< Saame 31 >
1 Ki he Takimuʻa, ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. ʻOku ou falala kiate koe, ʻE Sihova; ʻoua naʻa ke tuku au ke u mā: fakamoʻui au ʻi hoʻo māʻoniʻoni.
A psalm of David. For the music director. Lord, you are the one who keeps me safe; please don't let me ever be humiliated. Save me, because you always do what is right.
2 Fakatokangaʻi ho telinga kiate au; ke vave hoʻo fakamoʻui au: ke ke ʻiate au ko e maka mālohi, ko e fale hūfanga ke fakamoʻui au.
Please listen to me, and be quick to rescue me. Be my rock of protection, my strong fortress of safety.
3 He ko koe ko hoku makatuʻu mo ʻeku kolo: ko ia, ko e meʻa ʻi ho huafa ke ke tataki au, ʻo fakahinohino au.
You are my rock and my fortress. For the sake of your reputation, please lead me and guide me.
4 Toho au mei he kupenga kuo nau ʻaʻau fakafufū kiate au: he ko koe ko hoku mālohi.
Help me escape from the hidden net that they set to trap me, for you are the one who protects me.
5 ʻOku ou tuku atu hoku laumālie ki ho nima: kuo ke huhuʻi au, ʻE Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe moʻoni.
I put myself in your hands. Save me, Lord, for you are a trustworthy God.
6 Naʻaku fehiʻa kiate kinautolu ʻoku tokanga ki he ngaahi meʻa vaʻinga loi pē: ka ʻoku ou falala kia Sihova.
I hate those who devote themselves to pointless idols; I trust in the Lord.
7 Te u fiefia mo nekeneka ʻi hoʻo ʻaloʻofa: he kuo ke tokanga ki heʻeku mamahi; kuo ke ʻiloʻi hoku laumālie ʻi he ngaahi mamahi;
I will celebrate, happy in your love that never fails, for you have seen the problems I face and have paid attention to my troubles.
8 Pea naʻe ʻikai te ke tāpuni au ʻi he nima ʻoe fili: kuo ke fokotuʻu hoku vaʻe ʻi he potu ʻataʻatā lahi.
You haven't handed me over to my enemies; you have set me free.
9 ʻAloʻofa mai kiate au, ʻE Sihova, he ʻoku ou moʻua ʻi he mamahi: kuo ʻauha hoku mata ʻi he tangi, ʻio, ko hoku laumālie mo hoku kete.
Be kind to me Lord, for I am upset. I can hardly see from so much crying. I am completely wasting away.
10 He kuo ʻosi ʻeku moʻui ʻi he tangi, mo hoku ngaahi taʻu ʻi he mafulu: kuo fakaʻaʻau ke ʻosi hoku mālohi ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku hia, pea kuo ʻauha hoku ngaahi hui.
Grief is killing me; my life is cut short by sadness; I am falling apart because of my troubles; I am worn to the bone.
11 Ko e manukiʻanga au ʻo hoku ngaahi fili kotoa pē, kae ʻāsili pe ki hoku ngaahi kaungāʻapi, pea ko e ilifiaʻanga ʻo hoku kaumeʻa: ko kinautolu naʻe mamata kiate au ʻi tuaʻā naʻa nau hola ʻiate au.
I am ridiculed by my enemies, particularly by my neighbors. My friends dread meeting me; people who see me in the street run the other way.
12 Kuo fakangalongaloʻi au mei he loto ʻo hangē ko e tangata kuo mate: kuo u tatau mo e ipu kuo maumau.
I have been forgotten as if I were dead; I'm ignored like a broken pot.
13 He naʻaku fanongo ki he lauʻikovi ʻe he tokolahi: naʻe ʻi he potu kotoa pē ʻae manavahē: lolotonga ʻenau fakakaukau fakataha kiate au, naʻa nau loto ke toʻo ʻeku moʻui.
I hear many people whispering about me; terror surrounds me. They plot together against me, planning to kill me.
14 Ka naʻaku falala kiate koe, ʻE Sihova: naʻaku pehē, Ko koe ko hoku ʻOtua.
But I put my trust in you, Lord, saying, “You are my God!”
15 Ko hoku ngaahi kuonga ʻoku ʻi ho nima: ke ke fakahaofi au mei he nima ʻo hoku ngaahi fili, pea mo kinautolu ʻoku fakatangaʻi au.
My whole life is in your hands! Save me from those who hate me and persecute me!
16 Tuku ke ulo mai ho fofonga ki hoʻo tamaioʻeiki: fakamoʻui au koeʻuhi ko hoʻo ʻaloʻofa.
May you look kindly on me, your servant. Save me because of your trustworthy love.
17 ʻOua naʻa ke tuku au ke u mā, ʻe Sihova; he naʻaku ui kiate koe: tuku ke mā ʻae kau angahala, tuku ke nau longo pē ʻi he faʻitoka. (Sheol )
Lord, don't let me be disgraced, for I'm calling out to you. Instead let the wicked be disgraced, let them be silent in the grave. (Sheol )
18 Tuku ke fakalongo pē ʻae ngaahi loungutu loi; ʻaia ʻoku lea ʻaki ʻae meʻa fakamamahi ki he kau māʻoniʻoni ʻi he fielahi mo e manuki.
Shut the mouths of those who tell lies against good people—those who speak contemptuously in their pride and arrogance!
19 ʻOku fēfē hono lahi ʻo hoʻo angalelei, ʻaia kuo ke hilifaki maʻanautolu ʻoku manavahē kiate koe; ʻaia kuo ke ngaohi maʻanautolu ʻoku falala kiate koe ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ngaahi foha ʻoe tangata!
How wonderful is the goodness you have reserved for those who honor you! In front of everyone you give this goodness to those who come to you for help.
20 Te ke fufū ʻakinautolu ʻi he potu lilo ʻo ho fofonga mei he fielahi ʻae tangata: te ke tauhi fakafufū pe ʻakinautolu ʻi ha ʻafioʻanga mei he fakakikihi ʻoe ngaahi ʻelelo.
You shelter and protect them with your presence, far from their enemies who scheme against them. You keep them safe from attacks and accusations.
21 Fakafetaʻi kia Sihova: he kuo ne fakahā kiate au ʻene angalelei fakaofo ʻi he kolo mālohi.
Bless the Lord, for he has shown me his wonderful trustworthy love when my city was being attacked
22 He naʻaku pehē ʻi heʻeku toʻotoʻo, “kuo motuhi au mei he ʻao ʻo ho fofonga:” ka naʻa ke ongoʻi ʻae leʻo ʻo ʻeku ngaahi lotu tāumaʻu ʻi heʻeku tangi kiate koe.
Terrified I cried out, “I am being destroyed right in front of you!” But you heard my cry when I called out for you to help me.
23 Mou ʻofa kia Sihova, ʻakimoutolu ko ʻene kakai māʻoniʻoni kotoa pē: he ʻoku tauhi ʻe Sihova ʻae kau angatonu, pea ʻoku ne totongi lahi ki he kau fai fakafielahi.
Love the Lord, all you who trust in him! The Lord takes care of those who trust him, but he pays back in full those who are arrogant.
24 Ke mou lototoʻa, pea te ne fakamālohi homou loto, ʻakimoutolu kotoa pē ʻoku ʻamanaki lelei kia Sihova.
Be strong and be confident, all you who put your hope in the Lord.
