< Saame 51 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita, ʻi he haʻu kiate ia ʻae palōfita ko Natani, hili ʻene fai kovi mo Patisepa.
For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David, when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, God, according to your loving kindness. According to the multitude of your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions.
2 Ke ke fufulu ʻaupito au mei heʻeku hia, mo fakamaʻa au mei heʻeku angahala:
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me from my sin.
3 He ʻoku ou fakamoʻoni ʻeku ngaahi talangataʻa: pea ʻoku tuʻumaʻu aipē ʻi hoku ʻao ʻeku angahala.
For I know my transgressions. My sin is constantly before me.
4 Naʻaku fai angahala kiate koe, ʻio, kiate koe pē kuo u fai ʻae kovi ni ʻi ho ʻao; koeʻuhi ke tonuhia pe ʻa koe ʻoka ke ka folofola, pea māʻoniʻoni ʻoka ke ka fai ʻae fakamaau.
Against you, and you only, I have sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight, so you may be proved right when you speak, and justified when you judge.
5 Vakai, naʻe fanauʻi au ʻi he angakovi pea naʻe tuʻituʻia ʻeku faʻē ʻiate au ko e angahala.
Behold, I was born in iniquity. My mother conceived me in sin.
6 Vakai, ʻoku ke finangalo ki he moʻoni ʻi loto: pea ʻi he fufū te ke ngaohi ai au ke u ʻilo ʻae poto.
Behold, you desire truth in the inward parts. You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
7 Ke ke fakamaʻa au ʻaki ʻae ʻisope, pea te u maʻa ai: fufulu au, pea te u hinehina lahi ʻi he ʻuha hinehina.
Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Tuku ke u fanongo ki he fiefia mo e nekeneka; ke fiemālie ai ʻae ngaahi hui kuo ke fesiʻi.
Let me hear joy and gladness, that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.
9 Ke ke fufū ho fofonga mei heʻeku angahala, mo ke tāmateʻi ʻeku ngaahi hia kotoa pē.
Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all of my iniquities.
10 ʻE ʻOtua, ke ke fakatupu ʻiate au ʻae loto maʻa; mo ke fakafoʻou ʻiate au ha laumālie tuʻumaʻu.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.
11 ʻOua naʻa ke liʻaki au mei ho ʻao pea ʻoua naʻa ke toʻo ʻiate au ho laumālie māʻoniʻoni.
Don’t throw me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Toe ʻomi kiate au ʻae fiefia ʻo hoʻo fakamoʻui; mo ke poupou ʻaki au ho laumālie tauʻatāina.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation. Uphold me with a willing spirit.
13 Pea te u akonaki ʻaki ʻae kau talangataʻa ʻa ho ngaahi hala; pea ʻe liliu kiate koe ʻae kau angahala.
Then I will teach transgressors your ways. Sinners will be converted to you.
14 ʻE ʻOtua, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻeku moʻui, ke ke fakamoʻui au mei he hia ʻoe toto: pea ʻe hiva kalanga ʻa hoku ʻelelo ʻi hoʻo māʻoniʻoni.
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, the God of my salvation. My tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
15 ʻE ʻEiki ke ke faʻai hoku loungutu, pea ʻe fakahā atu ʻe hoku ngutu ʻa hoʻo fakamālō.
Lord, open my lips. My mouth will declare your praise.
16 He ʻoku ʻikai te ke finangalo ki he feilaulau, koeʻuhi ke u ʻatu ia: ʻoku ʻikai te ke fiemālie ʻi he feilaulau tutu.
For you don’t delight in sacrifice, or else I would give it. You have no pleasure in burnt offering.
17 Ko e ngaahi feilaulau ʻoe ʻOtua ko e laumālie mafesi: ko e loto mafesi mo māfofoa, ʻE ʻOtua, ʻe ʻikai te ke manukiʻi.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. O God, you will not despise a broken and contrite heart.
18 Fai lelei ʻi ho finangalo lelei ki Saione: ke ke fokotuʻu hake ʻae ngaahi ʻā ʻo Selūsalema.
Do well in your good pleasure to Zion. Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Pea te ke fiemālie ʻi he ngaahi feilaulau ʻoe māʻoniʻoni, mo e feilaulau tutu, mo e ngaahi feilaulau tutu kotoa: pea te nau toki ʻatu ʻae fanga pulu ki hoʻo feilaulauʻanga.
Then you will delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt offerings and in whole burnt offerings. Then they will offer bulls on your altar.
