1 Ko e Hiva ʻae ʻalu hake. ʻE Sihova, ke ke manatu kia Tevita, mo ʻene mamahi kotoa pē:
O Lord, remember David, and all his meekness.
2 ʻA ʻene fuakava kia Sihova, mo ʻene lea fakapapau ki he ʻOtua mālohi ʻa Sēkope;
How he swore to the Lord, he vowed a vow to the God of Jacob:
3 “Ko e moʻoni ʻe ʻikai te u ʻalu ki hoku fale nofoʻanga, pe ʻalu hake ki hoku mohenga;
If I shall enter into the tabernacle of my house: if I shall go up into the bed wherein I lie:
4 ʻE ʻikai te u tuku ʻae mohe ki hoku mata, pe ko e tulemohe ki hoku laumata,
If I shall give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,
5 Kaeʻoua ke u ʻilo ha potu moʻo Sihova, ko e ʻafioʻanga ki he ʻOtua mālohi ʻo Sēkope.”
Or rest to my temples: until I find out a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
6 Vakai, naʻa tau fanongo ki ai ʻi ʻEfalata: pea naʻa tau ʻilo ia ʻi he ngaahi ngoue ʻoe vao.
Behold we have heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the wood.
7 “Te tau hū ki hono ngaahi fale fehikitaki: te tau lotu ʻi hono tuʻunga vaʻe.”
We will go into his tabernacle: We will adore in the place where his feet stood.
8 Tuʻu hake, ʻE Sihova, ki ho mālōlōʻanga; ʻa koe, mo e puha ʻoe fuakava ʻo ho mālohi.
Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place: thou and the ark, which thou hast sanctified.
9 Ke kofuʻaki ʻe hoʻo kau taulaʻeiki ʻae angatonu; pea ke kalanga ʻi he fiefia ʻa hoʻo kakai māʻoniʻoni.
Let thy priests be clothed with justice: and let thy saints rejoice.
10 Koeʻuhi ko hoʻo tamaioʻeiki ko Tevita, ʻoua naʻa ke fakatafoki ʻae mata ʻo hoʻo pani.
For thy servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of thy anointed.
11 Kuo fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻi he moʻoni kia Tevita; ʻe ʻikai te ne liliu mei ai; “Te u fokotuʻu ki ho nofoʻa ʻae fua ʻo ho sino.
The Lord hath sworn truth to David, and he will not make it void: of the fruit of thy womb I will set upon thy throne.
12 Kapau ʻe fai ʻe hoʻo fānau ki heʻeku fuakava mo ʻeku fakamoʻoni ʻaia te u ako kiate kinautolu, ʻe nofo foki ʻenau fānau ʻi ho nofoʻa fakaʻeiʻeiki ʻo lauikuonga.”
If thy children will keep thy covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them: Their children also for evermore shall sit upon thy throne.
13 He kuo fili ʻe Sihova ʻa Saione; kuo ne finangalo ki ai ko hono ʻafioʻanga.
For the Lord hath chosen Sion: he hath chosen it for his dwelling.
14 “Ko hoku mālōlōʻanga eni ʻo taʻengata: te u nofo ʻi heni; he naʻaku finangalo ki ai.
This is my rest for ever and ever: here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.
15 Ko e moʻoni te u tāpuaki lahi hono meʻakai: te u fakamākona ʻa hono kau masiva ʻaki ʻae mā.
Blessing, I will bless her widow: I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 Te u fakakofu foki ʻene kau taulaʻeiki ʻaki ʻae fakamoʻui: pea ko ʻene kau māʻoniʻoni tenau kalanga ʻo leʻo lahi ʻi he fiefia.
I will clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall rejoice with exceeding great joy.
17 Te u ngaohi ke moto ai ʻae nifo ʻo Tevita: kuo u tuʻutuʻuni ʻae maama ʻa ʻeku pani.
There will I bring forth a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.
18 Te u fakakofuʻaki hono ngaahi fili ʻae mā: ka ʻe maʻuiʻui ʻa hono tatā ʻiate ia.”
His enemies I will clothe with confusion: but upon him will my sanctification flourish.
