< Saame 143 >
1 Ko e Saame ʻa Tevita. ʻE Sihova, fanongo ki heʻeku lotu, fakafanongo ki heʻeku ngaahi lotu tāumaʻu: pea ʻi hoʻo moʻoni mo hoʻo māʻoniʻoni, ke ke talia au.
A Melody of David. O Yahweh, hear my prayer, Give ear to my supplications, In thy faithfulness, answer me, in thy righteousness.
2 Pea ʻoua naʻa ke fakamaauʻi hoʻo tamaioʻeiki: koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai tonuhia ʻi ho ʻao ha tangata moʻui ʻe tokotaha.
Do not then enter into judgment with thy servant, for no one living, can appear just before thee.
3 He kuo fakatanga hoku laumālie ʻe he fili; kuo ne taaʻi hifo ʻeku moʻui ki he kelekele; kuo ne pule ke u nofo ʻi he poʻuli, ʻo hangē ko kinautolu kuo fuoloa ʻenau mate.
For an enemy hath pursued my soul, hath crushed, to the earth, my life, hath made me dwell in dark places, like the ancient dead.
4 Ko ia kuo taʻomia ai ʻa hoku laumālie; kuo lala hoku loto ʻiate au.
Therefore hath my spirit, fainted concerning myself, Within me, hath, my heart, been confounded.
5 ʻOku ou manatu ki he ngaahi ʻaho ʻi muʻa; ʻoku ou fakalaulauloto ki hoʻo ngāue kotoa pē; ʻoku ou fifili ki he ngāue ʻa ho nima.
I have remembered the days of aforetime, I have talked with myself of every deed of thine, Of the work of thy hands, I would speak:
6 ʻOku ou mafao atu hoku nima kiate koe: ʻoku holi ʻa hoku laumālie kiate koe, ʻo hangē ko e fonua fieinua. (Sila)
I have spread out my hands unto thee, My soul, is as a thirsty land, for thee. (Selah)
7 ʻE Sihova, ʻafio vave kiate au: kuo vaivai ʻa hoku laumālie: ʻoua naʻa fufū ho fofonga ʻiate au, telia naʻaku tatau mo kinautolu ʻoku nau ʻalu hifo ki he luo.
Speedily answer me, O Yahweh, My spirit faileth, —Do not hide thy face from me, or I shall be made like unto them who go down into the pit.
8 Ke ke fakatokangaʻi au ke u fanongo ki hoʻo ʻaloʻofa ʻi he pongipongi; he ʻoku ou falala kiate koe: fakaʻilo mai kiate au ʻae hala ʻaia ʻoku totonu ke u ʻalu ai; he ʻoku ou hiki hake hoku laumālie kiate koe.
Let me hear, in the morning, thy lovingkindness, for, in thee, have, I trusted, —Let me know the way in which I should walk, for, unto thee, have I uplifted my soul.
9 Fakamoʻui au, ʻE Sihova, mei hoku ngaahi fili: ʻoku ou hola kiate koe ke fakafufū au,
Rescue me from my foes, O Yahweh, Unto thee, have I come seeking refuge.
10 Akonakiʻi au ke u fai ki ho finangalo; he ko koe ko hoku ʻOtua; tuku ke tataki au ʻe ho Laumālie lelei, ki he fonua ʻoe angatonu.
Teach me to do thy good pleasure, for, thou, art my God, —Thy spirit, is good, thou wilt set me down to rest in a level land.
11 ʻE Sihova, fakamoʻui au koeʻuhi ko ho huafa: koeʻuhi ko hoʻo māʻoniʻoni ke ke ʻomi hoku laumālie mei he mamahi.
For the sake of thy Name, O Yahweh, wilt thou give unto me life, In thy righteousness, wilt thou bring forth, out of distress, my soul;
12 Pea ʻi hoʻo ʻaloʻofa ke ke motuhi hoku ngaahi fili, mo fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻoku nau fakamamahi ki hoku laumālie: he ko hoʻo tamaioʻeiki au.
And, in thy lovingkindness, wilt thou exterminate my foes, —and destroy all the adversaries of my soul, because, I, am thy servant.
