The wise woman buildeth her house; But the foolish teareth it down with her hands.
2 Ko ia ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi heʻene angatonu ʻoku manavahē ia kia Sihova: ka ko ia ʻoku pikopiko ʻi hono ngaahi hala ʻoku ne fehiʻa kiate ia.
He who walketh in uprightness feareth the LORD; But he who is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
3 ʻOku ai ʻae vaʻa ʻoe laukau ʻi he ngutu ʻoe vale: ka ʻoku fakamoʻui ʻae poto ʻe honau loungutu.
In the mouth of the foolish pride is a scourge; But the lips of the wise preserve them.

Where there are no oxen, the crib is clean; But there is great increase by the strength of the ox.
5 ʻE ʻikai faʻa loi ʻae fakamoʻoni angatonu: ka ʻe lea loi pe ʻae fakamoʻoni loi.
A faithful witness doth not lie; But a false witness poureth forth lies.
6 ʻOku kumi ʻae poto ʻe he manuki, ka ʻoku ʻikai te ne ʻilo ia: ka ʻoku maʻungofua ʻae poto kiate ia ʻoku fakakaukau.
The scoffer seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not; But knowledge is easy to the man of understanding.
7 ʻAlu atu mei he ʻao ʻoe tangata vale, ʻoka ke ka mamata ʻoku ʻikai ʻiate ia ʻae loungutu ʻoe poto.
Go from the presence of a foolish man; For thou hast not perceived in him the lips of knowledge.
8 Ko e poto eni ʻae fakamākukanga ke ne ʻilo pe hono hala: ka ko e vaʻinga ʻae vale ko e kākā ia.
The wisdom of the prudent is in giving heed to his way; But the folly of fools is deceit.
9 ʻOku manukiʻi ʻae angahala ʻe he kakai vale: ka ʻoku ai ʻae lelei ʻi he haʻohaʻonga ʻoe māʻoniʻoni.
Fools make a mock at sin; But with the upright is favor.
10 ʻOku ʻilo ʻe he loto ʻa ʻene mamahi ʻaʻana: pea ʻoku ʻikai ke kau ha taha kehe ʻi heʻene fiefia.
The heart knoweth its own bitterness. And a stranger cannot intermeddle with its joy.
11 ʻE holoki hifo ʻae fale ʻoe angahala: ka ʻe maʻu pe ʻae lelei ʻi he fale fehikitaki ʻoe angatonu.
The house of the wicked shall be destroyed; But the tent of the upright shall flourish.
12 ʻOku ai ʻae hala ʻoku matamata totonu ki he tangata, ka ko hono ngataʻanga ko e ngaahi hala ʻoe mate.
There is a way which seemeth right to a man, But its end is the way to death.
13 ʻI he lolotonga ʻae kata, ʻoku mamahi ai ʻae loto: pea ko e ikuʻanga ʻoe vākē ko ia ko e māfasia.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, And the end of joy is grief.
14 ʻE fakafonu ʻaia ʻoku fakaholomui ʻi loto ʻaki hono ngaahi hala ʻoʻona: pea ʻe mākona ʻae tangata angalelei meiate ia pe.
The perverse in heart shall be filled with his own ways; And from himself shall the good man be satisfied.
15 ʻOku tui ʻe he taʻepoto ki he lea kotoa pē: ka ʻoku tokanga lahi ʻaia ʻoku anga fakapotopoto ki heʻene ʻalu.
The simple man believeth every word; But the prudent looketh well to his steps.
16 ʻOku manavahē ʻae tangata poto, ʻo ne fakamamaʻo mei he kovi: ka ʻoku fakalili ʻae vale, mo faʻa polepole.
The wise man feareth, and departeth from evil; But the fool is haughty and confident.
17 ʻOku fai vale ia ʻaia ʻoku ʻita vave: pea ʻoku tupu ʻae fehiʻa ki he tangata ʻoku filioʻi kovi.
He who is hasty in his anger will commit folly; And the man of wicked devices will be hated.

The evil bow before the good; Yea, the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 ʻOku fehiʻanekina ʻae tangata masiva ʻe hono kaungāʻapi: ka ʻoku toko lahi ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻofa ki he koloaʻia.
