< Saame 59 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ʻAli-Tasikiti, ko e Saame mahuʻinga ʻa Tevita, ʻi he fekau ʻa Saula ke nau leʻohi ʻae fale ke tāmateʻi ia. ʻE hoku ʻOtua, ke ke fakahaofi au mei hoku ngaahi fili: maluʻi au meiate kinautolu ʻoku tuʻu hake kiate au.
For the end. Destroy not: by David for a memorial, when Saul sent, and watched his house to kill him. Deliver me from mine enemies, O God; and ransom me from those that rise up against me.
2 Ke ke fakahaofi au mei he kau fai kovi mo ke fakamoʻui au mei he kau tangata pani toto.
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
3 Vakai, ʻoku nau tatali ʻo lama ki hoku laumālie: ʻE Sihova, kuo kātoa fakataha ʻae kau mālohi kiate au: ka ʻoku ʻikai ʻi heʻeku talangataʻa, pe ko ʻeku angahala.
For, behold, they have hunted after my soul; violent men have set upon me: neither [is it] my iniquity, nor my sin, O Lord.
4 ʻOku nau feleleʻi ʻo teuʻi ʻakinautolu, ka ʻoku ʻikai haʻaku kovi: ke ke ʻā ke tokoni au, pea ke ʻafioʻi.
Without iniquity I ran and directed [my course aright]: awake to help me, and behold.
5 Pea ko koe, ʻE Sihova, ko e ʻOtua, ʻoe ngaahi tokolahi, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, ke ke ʻā hake ʻo ʻahiʻahi ki he hiteni kotoa pē: ʻoua naʻa ke ʻaloʻofa ki he kau angakovi kākā. (Sila)
And thou, Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, draw nigh to visit all the heathen; pity not any that work iniquity. (Pause)
6 ʻOku nau liu mai ʻi he efiafi: ʻoku nau longoaʻa ʻo hangē ko e kulī, pea ʻalu fakatakamilo ʻi he kolo.
They shall return at evening, and hunger like a dog, and go round about the city.
7 Vakai, ʻoku nau hake ʻi honau ngutu: ʻoku ʻi honau loungutu ʻae ngaahi heletā: he ʻoku nau pehē, “ko hai ʻoku ne fanongo?”
Behold, they shall utter a voice with their mouth, and a sword is in their lips; for who, [say they], has heard?
8 Ka ko koe, ʻE Sihova, te ke kata kiate kinautolu; te ke manuki ki he hiteni kotoa pē.
But thou, Lord, wilt laugh them to scorn; thou wilt utterly set at nought all the heathen.
9 Pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene mālohi ko ia te u tatali ai kiate koe: he ko hoku hūfanga ʻae ʻOtua.
will keep my strength, [looking] to thee; for thou, O God, art my helper.
10 Ko e ʻOtua ʻoku ʻaloʻofa kiate au te ne tokoni au: ʻe tuku kiate au ʻe he ʻOtua ke u mamata ki heʻeku holi ki hoku ngaahi fili.
[As for] my God, his mercy shall go before me: my God will shew me [vengeance] on mine enemies.
11 ʻOua naʻa ke tāmateʻi ʻakinautolu, telia naʻa ngalo ʻi hoku kakai; fakahēʻi ʻakinautolu ke mamaʻo ʻi ho mālohi; pea ʻohifo ki lalo ʻakinautolu, ʻE ʻEiki, ko homau fakaū.
Slay them not, lest they forget thy law; scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord, my defender.
12 Ko e meʻa ʻi he angahala ʻa honau ngutu, mo e ngaahi lea ʻa honau loungutu, tuku ke moʻua ai ʻakinautolu ʻi heʻenau laukau: koeʻuhi ko e kape mo e loi ʻoku nau lea ʻaki.
[For] the sin of their mouth, [and] the word of their lips, let them be even taken in their pride.
13 Fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻi he houhau, fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ke ʻoua naʻa kei ai ʻakinautolu: pea tuku ke ʻilo ʻekinautolu ʻoku pule, ʻae ʻOtua, ʻia Sēkope, ʻo aʻu ki he ngaahi ngataʻanga ʻo māmani. (Sila)
And for [their] cursing and falsehood shall utter destruction be denounced: [they shall fall] by the wrath of utter destruction, and shall not be; so shall they know that the God of Jacob is Lord of the ends of the earth. (Pause)
14 Pea tuku kenau liu mai ʻi he efiafi; tuku kenau longoaʻa ʻo hangē ko e kulī, ʻo ʻalu fakatakamilo ʻi he kolo.
They shall return at evening, and be hungry as a dog, and go round about the city.
15 Tuku kenau ʻalu ʻo hē fano ai pē ʻo kumi kai, pea lāunga ʻo kapau ʻe ʻikai tenau mākona.
They shall be scattered hither and thither for meat; and if they be not satisfied, they shall even murmur.
16 Ka te u hiva au ki ho mālohi; ʻio, te u hiva mālohi ʻi hoʻo ʻaloʻofa ʻi he pongipongi: he ko hoku ungaʻanga koe, mo e hūfanga kiate au ʻi he ʻaho ʻo ʻeku mamahi.
But I will sing to thy strength, and in the morning will I exult [in] thy mercy; for thou hast been my supporter, and my refuge in the day of mine affliction.
17 ʻE hoku mālohi, te u hiva kiate koe: he ko hoku kalofanga ʻae ʻOtua, ko e ʻOtua ʻoku ʻaloʻofa kiate au.
[Thou art] my helper; to thee, my God, will I sing; thou art my supporter, O my God, [and] my mercy.
