< Saame 107 >
1 “Mou ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, he ʻoku angalelei ia: koeʻuhi ʻoku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.”
Give thanks to the Lord for his goodness for his kindness endures forever.
2 Ke lea pehē ʻe he kakai kuo huhuʻi ʻe Sihova, ʻakinautolu kuo ne huhuʻi mei he nima ʻoe fili;
Let this be the song of the ransomed, whom the Lord has redeemed from distress,
3 Pea tānaki ʻakinautolu mei he ngaahi fonua, mei he potu hahake, pea mei he potu lulunga, mei he potu tokelau, pea mei he feituʻu tonga.
gathering them from all lands, east, west, north, and south.
4 Naʻa nau ʻalu fano pē ʻi he toafa ʻi he hala liʻaki; naʻe ʻikai tenau ʻilo ha kolo ke nofo ai.
In the wastes of the desert some wandered, finding no way to a city inhabited.
5 Pea ʻi he fiekaia mo e fieinua, naʻe pongia ai honau laumālie ʻiate kinautolu.
Full of hunger and thirst, their spirit failed.
6 Pea naʻa nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ne ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distresses,
7 Pea naʻa ne tataki atu ʻakinautolu ʻi he hala totonu, koeʻuhi kenau hoko ki he kolo naʻe kakai.
guiding them straight on the way, till they reached an inhabited city.
8 Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
Let them thank the Lord for his kindness, for his wonderful deeds for people;
9 He ʻoku ne fakamākona ʻae laumālie ʻoku holi, mo ne fakapito ʻaki ʻae lelei ʻae laumālie ʻoku fiekaia.
for the thirsty he satisfies, and the hungry he fills with good things.
10 Ko kinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he fakapoʻuli pea mo e ʻata ʻae mate, kuo haʻi ʻaki ʻae mamahi mo e ukamea;
Some sat in darkness and gloom prisoners in irons and misery,
11 Koeʻuhi naʻa nau angatuʻu ki he ngaahi folofola ʻae ʻOtua, mo nau fehiʻa ki he akonaki ʻae fungani Māʻolunga:
for rebelling against God’s word, and spurning the Most High’s counsel.
12 Ko ia naʻa ne fakavaivaiʻi honau loto ʻi he ngāue; naʻa nau tō ki lalo, pea naʻe ʻikai ha taha ke tokoni.
Their heart was bowed with toil; there was no one to help when they stumbled.
13 Pea naʻa nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distresses.
14 Naʻa ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu mei he fakapoʻuli mo e ʻata ʻoe mate, ʻo ne motuhi honau ngaahi haʻi.
Out of darkness and gloom he brought them, and burst their chains.
15 Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
Let them praise the Lord for his kindness, for his wonderful deeds for people.
16 He kuo ne maumauʻi ʻae ngaahi matapā palasa, pea ne tutuʻu ʻae ngaahi ukamea fakamaʻu.
For he shattered the gates of bronze, and broke bars of iron.
17 ʻOku mamahi ʻae kau vale koeʻuhi ko ʻenau talangataʻa, pea mo ʻenau ngaahi hia.
Some were sick from their wicked ways, and suffering because of their sins.
18 ʻOku fehiʻa honau laumālie ki he meʻakai kotoa pē; pea ʻoku nau fakaʻaʻau ki he ngaahi matapā ʻoe mate.
All manner of food they hated; they had come to the gates of death.
19 Pea ʻoku nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ʻoku ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distresses.
20 Naʻa ne fekau ʻene folofola, pea ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu, mo ne fakahaofi ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi meʻa fakaʻauha.
He sent his word and healed them, and delivered their life from the pit.
21 Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
Let them praise the Lord for his kindness, for his wonderful deeds for people.
22 Pea tuku kenau feilaulau ʻaki ʻae ngaahi feilaulau ʻoe fakafetaʻi, mo fakahā ʻene ngaahi ngāue ʻi he fiefia.
Let them offer to him thankofferings, and with joy tell what things he has done.
23 Ko kinautolu ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he tahi ʻi he ngaahi vaka, mo fai ʻae ngāue ʻi he ngaahi vai lahi;
Some crossed the sea in ships, doing business in great waters.