The poor is hated even by his own neighbor; But the rich hath many friends.
21 Ko ia ʻoku fehiʻa ki hono kaungāʻapi ko e fai hala ia: ka ʻoku monūʻia ia ʻaia ʻoku angaʻofa ki he masiva.
He who despiseth his neighbor sinneth; But happy is he who hath mercy on the poor.
22 ʻIkai ʻoku hē ʻakinautolu ʻoku filioʻi kovi? Ka ʻe ʻoe kakai ʻoku filioʻi lelei ʻae ʻaloʻofa mo e moʻoni.
Do not they who devise evil fail of their end? But they who devise good meet with kindness and truth.
23 ʻOku ai hono ʻaonga ʻoe ngāue kotoa pē: ka ko e faʻa lea ʻae loungutu ʻoku tupu ai ʻae masiva.
In all labor there is profit; But the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 Ko e koloa ʻae poto ko honau tatā ia: ka ko e fai vale ʻae vale ko honau vale ia.
Riches are a crown to the wise; But the promotion of fools is folly.
25 ʻOku fakamoʻui ʻae ngaahi laumālie ʻe he fakamoʻoni ʻoku moʻoni: ka ʻoku lea ʻaki ʻae loi ʻe he fakamoʻoni loi.
A true witness saveth lives; But a deceitful witness poureth forth lies.
26 ʻOku ai ʻae falala mālohi ʻi he manavahē kia Sihova: pea ʻe maʻu ʻe heʻene fānau ʻae potu hūfanga.
In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence; Yea, to his children he will be a refuge.
27 Ko e manavahē kia Sihova ko e matavai ia ʻoe moʻui, ke tau hao ai mei he ngaahi tauhele ʻoe mate.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life; By it men escape from the snares of death.
28 ʻOku ongoongo lahi ha tuʻi ʻi he toko lahi ʻo hono kakai: ka ko e masiva kakai ko e vaivaiʻanga ia ʻoe houʻeiki.
In a numerous people is the glory of a king; But the want of people is the destruction of a prince.
29 ʻOku poto lahi ia ʻaia ʻoku fakatuotuai ʻene ʻita: ka ko ia ʻoku ʻoho vave hono loto ʻoku fakahikihiki ʻe ia ʻae vale.
He who is slow to anger is of great understanding. But he who is of a hasty spirit setteth folly on high.
30 Ko e loto angamalū ko e moʻui ia ʻae kakano: ka koe meheka koe fakapopo ia ʻoe ngaahi hui.
A quiet heart is the life of the flesh; But the ferment of passion is rottenness to the bones.
31 Ko ia ʻoku fakamālohiʻi ʻae masiva ʻoku manukiʻi ʻe ia ʻa hono Tupuʻanga: ka ko ia ʻoku fakaʻapaʻapa kiate ia, ʻoku angaʻofa ia ki he masiva.
He who oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker; But he who hath mercy on the poor honoreth him.
32 ʻOku kapusi atu ʻae angakovi ʻi heʻene angahala: ka ʻoku maʻu ʻe he māʻoniʻoni ʻae ʻamanaki lelei ʻi heʻene mate.
By his wickedness the wicked is thrust down; But the righteous hath hope even in death.
33 ʻOku nofo ʻae poto ʻi he loto ʻo ia ʻoku maʻu ʻae faʻa ʻilo: ka ʻoku fakahā mai ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he loto ʻoe kakai vale.
Wisdom resteth quietly in the heart of the wise; But in the breast of fools it will be made known.
34 ʻOku hiki hake ʻe he māʻoniʻoni ʻae puleʻanga. ka ko e meʻa fakamā ʻae angahala ki he ngaahi puleʻanga.
Righteousness exalteth a people; But the reproach of nations is sin.
35 ʻOku ʻofeina ʻe he tuʻi ʻae tamaioʻeiki ʻoku poto: ka ʻoku houhau ia kiate ia ʻoku tupu mei ai ʻae mā.
The king's favor is toward a wise servant; But his wrath is against him that causeth shame.
