< Saame 64 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. Fanongo ki hoku leʻo, ʻE ʻOtua, ʻi heʻeku lotu: fakahaofi ʻeku moʻui mei he manavahē ki he fili.
“To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint: preserve my life from the dread of the enemy.
2 Fakafufū au mei he filioʻi ʻae kau angahala; mei he angatuʻu fakamaveuveu ʻoe kau fai kovi:
Hide me from the secret counsel of evil-doers, from the tumultuous assault of the workers of wickedness;
3 ʻOku nau fakamata honau ʻelelo ʻo hangē ko e heletā, ʻonau teke ʻenau kaufana ke fanaʻi ʻenau ngaahi ngahau, ʻio, ko e ngaahi lea kona.
Who whet their tongue like a sword, who aim with their arrow, the bitter word:
4 Koeʻuhi ke nau fana ʻi he lilo ki he haohaoa: ʻoku nau fana fakafokifā pe kiate ia, ʻo taʻemanavahē.
To shoot in secret at the innocent; suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
5 ʻOku nau fetokoniʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻi he meʻa kovi: ʻoku nau fakakaukau ke tau ʻae ngaahi tauhele ʻi he lilo; ʻoku nau pehē, “Ko hai te ne mamata kiate kimautolu?”
They encourage themselves in an evil plan; they tell secretly of laying snares: they say, Who will see them?
6 ʻOku nau kumi ke ʻilo ʻae ngaahi kovi ʻoku nau faʻa ʻeke ke lahi: ʻoku taumamaʻo ʻae mahalo mo e loto ʻokinautolu kotoa pē.
They search out iniquities; “We are ready with the carefully searched out device:” and the inward thought and heart of each is deeply [hidden].
7 Ka ʻe fana ʻe he ʻOtua kiate kinautolu ʻaki ʻae ngahau; te nau lavea fakafokifā pe.
But God shooteth at them suddenly [his] arrow; —[thence] are come their wounds.
8 Ko ia tenau ngaohi honau ʻelelo ke tō kiate kinautolu: ʻe hola ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku mamata kiate kinautolu.
And their own tongues will stumble over themselves: all that look on them will shake their head.
9 Pea ʻe manavahē ʻae tangata kotoa pē, ʻonau fakahā ʻae ngāue ʻae ʻOtua; he tenau fakakaukau poto ki heʻene ngāue.
All men shall fear, and shall declare the deeds of God, and understand his works.
10 ʻE fiefia ʻae māʻoniʻoni ʻi he ʻEiki, pea falala kiate ia; pea vikiviki ai ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku angatonu ʻi loto.
The righteous shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glorify themselves.
