1 Ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Nekina, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. ʻO kau ka kole, fanongo mai kiate au, ʻE ʻOtua ʻo ʻeku māʻoniʻoni: naʻa ke halahalaʻi au mei he mamahi; ke ke ʻaloʻofa mai kiate au, pea fanongo ki heʻeku lotu.
For the Chief Musician; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness; thou hast set me at large [when I was] in distress: have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
2 ʻAe ngaahi foha ʻoe tangata, ʻe ngata ʻafē hoʻomou liliu hoku nāunau ko e meʻa fakamā? ʻe ngata ʻafē hoʻomou ʻofa ki he meʻa vaʻinga pe, ʻo kumi ki he loi? (Sila)
O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be turned into dishonour? [how long] will ye love vanity, and seek after falsehood? (Selah)
3 Ka mou ʻilo kuo vaheʻi ʻe Sihova maʻana ʻaia ʻoku angalelei: ʻe fanongo ʻe Sihova ʻo kau ka kole kiate ia.
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
4 Mou manavahē, pea ʻoua naʻa fai angahala: fakakaukau mo homou loto ʻi homou mohenga, pea mou fakalongo pe. (Sila)
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. (Selah)
5 Feilaulau ʻaki ʻae ngaahi feilaulau māʻoniʻoni, pea mou falala kia Sihova.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
6 ʻOku pehē ʻe he tokolahi, “Ko hai te ne fakahā ha lelei kiate kitautolu?” ʻE Sihova, ke ke hiki hake kiate kimautolu ʻae maama ʻo ho fofonga.
Many there be that say, Who will shew us [any] good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
7 Kuo ke ʻai ki hoku loto ʻae fiefia lahi hake ʻi he fiefia ʻi he kuonga naʻe tupu ʻo lahi ai ʻenau uite mo e uaine.
Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than [they have] when their corn and their wine are increased.
8 Te u tokoto hifo ʻi he fiemālie, ʻo mohe: he ko koe pē, ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ke pule ke u nofo lelei.
In peace will I both lay me down and sleep: for thou, LORD, alone makest me dwell in safety.
