< Saame 49 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ki he ngaahi foha ʻo Kola. Mou fanongo ki he meʻa ni, ʻae kakai kotoa pē; fakafanongo, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku nofo ʻi māmani:
To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Heare this, all ye people: giue eare, all ye that dwell in the world,
2 ʻAe māʻulalo mo e māʻolunga, ʻae maʻumeʻa mo e masiva, fakataha.
As well lowe as hie, both rich and poore.
3 ʻE lea hoku ngutu ʻi he poto; pea ʻe kau ki he ʻilo ʻae fakakaukau ʻa hoku loto.
My mouth shall speake of wisdome, and the meditation of mine heart is of knowledge.
4 Te u fakatokangaʻi hoku telinga ki he lea fakatātā: te u fakahā ʻi he haʻape ʻeku lea ʻilongataʻa.
I will incline mine eare to a parable, and vtter my graue matter vpon the harpe.
5 Ko e hā te u manavahē ai ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ʻoe kovi, ʻoka takatakai au ʻe he hia ʻo hoku vaʻe?
Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles?
6 Ko kinautolu ʻoku falala ki heʻenau mālohi, ʻo polepole ʻi hono lahi ʻo ʻenau koloa;
They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.
7 ʻOku ʻikai ʻaupito faʻa fai ʻe hanau tokotaha ke huhuʻi hono tokoua, pe ʻatu ki he ʻOtua hano totongi:
Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God,
8 He ko e huhuʻi ʻo honau laumālie ʻoku mahuʻinga lahi, pea ʻoku tuku ai pe ia ʻo taʻengata:
(So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer)
9 Koeʻuhi ke ne kei moʻui maʻuaipē, pea ʻikai ʻilo ʻae ʻauʻauha.
That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue.
10 He ʻoku ne mamata ʻoku mate ʻae kau tangata poto, pea ʻoku ʻauha foki ʻae tangata vale pea mo e taʻeʻilo, ʻonau tuku ʻenau koloa ki he kakai kehe.
For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others.
11 ʻOku mahalo ʻa honau loto, ʻe tuʻumaʻu pē honau fale ʻo taʻengata, mo honau ngaahi nofoʻanga ki he toʻutangata kotoa pē; ʻoku nau fakahingoa honau ʻapi ki honau hingoa ʻonautolu.
Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.
12 Ka ko e moʻoni ko e tangata ʻoku māʻolunga ʻoku ʻikai tuʻumaʻu ia: ʻoku tatau ia mo e fanga manu ʻoku ʻauha.
But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die.
13 Pea ko honau hala ni ko ʻenau vale ia: ka ʻoku mālieʻia honau hako ʻi heʻenau ngaahi lea. (Sila)
This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. (Selah)
14 Kuo tuku ʻakinautolu ki he faʻitoka ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi; ʻe fafanga ʻaki ʻae mate ʻakinautolu; pea ʻe maʻu ʻae mālohi kiate kinautolu ʻe he kakai angatonu ʻi he pongipongi; pea ʻe ʻauha honau matamatalelei ʻi he faʻitoka mei honau nofoʻanga. (Sheol )
Like sheepe they lie in graue: death deuoureth them, and the righteous shall haue domination ouer them in the morning: for their beautie shall consume, when they shall goe from their house to graue. (Sheol )
15 Ka ʻe huhuʻi hoku laumālie ʻe he ʻOtua mei he mālohi ʻoe faʻitoka: he te ne maʻu au. (Sila) (Sheol )
But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. (Selah) (Sheol )
16 ʻOua naʻa ke manavahē koe ʻoka hoko ʻo koloaʻia ha tokotaha, ʻi he tupu pē ʻae nāunau ʻo hono fale;
Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.
17 He ʻoka mate ia ʻe ʻikai te ne fua ʻo ʻave ha meʻa ʻe taha: ʻe ʻikai muimui hifo ʻiate ia hono nāunau.
For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.
18 Ka ʻi heʻene moʻui naʻa ne tāpuaki hono laumālie: pea ʻe fakamālō ʻae kakai kiate koe, ʻoka ke ka fai lelei kiate koe.
For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.
19 ʻE ʻalu ia ki he toʻutangata ʻo ʻene ngaahi tamai; ʻe ʻikai tenau mamata ki he maama.
He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.
20 Ko e tangata ʻoku māʻolunga, ka ʻoku ʻikai poto, ʻoku tatau ia mo e fanga manu ʻoku ʻauha.
Man is in honour, and vnderstandeth not: he is like to beasts that perish.