24 ʻOku nau mamata ki he ngaahi ngāue ʻa Sihova, mo ʻene ngaahi meʻa fakaofo ʻi he moana.
They have seen what the Lord can do, and his wonderful deeds on the deep.
25 He ʻoku fekau ʻe ia, pea ʻoku fakatupu ʻae matangi mālohi, ʻaia ʻoku tupu hake ai hono ngaahi peau.
At his command rose a tempest, which lifted the waves on high.
26 ʻOku nau ʻalu hake ki he langi, ʻoku nau toe ʻalu hifo ki he ngaahi loloto: kuo vela ʻo vai honau laumālie koeʻuhi ko e mamahi.
Up to heaven they went, down to the depths; their courage failed them.
27 ʻOku nau tasipa, pea luelue ʻo hangē ko e tangata konā, pea kuo mole honau poto kotoa pē.
They staggered and reeled like drunkards; all their skills useless.
28 ʻOku nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ʻoku ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distresses.
29 ʻOku ne ngaohi ʻae afā ke tofukī, ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ngaue ai hono peau.
He stilled the storm to a whisper, and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 Pea ʻoku nau toki fiefia koeʻuhi ʻoku nau fiemālie ai; pea ʻoku ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu ki he taulanga kuo nau holi ki ai.
They were glad, because it was quiet; they were led to the haven they longed for.
31 Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
Let them praise the Lord, for his kindness, for his wonderful deeds for people.
32 Tuku kenau fakahikihiki ʻa ʻene ʻafio ʻi he fakataha ʻoe kakai, mo fakamālō
Where the people assemble, extol him, and praise him in council of elders.
33 ʻOku liliu ʻe ia ʻae ngaahi vaitafe ko e toafa, mo e ngaahi matavai ko e kelekele mōmoa;
He turns streams into a wilderness, springs of water into thirsty land,
34 Mo e fonua mahu ko e hongea, koeʻuhi ko e angakovi ʻae kakai ʻoku nofo ai.
fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the sin of the people.
35 ʻOku ne liliu ʻae toafa ko e ano vai, mo e fonua mōmoa ko e ngaahi matavai.
A desert he makes pools of water, a land of drought into springs of water.
36 Pea ʻoku ne pule ke nofo ai ʻae fiekaia, koeʻuhi kenau teuteu ʻae kolo ke nofo ai;
He settles the hungry therein, they establish a city to live in.
37 Mo tūtuuʻi ʻae ngaahi ngoue, pea tō ʻae ngaahi ngoue vaine, ʻaia ʻoku faʻa ʻomi ʻae ngaahi fua kuo tupu.
They sow fields and plant vineyards, which furnish a fruitful yield.
38 ʻOku ne fakamonūʻia foki ʻakinautolu, ko ia kuo nau tupu ʻo tokolahi ʻaupito; pea ʻoku ʻikai te ne tuku ke fakaʻaʻau ke siʻi ʻenau fanga manu.
By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he lets not their cattle decrease.
39 Pea ʻoku toe fakaʻaʻau ke tokosiʻi mo vaivai ʻakinautolu ʻi he fakamālohi, mo e mahaki, mo e mamahi.
Yet when they are bowed and diminished by oppression, misfortune, or sorrow,
40 ʻOku ne lilingi ʻae manuki ki he ngaahi ʻeiki, pea ʻoku ne pule kenau ʻalu fano ʻi he toafa, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai ha hala ʻi ai.
he pours contempt upon princes, and on trackless wastes leads them astray
41 Ka ʻoku ne hiki hake ʻae masiva mei he mamahi, pea ʻoku ne ngaohi maʻana ʻae ngaahi kāinga ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi.
He lifts the poor out of misery, and makes families fruitful as flocks.
42 ʻE mamata ki ai ʻae angatonu, pea fiefia; pea ʻe tāpuni ʻe he angahala kotoa pē hono ngutu.
At this sight shall the upright be glad, and all wicked mouths shall be stopped.
43 Ko hai ʻoku poto, pea tokanga ki he ngaahi meʻa ni, tenau ʻiloʻi ʻae ʻaloʻofa ongongofua ʻa Sihova.
Let those who are wise observe this, and consider the love of the Lord
