< Saame 4 >

1 Ki he Takimuʻa ʻi he Nekina, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. ‌ʻO kau ka kole, fanongo mai kiate au, ʻE ʻOtua ʻo ʻeku māʻoniʻoni: naʻa ke halahalaʻi au mei he mamahi; ke ke ʻaloʻofa mai kiate au, pea fanongo ki heʻeku lotu.
Unto the end, in verses. A psalm for David. When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer.
2 ‌ʻAe ngaahi foha ʻoe tangata, ʻe ngata ʻafē hoʻomou liliu hoku nāunau ko e meʻa fakamā? ʻe ngata ʻafē hoʻomou ʻofa ki he meʻa vaʻinga pe, ʻo kumi ki he loi? (Sila)
O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying?
3 Ka mou ʻilo kuo vaheʻi ʻe Sihova maʻana ʻaia ʻoku angalelei: ʻe fanongo ʻe Sihova ʻo kau ka kole kiate ia.
Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him.
4 Mou manavahē, pea ʻoua naʻa fai angahala: fakakaukau mo homou loto ʻi homou mohenga, pea mou fakalongo pe. (Sila)
Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds.
5 Feilaulau ʻaki ʻae ngaahi feilaulau māʻoniʻoni, pea mou falala kia Sihova.
Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things?
6 ‌ʻOku pehē ʻe he tokolahi, “Ko hai te ne fakahā ha lelei kiate kitautolu?” ʻE Sihova, ke ke hiki hake kiate kimautolu ʻae maama ʻo ho fofonga.
The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart.
7 Kuo ke ʻai ki hoku loto ʻae fiefia lahi hake ʻi he fiefia ʻi he kuonga naʻe tupu ʻo lahi ai ʻenau uite mo e uaine.
By the fruit of their corn, their wine and oil, they are multiplied.
8 Te u tokoto hifo ʻi he fiemālie, ʻo mohe: he ko koe pē, ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ke pule ke u nofo lelei.
In peace in the selfsame I will sleep, and I will rest: For thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope.
