< Saame 41 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. ʻOku monūʻia ia ʻaia ʻoku tokanga ki he masiva: ʻe fakamoʻui ia ʻe Sihova he ʻaho ʻoe kovi.
For the end, a Psalm of David. Blessed [is the man] who thinks, on the poor and needy: the Lord shall deliver him in an evil day.
2 ʻE tauhi ia ʻe Sihova, mo pule ke moʻui ia; pea te ne monūʻia ʻi māmani: pea ʻe ʻikai te ke tukuange ia ki he loto ʻo hono ngaahi fili.
May the Lord preserve him and keep him alive, and bless him on the earth, and not deliver him into the hands of his enemy.
3 ʻE fakamālohi ia ʻe Sihova ʻi he tokotoʻanga fakamamahi: te ke ngaohi hono mohenga kotoa pē ʻi hono mahaki.
May the Lord help him upon the bed of his pain; you have made all his bed in his sickness.
4 Naʻaku pehē, “ʻE Sihova, ke ke ʻaloʻofa mai kiate au: fakamoʻui hoku laumālie; he kuo u fai angahala kiate koe.”
I said, O Lord, have mercy upon me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against you.
5 ʻOku lauʻikoviʻi au ʻe hoku ngaahi fili: ʻE mate ʻafē ia, pea ʻauha hono hingoa?
Mine enemies have spoken evil against me, [saying], When shall he die, and his name perish?
6 Pea kapau ʻe haʻu ia ke vakai au, ʻoku ne lea loi: ʻoku tānaki ʻe hono loto kiate ia ʻae kovi; ʻoku ʻalu ia kituaʻā, ʻo fakahā ia.
And if he came to see [me], his heart spoke vainly; he gathered iniquity to himself; he went forth and spoke in like manner.
7 ʻOku fefanafanahi kiate au ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku fehiʻa kiate au: ʻoku nau fakakaukau kovi kiate au.
All my enemies whispered against me; against me they devised my hurt.
8 ʻOku nau pehē, “ʻOku piki maʻu kiate ia ʻae mahaki kovi: pea ko ʻene tokoto ni ʻe ʻikai te ne toetuʻu hake mei ai.”
They denounced a wicked word against me, [saying], Now that he lies, shall he not rise up again?
9 ʻIo, ko hoku kaumeʻa moʻoni, ʻaia naʻaku falala ki ai, ʻaia naʻa ne kai ʻi heʻeku mā, kuo hiki hake ʻe ia hono mui vaʻe kiate au.
For even the man of my peace, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, lifted up [his] heel against me.
10 Ka ko koe, ʻE Sihova, ke ke ʻaloʻofa kiate au, mo fokotuʻu hake au, pea te u totongi kiate kinautolu.
But you, O Lord, have compassion upon me, and raise me up, and I shall requite them.
11 ʻOku ou ʻilo ʻi he meʻa ni ʻoku ke finangalo lelei kiate au, koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai kalanga ʻi he fiefia ʻa hoku fili kiate au.
By this I know that you have delighted in me, because mine enemy shall not rejoice over me.
12 Pea ko au, ʻoku ke poupou hake au ʻi heʻeku angatonu, pea te ke fokotuʻu au ʻi ho ʻao ʻo taʻengata.
But you did help me because of [mine] innocence, and have established me before you for ever.
13 Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli, talu mei muʻa, ʻo taʻengata. ʻEmeni mo ʻEmeni.
Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. So be it, so be it.
