Saame 27

1 Ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. Ko ʻeku maama mo hoku fakamoʻui ʻa Sihova; te u manavahē kia hai? Ko e mālohi ʻo ʻeku moʻui ʻa Sihova; pea te u manavahē kia hai?

A Psalm of David, before he was sealed. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?

2 ‌ʻI he haʻu kiate au ʻae kau angahala, ko hoku ngaahi fili mo e kau fakamamahi kiate au, ke kai ʻo ʻosi hoku kakano, naʻa nau tūkia ʻo hinga.

Meanwhile, the guilty draw near to me, so as to eat my flesh. Those who trouble me, my enemies, have themselves been weakened and have fallen.

3 Kapau ʻe fakataha ʻae kautau ke tauʻi au, ʻe ʻikai manavahē hoku loto; neongo ʻae tuʻu mai ʻae tau kiate au, te u falala pe ʻi he meʻa ni.

If entrenched armies were to stand together against me, my heart would not fear. If a battle were to rise up against me, I would have hope in this.

4 Ko e meʻa ʻe taha kuo u kole kia Sihova, ʻaia te u kumi ki ai; koeʻuhi ke u nofomaʻu ʻi he fale ʻo Sihova ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē ʻo ʻeku moʻui, ke mamata ki he lelei ʻo Sihova, mo fehuʻi ʻi hono faletapu.

One thing I have asked of the Lord, this I will seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, so that I may behold the delight of the Lord, and may visit his temple.

5 He te ne fufū au ʻi he ʻaho ʻoe mamahi ʻi hono ʻafioʻanga: te ne fufū au ʻi he potu lilo ʻo hono fale fehikitaki; te ne fokotuʻu au ki he funga maka.

For he has hidden me in his tabernacle. In the day of evils, he has protected me in the hidden place of his tabernacle.

6 Pea ko eni, ʻe hiki ke māʻolunga hake hoku ʻulu ki hoku ngaahi fili ʻoku takatakai au: ko ia te u ʻohake ʻi hono fale fehikitaki ʻae ngaahi feilaulau ʻae fiefia; te u hiva, ʻio, te u hiva ʻaki ʻae fakafetaʻi kia Sihova.

He has exalted me upon the rock, and now he has exalted my head above my enemies. I have circled around and offered a sacrifice of loud exclamation in his tabernacle. I will sing, and I will compose a psalm, to the Lord.

7 Ke ke ongoʻi, ʻE Sihova, ʻo kau ka tangi ʻaki hoku leʻo: ke ke ʻaloʻofa mai foki kiate au, ʻo talia au.

Hear my voice, O Lord, with which I have cried out to you. Have mercy on me, and hear me.

8 [ʻI hoʻo folofola pehē], “Mou kumi ki hoku fofonga; naʻe pehē leva ʻe hoku loto kiate koe, Ko ho fofonga, ʻE Sihova, te u kumi.”

My heart has spoken to you; my face has sought you. I yearn for your face, O Lord.

9 ‌ʻOua naʻa ke fufū ho fofonga ʻiate au; ʻoua naʻa ke tukuange hoʻo tamaioʻeiki ʻi ho houhau: naʻa ke tokoni au; ʻoua naʻa ke tuku au, pe siʻaki au, ʻE ʻOtua ʻo ʻeku moʻui.

Do not turn your face away from me. In your wrath, do not turn aside from your servant. Be my helper. Do not abandon me, and do not despise me, O God, my Savior.

10 ‌ʻOka liʻaki au ʻe heʻeku tamai mo ʻeku faʻē, ʻe toʻo hake au ʻe Sihova.

For my father and my mother have left me behind, but the Lord has taken me up.

11 ‌ʻAko kiate au ho hala, ʻE Sihova, mo tataki au ʻi he hala ʻilongofua, koeʻuhi ko hoku ngaahi fili.

O Lord, establish a law for me in your way, and direct me in the right path, because of my enemies.

12 ‌ʻOua naʻa ke tukuange au ki he loto ʻo hoku ngaahi fili: he kuo tuʻu hake ʻo angatuʻu kiate au ʻae kau fakamoʻoni loi, mo ia ʻoku mānava ʻaki ʻae fai kovi.

Do not surrender me to the souls of those who trouble me. For unjust witnesses have risen up against me, and iniquity has lied to itself.

13 Ka ne ʻikai te u tui ke u mamata ki he finangalo ʻofa ʻo Sihova ʻi he fonua ʻoe moʻui, pehē kuo u ilifia.

I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.

14 ‌ʻAmanaki lelei kia Sihova: pea ke lototoʻa, pea te ne fakamālohi ho loto: ʻoku ou pehē, ʻamanaki lelei kia Sihova.

Wait for the Lord, act manfully; and let your heart be strengthened, and remain with the Lord.
