1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ʻAli-Tasikiti, ko e Saame mahuʻinga ʻa Tevita. ‌ʻAe fakataha, ʻoku moʻoni ʻa hoʻomou lea māʻoniʻoni ʻakimoutolu? ʻAe ngaahi foha ʻoe tangata, ʻoku mou fakamaau totonu koā?
[For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A poem by David.] Do you rulers indeed speak righteousness? Do you judge blamelessly, you descendants of Adam?
2 ‌ʻIo, ʻoku mou fai kovi ʻi loto; ʻoku mou fakamamafa ʻae kovi ʻo homou nima ʻi māmani.
No, in your heart you plot injustice. You measure out the violence of your hands in the earth.
3 Talu ʻae māvae ʻae angakovi mo e manāva mo ʻenau hē: ʻoku nau ʻalu hē leva talu ʻenau fanauʻi, ʻi he lea loi.
The wicked go astray from the womb. They are wayward as soon as they are born, speaking lies.
4 Ko honau kona ʻoku hangē ko e kona ʻoe ngata: ʻoku nau tatau mo e ngata tuli ʻoku ne tāpuni hono telinga;
Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; like a deaf viper that stops its ear,
5 ‌ʻAia ʻe ʻikai tokanga ki he leʻo ʻoe kau fakafiemālie, neongo ʻae poto lahi ʻoe tangata faiva.
which doesn't listen to the voice of charmers, no matter how skillful the charmer may be.
6 ‌ʻE ʻOtua, ke ke sili honau kau nifo ʻi honau ngutu: ʻE Sihova, pakiʻi ʻo toʻo kituʻa ʻae kau nifo lahi ʻoe fanga laione mui.
Break their teeth, God, in their mouth. Break out the great teeth of the young lions, LORD.
7 Tuku ke vela ʻo vai ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e vai ʻoku tafe maʻuaipē: ʻoka teteke ʻe ia ʻene kau fana ke fana ʻaki ʻene ngaahi ngahau, tuku ke tuʻutuʻu ʻakinautolu.
Let them vanish as water that flows away. When they draw the bow, let their arrows be made blunt.
8 Ke mole ʻo ʻosi ʻakinautolu ʻo hangē ko e sineli: tuku ke nau hangē ko e tama taʻehoko ʻae fefine, koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa nau mamata ki he laʻā.
Let them be like a snail which melts and passes away, like the stillborn child, who has not seen the sun.
9 ‌ʻI he teʻeki vela ki hoʻomou kulo ʻae okooko ʻakau talatala, ʻe ʻosi ʻene ʻave moʻui ʻakinautolu ʻi hono houhau, ʻo hangē ko e ʻahiohio.
Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns, he will sweep away the green and the burning alike.
10 ‌ʻE fiefia ʻae māʻoniʻoni ʻi heʻene mamata ki he totongi: ʻe fufulu ʻe ia hono vaʻe ʻi he toto ʻoe angakovi.
The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked;
11 Ko ia ʻe pehē ai ʻe he tangata, “Ko e moʻoni ʻoku ai ʻae totongi ki he māʻoniʻoni: ko e moʻoni ko e ʻOtua ia ʻoku fakamaau ʻi māmani.”
so that men shall say, "Most certainly there is a reward for the righteous. Most certainly there is a God who judges the earth."
