< Saame 36 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita ko e tamaioʻeiki ʻa Sihova. ʻOku lea ʻae talangataʻa ʻae angakovi ki hoku loto, “ʻoku ʻikai ha manavahē ki he ʻOtua ʻi hono ʻao.”
“To the chief musician, by the servant of the Lord, by David.” Saith vice itself to the wicked—so I feel it within my heart— that he should have no dread of God before his eyes.
2 He ʻoku ne fakaholoholoʻi ʻe ia ia ʻi hono ʻao, ke ʻoua ke hoko ʻo hā mai ʻae kovi ʻo ʻene hia.
For he flattereth himself in his own eyes [too much] to find out his iniquity to hate it.
3 Ko e ngaahi lea ʻa hono ngutu ko e kovi mo e kākā: kuo tuku ʻe ia ʻene poto mo e fai lelei.
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, to do good.
4 ʻOku ne fifili ki he pauʻu ʻi hono mohenga; ʻoku ne fokotuʻu ʻe ia ia ʻi he hala ʻoku ʻikai lelei; ʻoku ʻikai te ne fehiʻa ki he kovi.
He deviseth wickedness upon his couch; he placeth himself on a way that is not good; evil he despiseth not.
5 Ko hoʻo ʻaloʻofa, ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi langi; pea ʻoku aʻu hake hoʻo angatonu ki he ngaahi ʻao.
O Lord, into the heavens reacheth thy kindness, thy faithfulness even into the skies.
6 Ko hoʻo māʻoniʻoni ʻoku hangē ko e ngaahi moʻunga ʻoe ʻOtua; ko hoʻo ngaahi fakamaau ko e fuʻu moana; ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ke fakamoʻui ʻae tangata mo e manu.
Thy righteousness is like the mountains of God; thy acts of justice like the great deep: man and beast dost thou ever help, O Lord.
7 ʻE ʻOtua, hono ʻikai mahuʻinga fau ʻa hoʻo ʻaloʻofa! Ko ia ʻoku falala ai ʻae fānau ʻae tangata ki he malu ʻo ho kapakau.
How precious is thy kindness, O God! And the children of men that seek shelter under the shadow of thy wings, —
8 Te nau fonu lahi ʻi he mahu lelei ʻo ho fale; pea te ke fakainu ʻakinautolu ʻi he vaitafe ʻo hoʻo fiemālie.
These will be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and of the stream of thy delights wilt thou give them to drink.
9 He ʻoku ʻiate koe ʻae matavai ʻoe moʻui: temau mamata ʻi hoʻo maama ki he maama.
For with thee is the source of life: in thy light shall we see light.
10 Ke tuʻumaʻu pe hoʻo ʻaloʻofa kiate kinautolu ʻoku nau ʻilo koe; mo hoʻo māʻoniʻoni ki he angatonu ʻi loto.
Draw down continuously thy kindness unto those that acknowledge thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 ʻOua naʻa hoko kiate au ʻae vaʻe ʻoe laukau, pea ʻoua naʻa hiki au ʻe he nima ʻoe angakovi.
Let not come against me the foot of pride, and let not the hand of the wicked chase me off.
12 Kuo hinga ʻi ai ʻae kau fai kovi: kuo lī ki lalo ʻakinautolu, pea ʻe ʻikai te nau faʻa tuʻu hake.
There are fallen the workers of wickedness: they are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
