke fakahaofi au.
[A meditation by David, which he sang to the LORD, concerning the words of Cush, the Benjamite.] LORD, my God, I take refuge in you. Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
2 Telia naʻa ne haehae hoku laumālie ʻo hangē ko e laione, ʻo haehae ia ke fakaikiiki, ʻoka ʻikai ha fakahaofi.
lest they tear apart my soul like a lion, ripping it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
3 ‌ʻE Sihova ko hoku ʻOtua, kapau naʻaku fai eni; kapau ʻoku ai ha angahala ʻi hoku nima;
LORD, my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands,
4 Kapau ne u totongi kovi kiate ia naʻe nofo ʻi he melino mo au; ʻio, naʻaku fakamoʻui ia ʻaia kuo hoko ko hoku fili taʻehanoʻuhinga:
if I have rewarded evil to him who was at peace with me, or oppressed my enemy without cause,
5 Tuku ke tuli hoku laumālie ʻe he fili, pea maʻu ia; ʻio, tuku ke ne molomoloki hifo ʻeku moʻui ʻi he kelekele, pea fakatokoto hoku ongoongolelei ʻi he efu. (Sila)
let the enemy pursue my soul, and overtake it; yes, let him tread my life down to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. (Selah)
6 Tuʻu hake, ʻE Sihova, ʻi ho houhau, ke ke hiki hake koe, ko e meʻa ʻi he lili ʻo hoku ngaahi fili: pea ke ʻā hake koeʻuhi ko au ki he fakamaau ʻaia naʻa ke fekau.
Arise, LORD, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Awake, my God; you have appointed judgment.
7 Pehē ʻe kāpui koe ʻe he fakataha ʻoe kakai: ko ia ko e meʻa ʻiate kinautolu ke ke hāʻele hake ki ʻolunga.
And let the congregation of the peoples surround you, and rule over them on high.
8 ‌ʻE fakamaau ʻe Sihova ʻae kakai: ke ke fakamaau au, ʻE Sihova, ʻo fakatatau ki heʻeku māʻoniʻoni, pea hangē ko ʻeku angatonu ʻoku ʻiate au.
The LORD administers judgment to the peoples. Judge me, LORD, according to my righteousness, and to my integrity that is in me.
9 Tuku ke ngata ʻae kovi ʻoe angakovi, ka ke fakatuʻumaʻu ʻae angatonu: he ʻoku ʻahiʻahiʻi ʻe he ʻOtua māʻoniʻoni ʻae ngaahi loto mo e ngaahi konga loto.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous. The righteous God tests hearts and minds.
10 ‌ʻOku ʻi he ʻOtua ʻa hoku fakaū, ʻaia ʻoku ne fakamoʻui ʻae kakai angatonu ʻi loto.
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
11 ‌ʻOku fakamaau ʻe he ʻOtua ʻae māʻoniʻoni, pea ʻoku houhau ʻae ʻOtua ki he angakovi ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē.
God is a righteous judge, yes, a God who has indignation every day.
12 Kapau ʻe ʻikai te ne tafoki, te ne fakamata ʻa ʻene heletā; kuo ne teteke ʻene kaufana, ʻo teuteu ia.
If a man doesn't relent, he will sharpen his sword; he has bent and strung his bow.
13 Kuo ne teuteu foki kiate ia ʻae ngaahi meʻa fakapō; ʻoku ne tuʻutuʻuni ʻene ngaahi ngahau ki he kau fakatanga.
He has also prepared for himself deadly weapons. He makes ready his flaming arrows.
14 Vakai, ʻoku langā ia ʻi he angakovi, pea kuo ne tuʻituʻia ʻae angapauʻu, pea fanauʻi ʻe ia ʻae kākā.
Look, he travails with iniquity. Yes, he has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
15 Naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae luo, ʻo keli ia, pea kuo tō ia ki he luo naʻa ne ngaohi.
He has dug a hole, and has fallen into the pit which he made.
16 ‌ʻE foki ki hono ʻulu ʻoʻona ʻa ʻene angapauʻu, pea ʻe tō hifo ki hono tumuʻaki ʻoʻona ʻa ʻene ngāue fakamālohi.
The trouble he causes shall return to his own head, and his violence shall come down on the crown of his own head.
17 Te u fakafetaʻi kia Sihova ʻo fakatatau ki heʻene māʻoniʻoni: pea te u hiva ʻaki ʻae fakafetaʻi ki he huafa ʻo Sihova ʻoku māʻolunga taha pe.
I will give thanks to the LORD according to his righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
