< Saame 38 >
1 Ko e Saame ʻa Tevita, ko e fakamanatu. ʻE Sihova, ʻoua naʻa ke valokiʻi au ʻi ho houhau: pea ʻoua naʻa ke valokiʻi au ʻi ho houhau vela.
A Psalme of Dauid for remembrance. O Lord, rebuke mee not in thine anger, neither chastise me in thy wrath.
2 He ʻoku tau maʻu ʻiate au hoʻo ngaahi ngahau, pea ʻoku taʻomia fakamamahi au ʻe ho nima.
For thine arrowes haue light vpon me, and thine hand lyeth vpon me.
3 ʻOku ʻikai ha haohaoa ʻi hoku kakano ko e meʻa ʻi ho houhau; pea ʻoku ʻikai ha fiemālie ʻi hoku hui ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku angahala.
There is nothing sound in my flesh, because of thine anger: neither is there rest in my bones because of my sinne.
4 He kuo hake ʻa ʻeku ngaahi hia ʻo ʻufiʻufi hoku ʻulu: ʻo hangē ko e kavenga mamafa ʻoku taʻomia ai au.
For mine iniquities are gone ouer mine head, and as a weightie burden they are too heauie for me.
5 ʻOku ʻeho hoku ngaahi lavea ʻo fakalielia koeʻuhi ko ʻeku vale.
My woundes are putrified, and corrupt because of my foolishnes.
6 ʻOku ou mamahi; ʻoku ou mapelu ki lalo ʻaupito; ʻoku ou ʻalu mamahi pe ʻi he ʻaho kotoa.
I am bowed, and crooked very sore: I goe mourning all the day.
7 He ʻoku fonu hoku sino ʻi he mahaki kovi: pea ʻoku ʻikai ha moʻui haohaoa ʻi hoku kakano.
For my reines are full of burning, and there is nothing sound in my flesh.
8 ʻOku ou vaivai mo mafesi ʻi he mamahi: naʻaku kalanga ko e meʻa ʻi he mamahi ʻo hoku loto.
I am weakened and sore broken: I roare for the very griefe of mine heart.
9 ʻE ʻEiki, ʻoku ʻi ho ʻao ʻeku holi kotoa pē; mo ʻeku ngaahi toʻe ʻoku ʻikai fufū ʻiate koe.
Lord, I powre my whole desire before thee, and my sighing is not hid from thee.
10 ʻOku tatupe hoku mafu, kuo ʻosi ʻeku mālohi: pea ko e maama ʻo hoku mata kuo mole foki ia ʻiate au.
Mine heart panteth: my strength faileth me, and the light of mine eyes, euen they are not mine owne.
11 Ko hoku kaumeʻa ʻofa mo hoku ngaahi kāinga ʻoku nau tutuʻu ʻi he mamaʻo mei hoku teʻia; mo hoku kaungāʻapi ʻoku nau tutuʻu ʻi he mamaʻo.
My louers and my friends stand aside from my plague, and my kinsmen stand a farre off.
12 Ko kinautolu foki ʻoku kumi ki heʻeku moʻui ʻoku nau tō ʻae ngaahi tauhele kiate au: ko kinautolu ʻoku kumi ke u kovi ʻoku nau lea ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa kovi, mo nau fakakaukau ki he meʻa kākā ʻi he ʻaho kotoa.
They also, that seeke after my life, laye snares, and they that go about to do me euil, talke wicked things and imagine deceite continually.
13 Ka ko au, hangē ko ha tuli, ʻoku ʻikai te u ongoʻi; pea naʻaku hangē ko e tangata ʻoku noa ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai mafaʻa hono ngutu.
But I as a deafe man heard not, and am as a dumme man, which openeth not his mouth.
14 Pea naʻaku hangē ko e tangata taʻeongoʻi, pea ʻoku ʻikai ha valoki ʻi hono ngutu.
Thus am I as a man, that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofes.
15 He ʻoku ou ʻamanaki lelei, ʻE Sihova, kiate koe: te ke ongoʻi, ʻE ʻEiki ko hoku ʻOtua.
For on thee, O Lord, do I waite: thou wilt heare me, my Lord, my God.
16 He naʻaku pehē, “Fanongo kiate au, telia naʻa nau fiefia kiate au: ʻi he hekea ʻa hoku vaʻe, ʻoku nau hiki hake ʻakinautolu kiate au.”
For I said, Heare me, least they reioyce ouer me: for when my foote slippeth, they extol themselues against me.
17 He ʻoku ou meimei nofo, pea ʻoku tuʻumaʻu pe ʻeku mamahi ʻi hoku ʻao.
Surely I am ready to halte, and my sorow is euer before me.
18 He te u fakahā ʻeku hia; pea u mamahi koeʻuhi ko ʻeku angahala.
When I declare my paine, and am sory for my sinne,
19 Ka ʻoku moʻui hoku ngaahi fili, pea ʻoku nau mālohi: pea ʻoku fakaʻaʻau ʻo tokolahi ʻakinautolu ʻoku fehiʻa taʻetotonu kiate au.
Then mine enemies are aliue and are mightie, and they that hate me wrongfully are many.
20 Pea ko hoku ngaahi fili foki ʻakinautolu ʻoku totongi kovi ki he lelei; koeʻuhi ʻoku ou muimui ki he lelei.
They also, that rewarde euill for good, are mine aduersaries, because I follow goodnesse.
21 ʻOua naʻa ke liʻaki au, ʻE Sihova: ʻE hoku ʻOtua, ʻoua naʻa ke mamaʻo ʻiate au.
Forsake me not, O Lord: be not thou farre from me, my God.
22 Ke ke fakatoʻotoʻo ke tokoni au, ʻE ʻEiki ko hoku fakamoʻui.
Haste thee to helpe mee, O my Lord, my saluation.
