In the house of a righteous [man] is much treasure; but in the revenue of a wicked [man] is disturbance.
7 ‌ʻOku tufa atu ʻae poto ʻe he loungutu ʻoe poto: ka ʻoku ʻikai ke fai pehē ʻe he loto ʻoe vale.
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, but not so the heart of the foolish.
8 Ko e meʻa fakalielia kia Sihova ʻae feilaulau ʻae angahala: ka ko e lotu ʻae angatonu ʻoku ne fiemālie ai.
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to Jehovah; but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9 Ko e meʻa fakalielia kia Sihova ʻae hala ʻoe angakovi: ka ʻoku ne ʻofa kiate ia ʻoku muimui ki he māʻoniʻoni.
The way of a wicked [man] is an abomination to Jehovah; but him that pursueth righteousness he loveth.
10 Ko e meʻa fakamamahi ʻae tautea kiate ia kuo liʻaki ʻae hala: pea ko ia ʻoku fehiʻa ki he valoki ʻe mate ia.
Grievous correction is for him that forsaketh the path; he that hateth reproof shall die.

13 ‌ʻOku fakafiefiaʻi ʻae mata ʻe he loto ʻoku fiemālie: ka ʻoku maumauʻi ʻae laumālie ʻe he mamahi ʻoe loto.
A joyful heart maketh a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.
14 ‌ʻOku kumi ki he poto ʻe he loto ʻoʻona ʻoku faʻa ʻilo: ka ʻoku kai ʻae vale ʻe he ngutu ʻoe kakai vale.
The heart of an intelligent [man] seeketh knowledge; but the mouth of the foolish feedeth on folly.
15 ‌ʻOku kovi ʻae ʻaho kotoa pē ʻonautolu ʻoku mamahi: ka ʻoku fai kātoanga maʻuaipē ia ʻaia ʻoku loto fiemālie.
All the days of the afflicted are evil; but a cheerful heart is a continual feast.
16 ‌ʻOku lelei lahi hake ʻae meʻa siʻi mo e manavahē kia Sihova, ʻi he koloa lahi ʻoku maʻu mo e kovi.
Better is little with the fear of Jehovah than great store and disquietude therewith.
17 ‌ʻOku lelei hake ʻae meʻakai ʻaki ʻae louʻakau pea ai mo e ʻofa, ʻi he kai ha pulu kuo fafanga, kae maʻu mo e fehiʻa.
Better is a meal of herbs where love is, than a fatted ox and hatred therewith.

The way of the sluggard is as a hedge of thorns; but the path of the upright is made plain.
20 ‌ʻOku fakafiefiaʻi ʻae tamai ʻe he foha ʻoku poto: ka ʻoku fehiʻa ʻae tangata vale ki heʻene faʻē.
A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish man despiseth his mother.
21 Ko e vale ko e fakafiefia ia kiate ia ʻoku taʻemaʻu ʻae poto: ka ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi he angatonu ʻae tangata ʻoku faʻa ʻilo.
Folly is joy to him that is void of sense; but a man of understanding regulateth his walk.

Without counsel purposes are disappointed; but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.
23 ‌ʻOku maʻu ʻe he tangata ʻae fiefia ʻi he lea ʻa hono ngutu: pea ko e lea ʻoku fai ʻi hono kuonga totonu, hono ʻikai lelei fau ia!
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth; and a word in its season, how good is it!

The thoughts of the evil [man] are an abomination to Jehovah; but pure words are pleasant.
27 Ko ia ʻoku manumanu ki he koloa, ʻoku fakafiuʻi ʻe ia hono fale ʻoʻona; ka ko ia ʻoku fehiʻa ki he ngaahi meʻa foaki ʻe moʻui ia.
He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28 ‌ʻOku fakakaukau ʻe he loto ʻoe māʻoniʻoni ʻae lea te ne tali ʻaki: ka ʻoku malingi mei he ngutu ʻoe angahala ʻae ngaahi meʻa kovi.
The heart of a righteous [man] studieth to answer; but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 ‌ʻOku mamaʻo ʻaupito ʻa Sihova mei he angahala: ka ʻoku ne ongoʻi ʻae lotu ʻae māʻoniʻoni.
Jehovah is far from the wicked; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 ‌ʻOku fiefia ʻae loto ʻi he maama ʻoe mata: pea ʻoku tupu ʻi he ongoongolelei ʻae huhuʻa ʻoe hui.
That which enlighteneth the eyes rejoiceth the heart; good tidings make the bones fat.
31 Ko e telinga ʻoku fakafanongo ki he valoki fakamoʻui, ʻe nofomaʻu ia ʻi he haʻohaʻonga ʻoe poto.
The ear that heareth the reproof of life shall abide among the wise.
32 Ko ia ʻoku manuki ki he akonaki, ʻoku ne fehiʻa ki hono laumālie ʻoʻona: ka ko ia ʻoku fanongo ki he valoki, ʻoku maʻu ʻe ia ʻae loto poto.
He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul; but he that heareth reproof getteth sense.
33 Ko e manavahē kia Sihova, ko e akonaki ia ʻoe poto; pea ʻoku muʻomuʻa ʻae angavaivai ʻi he hakeakiʻi.
The fear of Jehovah is the discipline of wisdom, and before honour [goeth] humility.
