< Saame 115 >
Yahweh, people should praise [only] you [MTY]; they must praise you, not us, because you faithfully love us and always do what you have promised to do.
2 Ko e hā ʻe pehē ai ʻe he hiteni, “Ko e fē honau ʻOtua?”
It is not right that [RHQ] [other] people-groups should say about us, “[They claim that] their God [is very powerful], but [if that is true], why does he not [help them]?”
3 Ka ko hotau ʻOtua ʻoku ʻi he ngaahi langi: kuo ne fai ʻaia kuo ne finangalo ki ai.
Our God is in heaven, and he does whatever he wants to!
4 Ko honau ngaahi tamapua ko e siliva mo e koula, ko e ngāue ʻae nima ʻoe tangata.
[But] their idols are only [statues made of] silver and gold, things that humans have made.
5 ʻOku ai honau ngutu, ka ʻoku ʻikai tenau lea: ʻoku nau maʻu ʻae mata, ka ʻoku ʻikai tenau mamata:
Their idols have mouths, but they cannot say [anything]; they have eyes, but they cannot see [anything].
6 ʻOku nau telinga, ka ʻoku ʻikai tenau ongoʻi: ʻoku ai honau ihu, ka ʻoku ʻikai tenau nanamu:
They have ears, but they cannot hear [anything]; they have noses, but they cannot smell [anything].
7 ʻOku nau maʻu ʻae nima, ka ʻoku ʻikai tenau ala ki ha meʻa: ʻoku ai honau vaʻe, ka ʻoku ʻikai tenau ʻaʻeva: pea ʻoku ʻikai tenau lea ʻaki honau kia.
They have hands, but they cannot feel [anything]; they have feet, but they cannot walk, and they have throats but cannot [even] make any sounds!
8 Ko kinautolu ʻoku ngaohi ʻakinautolu ʻoku nau tatau mo kinautolu: pea ʻoku pehē pe ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku falala ki ai.
The people who make those idols are [as powerless] as those idols, and those who trust in those idols [can accomplish nothing], just like their idols!
9 ʻE ʻIsileli, ke ke falala kia Sihova ko honau tokoni ia mo honau fakaū.
You, [my fellow] Israeli people, trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
10 ʻE fale ʻo ʻElone, ke ke falala kia Sihova: ko honau tokoni ia mo honau fakaū.
You priests [MTY], trust in Yahweh! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
11 ʻAkimoutolu ʻoku manavahē kia Sihova, mou falala kia Sihova: ko honau tokoni ia mo honau fakaū.
[All] you who revere Yahweh, trust in him! He is the one who helps you and [protects you like] [MET] a shield.
12 Kuo manatuʻi ʻe Sihova ʻakitautolu: te ne tāpuaki ʻakitautolu; te ne tāpuaki ʻae fale ʻo ʻIsileli; te ne tāpuaki ʻae fale ʻo ʻElone.
Yahweh has not forgotten us; he will bless us Israeli people [MTY]! He will bless the priests,
13 Te ne tāpuaki ʻakinautolu ʻoku nau manavahē kia Sihova, ʻae iiki mo e lalahi.
and he will bless [all] those who revere him; he will bless important [people] and people [who are considered to be] unimportant, [everyone!]
14 ʻE fakatokolahi ʻakimoutolu ʻe Sihova, pea te mou tupu pe, ʻakimoutolu mo hoʻomou fānau.
I desire that Yahweh will give many children to you [my fellow-Israeli people], and to your descendants.
15 ʻOku mou monūʻia ʻia Sihova, ʻaia naʻa ne ngaohi ʻae langi mo māmani.
I desire that Yahweh, the one who made heaven and the earth, will bless [all of] you!
16 ʻOku ʻo Sihova ʻae langi, ʻio, ko e ngaahi langi: pea kuo ne foaki ʻa māmani ki he fānau ʻae tangata.
The [highest] heavens belong to Yahweh, but he gave [everything that is on] the earth to [us] people.
17 ʻOku ʻikai fakamālō kia Sihova ʻae mate, pe ha taha ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he fakalongo pē.
Dead [people] are not [able to] praise Yahweh; when they descend into the place where dead people are, they are unable to speak and cannot praise him.
18 Ka te tau fakafetaʻi kia Sihova mei he ʻaho ni ʻo taʻengata. Mou fakamālō kia Sihova.
But we [who are alive] will thank/praise him, now and forever. Praise Yahweh!
