< Saame 5 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Nekiloti, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. Ke ke fofonga mai ki heʻeku ngaahi lea, ʻE Sihova, tokanga ki heʻeku fakalaulauloto.
Yahweh, listen to me while I pray! Pay attention to me when I am groaning [because I am suffering very much].
2 Ke ke fanongo ki he leʻo ʻo ʻeku tangi, ʻE hoku tuʻi, mo hoku ʻOtua: he te u lotu pe kiate koe.
You are my King and my God. When I call to you to ask you to help me, listen to me, because you are the one to whom I pray.
3 Ko hoku leʻo te ke ongoʻi ʻE Sihova, ʻi he pongipongi; ʻi he pongipongi te u ʻohake ʻeku lotu kiate koe, pea u hanga hake.
Listen to me when I pray to you [each] morning, and I wait for you to reply.
4 He ʻoku ʻikai ko e ʻOtua koe ʻoku fiemālie ʻi he angahala: pea ʻe ʻikai nonofo mo koe ʻae kovi.
You are not a god who is pleased with wicked people; you do not (associate with/invite into your house) [those who do what is] evil.
5 ʻE ʻikai tuʻu ʻi ho ʻao ʻae kau vale: ʻoku ke fehiʻa ki he kakai fai kovi kotoa pē.
You do not allow those who are very proud to come to you to worship you. You hate all those who do evil things.
6 Te ke fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻoku lea loi: ʻe fakaliliʻa ʻa Sihova ki he tangata pani toto mo kākā.
You get rid of liars, and you despise those who murder [others] and those who deceive [others].
7 Ka ko au, te u hū ki ho fale ʻi he lahi ʻo hoʻo ʻaloʻofa: pea ʻi he manavahē kiate koe te u hū ʻi he faletapu ʻo hoʻo māʻoniʻoni.
Yahweh, because you love me so much and so faithfully, I come into your temple. I revere you greatly, and I bow down to worship you at your sacred temple.
8 Tataki au, ʻE Sihova, ʻi hoʻo māʻoniʻoni koeʻuhi ko hoku ngaahi fili; fakatotonu ho hala ʻi hoku mata.
Yahweh, because you act righteously toward me, show me what is right for me to do. Because I have many enemies, show me clearly what you want me to do.
9 He ʻoku ʻikai ha moʻoni ʻi honau ngutu; ʻoku mātuʻaki kovi honau loto; ko honau kia ko e fonualoto kuo matangaki; ʻoku nau lapu ʻaki honau ʻelelo.
My enemies never say what is true; they just want to destroy [others]. The things that they say [MTY] are [as foul as] an open grave [where a corpse is decaying]. They use their tongues to tell lies.
10 Ke ke fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu, ʻE ʻOtua; tuku ke nau hinga ʻi heʻenau ngaahi fakakaukau ʻanautolu; ke ke lī kituʻa ʻakinautolu ʻi he lahi ʻo ʻenau talangataʻa; he kuo nau angatuʻu kiate koe.
O God, declare that they are guilty [MTY] [and punish them]. Cause them to experience the same disasters/troubles that they plan to cause to happen to others. Get rid of them because they have committed many sins, and they have rebelled against you.
11 Kae tuku ke fiefia ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻaia ʻoku falala kiate koe: ke nau kalanga maʻuaipē ʻi he fiefia, ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo maluʻi ʻakinautolu: tuku ke fiefia ʻiate koe ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻofa ki ho huafa.
But cause that all those who go to you to be protected will rejoice; cause them to sing joyfully to you forever. Protect those who love you [MTY]; they are truly happy because (of what you [do for them/they belong to] you).
12 He ko koe, ʻE Sihova, te ke tāpuaki ʻae māʻoniʻoni; te ke kāpui ʻaki ia ʻae ʻofa ʻo hangē ko e fakaū.
Yahweh, you always bless those who act righteously; you protect them like a [soldier is protected by his] shield [SIM].
