< Saame 53 >

1 Ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Mahalati, ko e Saame akonaki ʻa Tevita. Kuo pehē ʻe he vale ʻi hono loto, “ʻOku ʻikai ha ʻOtua.” Kuo kovi ʻakinautolu, pea kuo nau fai ʻae kovi fakalielia: ʻoku ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻoku fai lelei.
[For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Mahalath." A contemplation by David.] The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity. There is no one who does good.
2 Naʻe ʻafio hifo ʻae ʻOtua mei he langi ki he fānau ʻae tangata, ke vakai pe ʻoku ai ha niʻihi ʻoku ʻilo, mo kumi ki he ʻOtua.
God looks down from heaven on the descendants of Adam, to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God.
3 Kuo foki kotoa pē kimui ʻakinautolu: kuo nau hoko ʻo fakalielia kotoa pē: ʻoku ʻikai ha tokotaha ʻoku fai lelei, ʻoku ʻikai ʻaupito ha taha.
Every one of them has gone back. They have become filthy together. There is no one who does good, no, not one.
4 “ʻOku ʻikai ha ʻilo ʻiate kinautolu ʻoku fai kovi? ʻAkinautolu ʻoku kai ʻo ʻosi hoku kakai ʻo hangē ko ʻenau kai mā: naʻe ʻikai te nau ui ki he ʻOtua.”
Have evildoers no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on God?
5 Pea naʻe manavahē lahi ai ʻakinautolu, ka naʻe ʻikai ha meʻa ke manavahē ai: he kuo laku kehekehe ʻe he ʻOtua ʻae ngaahi hui ʻo ia naʻa ne tauʻi koe: Kuo ke fakamaaʻi ʻakinautolu, he kuo fehiʻa ʻae ʻOtua kiate kinautolu.
There they will be in great fear, where no fear had been, for God will scatter the bones of those who encamp against you. You will put them to shame, because God has rejected them.
6 Ko hai te ne foaki mei Saione ʻae fakamoʻui ki ʻIsileli? ʻOka toe ʻomi ʻe he ʻOtua hono kakai kuo pōpula, ʻe fiefia ai ʻa Sēkope, pea nekeneka ʻa ʻIsileli.
Oh that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion. When God brings back his people from captivity, may Jacob rejoice, may Israel be glad.
