1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e akonaki ki he ngaahi foha ʻo Kola. ʻE ʻOtua, naʻa mau fanongo ʻaki homau telinga, pea kuo tala kiate kimautolu ʻe heʻemau ngaahi tamai, ʻae ngāue naʻa ke fai ʻi honau ngaahi ʻaho, ʻi he ngaahi kuonga ʻi muʻa.
“To the chief musician, for the sons of Korach, a Maskil.” O God, with our ears have we heard, our fathers have told us, deeds which thou hadst done in their days, in times of old.
2 Naʻa ke kapusi kituʻa ʻae hiteni ʻaki ho nima, mo ke tō ʻakinautolu: naʻa ke tautea ʻae kakai, pea mafola atu ʻakinautolu.
Thou, with thy hand, didst indeed drive out nations, and plant them; thou didst ill-treat people, and cause them to spread out.
3 He naʻe ʻikai te nau maʻu ʻae fonua ʻi he heletā ʻanautolu, pea naʻe ʻikai fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu ʻe honau nima: ka ko ho ʻaofi nima, mo ho nima toʻomataʻu, mo e maama ʻo ho fofonga, koeʻuhi naʻa ke ʻofa kiate kinautolu.
For not by their sword did they obtain possession of the land, and their own arm brought them no victory; but thy right hand, and thy arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst given them thy favor.
4 He ko koe ko hoku Tuʻi, ʻE ʻOtua ke ke fekau ʻae fakamoʻui kia Sēkope.
Thou art my King, O God: ordain salvation for Jacob.
5 Ko e meʻa ʻiate koe temau tulaki homau ngaahi fili: ko e meʻa ʻi ho huafa temau malamalaki ki lalo ʻakinautolu ʻoku tuʻu hake kiate kimautolu.
Through thee will we butt down our assailants: through thy name will we tread under foot our opponents.
6 Koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai te u falala ki heʻeku kaufana, pea ʻe ʻikai fakamoʻui au ʻe heʻeku heletā.
For not in my bow will I trust, and my sword shall not help me.
7 Ka ko koe kuo ke fakamoʻui ʻakimautolu mei homau ngaahi fili, pea kuo ke tuku ke mā ʻakinautolu naʻe fehiʻa kiate kimautolu.
But thou helpest us against our assailants, and those that hate us thou puttest to shame.
8 ʻOku mau vikiviki ʻi he ʻOtua ʻi he ʻaho kotoa, ʻo fakamālō ki ho huafa ʻo taʻengata. (Sila)
Of God we boast all the day, and to thy name will we give thanks for ever. (Selah)
9 Ka kuo ke liʻaki, pea tuku ke mā ʻakimautolu; pea ʻikai te ke ʻalu atu mo ʻemau ngaahi kongakau.
But [now] thou hast cast off, and put us to the blush, and goest not forth with our armies.
10 ʻOku ke pule ke mau foki mai mei he fili: pea ko kinautolu ʻoku fehiʻa kiate kimautolu ʻoku nau maumau maʻanautolu.
Thou causest us to turn back from before our assailant: and they who hate us take spoil for themselves.
11 Kuo ke foaki ʻakimautolu ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi kuo fili ki he kai; pea kuo ke fakahēʻi ʻakimautolu ki he hiteni.
Thou givest us up like sheep for food, and among the nations hast thou dispersed us.
12 ʻOku ke fakatau hoʻo kakai taʻehatotongi, pea ʻoku ʻikai te ke fakalahi hoʻo koloa ʻaki honau totongi.
Thou sellest thy people for no value, and acquirest no gain by their price.
13 ʻOku ke ngaohi ʻakimautolu ko e manukiʻanga ʻo homau ngaahi kaungāʻapi, ko e meʻa manuki mo e taukaeʻanga ʻokinautolu ʻoku nofo takatakai ʻiate kimautolu.
Thou renderest us a reproach to our neighbors, a scorn and a derision to those that are round about us.
14 ʻOku ke ngaohi ʻakimautolu ko e lumaʻanga ʻoe hiteni, ko e kalokaloʻanga ʻoe ʻulu ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai.
Thou renderest us a by-word among the nations, a shaking of the head among the people.
15 ʻOku ʻi hoku ʻao maʻuaipē ʻeku kovi, pea kuo ʻufiʻufi ʻaki au ʻae mā ʻo hoku mata,
All the day is my disgrace before me, and the shame of my face covereth me;
16 Koeʻuhi ko e leʻo ʻo ia ʻoku ne taukae mo kape; ko e meʻa ʻi he fili mo e fakafāsifasi.
Because of the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and him that seeketh vengeance.
17 Kuo hoko ʻae meʻa ni kotoa pē kiate kimautolu; ka naʻe ʻikai te mau fakangalongaloʻi koe, pea naʻe ʻikai te mau fai kākā ʻi hoʻo fuakava.
All this is come over us, yet have we not forgotten thee; nor have we dealt falsely by thy covenant;
18 ʻOku ʻikai foki kimui homau loto, pe afe mei ho hala homau ʻaluʻanga;
Our heart is not moved backward, nor hath our step turned aside from thy path:
19 Kuo ke fesifesi ʻakimautolu ʻi he potu ʻoe fanga talākoni, mo ʻufiʻufi ʻaki ʻakimautolu ʻae ʻata ʻoe mate.
Even when thou didst crush us in the abode of monsters, and cover us with the shadow of death.
20 Kapau kuo mau fakangaloʻi ʻae huafa ʻo homau ʻOtua, pe mafao atu homau nima ki ha ʻotua kehe;
If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange God:
21 ʻIkai ʻe ʻeke ia ʻe he ʻOtua? He ʻoku ne ʻiloʻi ʻae ngaahi meʻa fufū ʻoe loto.
Would not God search out this? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22 ʻIo, koeʻuhi ko koe ʻoku tāmateʻi ʻakimautolu ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē; ʻoku lau ʻakimautolu ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi ke tāmateʻi.
But for thy sake are we slain all the day; we are counted as flocks [destined] for slaughter.
23 Ke ke ʻā, ko e hā ʻoku ke mohe ai, ʻE Sihova? Tuʻu hake, ʻoua naʻa ke liʻaki ʻakimautolu ʻo taʻengata.
Awake, wherefore wilt thou sleep, O Lord? arise, abandon us not for ever.
24 Ko e hā ʻoku ke fufū ai ho fofonga, ʻo fakangaloʻi homau tautea mo homau taʻomia?
Wherefore wilt thou hide thy face, wilt thou forget our misery, and our oppression?
25 He kuo lolohifo homau laumālie ki he efu: kuo hiki homau kete ki he kelekele.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our body cleaveth unto the earth.
26 Tuʻu hake ko homau tokoni, pea huhuʻi ʻakimautolu koeʻuhi ko hoʻo ʻaloʻofa.
Arise unto our help, and redeem us for the sake of thy kindness.
