< Saame 3 >
1 Ko e Saame ʻa Tevita, ʻi heʻene hola meia ʻApisalomi ko hono foha. ʻE Sihova, kuo tupu ʻo tokolahi ʻakinautolu ʻoku fakamamahiʻi au! ʻOku tokolahi ʻakinautolu ʻaia ʻoku tuʻu hake ʻo angatuʻu kiate au.
Yahweh, I have many enemies [DOU]! There are many people who oppose/rebel against me.
2 ʻOku tokolahi ʻakinautolu ʻaia ʻoku pehē ki hoku laumālie, “ʻOku ʻikai ha tokoni kiate ia ʻi he ʻOtua.” (Sila)
Many people are saying about me, “God will [certainly] not help him!”
3 Ka ko koe, ʻE Sihova, ko e fakaū kiate au; ko hoku nāunau, mo e hiki hake ʻa hoku ʻulu.
But Yahweh, you are like a shield [that protects me] [MET]. You greatly honor me, and you encourage me (OR, enable me to triumph over my enemies) [IDM].
4 Naʻaku tangi kia Sihova ʻaki hoku leʻo, pea naʻa ne ongoʻi au mei hono moʻunga māʻoniʻoni. (Sila)
I cry out to you, Yahweh, and you answer me from [Zion], your sacred hill.
5 Ne u tokoto hifo ʻo mohe; pea u ʻā hake; he ko Sihova naʻa ne tokoniʻi au.
[At night] I lie down and sleep, and I awake [in the morning feeling good/refreshed] because you, Yahweh, (take care of/protect) me [all during the night].
6 ʻE ʻikai te u manavahē ʻi he ngaahi toko mano ʻoe kakai, ʻaia ʻoku angatuʻu ʻo kāpui au.
There may be thousands of [enemy] soldiers who surround me, but I am not afraid.
7 Tuʻu hake, ʻE Sihova; fakamoʻui au, ʻE hoku ʻOtua: he kuo ke taaʻi hoku ngaahi fili kotoa pē ʻi honau hui kouʻahe kuo ke fesiʻi ʻae kau nifo ʻoe angakovi.
Yahweh, arise! My God, [come and] rescue me [again]! You [insult] my enemies by slapping them on their cheeks; [when you strike them], you break their teeth, [with the result that they cannot hurt anyone] [MET].
8 ʻOku ʻia Sihova ʻae fakamoʻui: ko hoʻo tāpuaki ʻoku ʻi hoʻo kakai. (Sila)
Yahweh, you are the one who saves your people [from their enemies]. Yahweh, bless your people!
