1 Ko e Hiva ʻae ʻalu hake. ‌ʻE Sihova, naʻaku tangi kiate koe mei he ngaahi moana.
Yahweh, I have a lot of troubles/many difficulties, so I call out to you.
2 ‌ʻE ʻEiki, ke ke ongoʻi hoku leʻo: fakatokangaʻi ho fofonga ki he leʻo ʻo ʻeku ngaahi lotu tāumaʻu.
Yahweh, hear me, while I call out to you [SYN] to be merciful to me!
3 Kapau te ke fakaʻilonga, ʻE Sihova, ʻae ngaahi hia, ʻE ʻEiki, ko hai ʻe faʻa tuʻu?
Yahweh, if you kept a record of the sins [that we have committed], not one [of us] [RHQ] would escape from being condemned [and punished]
4 Ka ʻoku ʻiate koe ʻae fakamolemole, koeʻuhi ke manavahē ai kiate koe.
But you forgive us, with the result that we greatly revere you.
5 ‌ʻOku ou tatali kia Sihova, ʻoku tatali ʻa hoku laumālie, pea ʻoku ou ʻamanaki lelei ki heʻene folofola.
Yahweh has said [that he would help/rescue me]; I trust what he said, and I wait eagerly for him to do that.
6 ‌ʻOku tatali ʻa hoku laumālie kia Sihova ʻo lahi hake ʻiate kinautolu ʻoku nau leʻo ki he pongipongi: ʻoku ou pehē, ʻo lahi hake ʻiate kinautolu ʻoku nau leʻo ki he pongipongi.
I wait for Yahweh [to help me] more than watchmen wait for the light to dawn; yes, I wait more eagerly than they do!
7 Ke ʻamanaki ʻa ʻIsileli kia Sihova: he ʻoku ʻia Sihova ʻae ʻaloʻofa, pea ʻoku ʻiate ia ʻae huhuʻi lahi.
You [my fellow] Israelis, confidently expect that Yahweh [will bless us]. [He will bless us] because he faithfully loves [us], and he is very willing to save/rescue [us].
8 Pea te ne huhuʻi ʻa ʻIsileli mei heʻene ngaahi hia kotoa pē.
And he will save us Israeli [people] from [being punished for] all the sins that [we] have committed.
