1 Ko au Paula, ko e pōpula ʻa Kalaisi Sisu, mo Timote, ko e kāinga, kia Filimone, ko hotau ʻofeina, mo e kaunga ngaue,
Paul, prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy my brother, —unto Philemon the beloved, and a fellow worker of ours,
2 Pea kia ʻAfia ko e ʻofeina, mo ʻAkipo, ko hotau kaunga tau, pea ki he siasi ʻi ho fale:
And unto Apphia our sister. And unto Archippus our fellow-soldier, and unto the assembly which meeteth, at thy house:
3 Ke ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻofa, mo e monūʻia, mei he ʻOtua ko ʻetau Tamai, mo e ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi.
Favour unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and Lord Jesus Christ.
4 ʻOku ou fakafetaʻi ki hoku ʻOtua, ʻo huaʻaki maʻuaipē ʻa koe ʻi heʻeku ngaahi lotu,
I am giving thanks unto my God—always, making mention, of thee, in my prayers,
5 ʻI heʻeku fanongo ki hoʻo ʻofa mo e tui ʻoku ʻiate koe, ki he ʻEiki ko Sisu, pea ki he kāinga māʻoniʻoni kotoa pē;
Hearing of thy love, and of the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus and towards all the saints, —
6 Koeʻuhi ke mālohi hono hoko atu ʻo hoʻo tui, ʻi he ʻilo ʻoe ngaahi meʻa lelei kotoa pē ʻoku ʻiate kitautolu ʻia Kalaisi Sisu.
To the end that, the fellowship of thy faith, may become, energetic, by a personal knowledge of every good thing that is in us towards Christ;
7 He ʻoku ai haʻamau fiefia mo e fiemālie lahi ʻi hoʻo ʻofa, koeʻuhi kuo fakafiemālie ʻiate koe, ʻe kāinga, ʻae loto ʻoe kāinga māʻoniʻoni.
For, much joy, have I had, and encouragement, by occasion of thy love, in that, the tender affections of the saints, have had rest given them by thee, brother.
8 Ko ia, neongo ʻoku ʻiate au ʻae mālohi lahi meia Kalaisi ke fekau koe ke fai ʻaia ʻoku totonu,
Wherefore, though I have, much, freedom of speech, in Christ, to be enjoining upon thee that which is befitting,
9 Ka koeʻuhi ko e ʻofa, ʻoku ou fakakolekole muʻa, ʻio, ko au Paula ko e motuʻa, pea ko e pōpula foki eni ʻa Sisu Kalaisi.
Yet, for loves sake, I rather exhort, —being, such a one, as Paul the aged, now, also, even a prisoner of Christ Jesus, —
10 ʻOku ou kole kiate koe, koeʻuhi ko hoku foha ʻoʻoku ko Onesimosi, ʻaia kuo u fakatupu ʻi hoku haʻi:
I exhort thee concerning my own child, whom I have begotten in my bonds, —Onesimus:
11 ʻAia naʻe taʻeʻaonga kiate koe ʻi muʻa ka ʻoku ʻaonga eni kiate koe, pea mo au:
Him who, at one time, was, unto thee, unserviceable, but, now, unto thee and unto me, serviceable;
12 ʻAia kuo u toe fekau atu: ko ia ke ke maʻu ia, ʻaia ko hoku fatu ʻoʻoku:
Whom I have sent back unto thee—him, that is, my own, tender affections!—
13 He naʻaku fie taʻofi ia kiate au, koeʻuhi ke ne totongi koe ʻi he tauhi kiate au ʻi he ngaahi haʻi ʻoe ongoongolelei;
Whom, I, was minded, with myself, to detain, that, in thy behalf, unto me, he might be ministering in the bonds of the joyful message;
14 Ka ʻe ʻikai te u fai ha meʻa taʻetekeloto ki ai: koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa hangē ko e fakahohōloto hoʻo tokoni, kae loto lelei pe.
But, apart from thy mind, I wished to do, nothing, that, not as by necessity, thy goodness should be, but, by choice.
For, peradventure, for this cause, was he separated for an hour, that, as an age-abiding possession, thou mightest have him back, — (aiōnios g166)
16 Ka ʻe ʻikai kei hangē ha tamaioʻeiki, ka ke māʻolunga ʻi he tamaioʻeiki, ko e tokoua ʻofeina, ʻo lahi kiate au, kae fēfē hono lahi kiate koe, ʻi he sino, pea mo e ʻEiki?
No longer as a servant, but above a servant—a brother beloved, very greatly to me, but, how much rather, to thee—both in the flesh and in the Lord!
17 Ko ia kapau ʻoku ke lau au koe kaumeʻa, ke ke maʻu ia ʻo hangē ko au.
If, therefore, thou holdest me as one in thy fellowship, take him unto thee, as myself;
18 Kapau kuo fai kovi ia kiate koe, pea totonu ʻene totongi ha meʻa [kiate koe], lau ia kiate au;
And, if he hath wronged thee at all or oweth thee aught, the same, unto me, do thou reckon: —
19 Ko au Paula, kuo u tohi ʻaki hoku nima, te u totongi ia: ka ʻoku ʻikai teu tala atu kiate koe hono totonu ʻoka ne ke totongi ʻaki mai ʻa koe foki kiate au.
I, Paul, have written [it] with, my own, hand, —I, will repay [it]; that I may not tell thee—that, thyself, unto me, thou still owest.
20 ʻIo, kāinga, tuku ke u maʻu ʻae fiefia ʻiate koe ʻi he ʻEiki: fakafiemālie ki hoku loto ʻi he ʻEiki.
Yea! brother, I, would, from thee, have help, in the Lord: give rest unto my tender affections in Christ.
21 ʻI heʻeku ʻamanaki lelei ki hoʻo talangofua kuo u tohi ai kiate koe, pea ʻoku ou ʻilo te ke fai ʻo lahi hake ʻi he meʻa ʻoku ou tala.
Confident of thine obedience, I have written unto thee, knowing that, even beyond what I say, thou wilt do: —
22 Pea mo ʻeni foki, ke ke teuteu haʻaku nofoʻanga: he ʻoku ou ʻamanaki koe meʻa ʻi hoʻomou ngaahi lotu ʻe foaki au kiate kimoutolu.
At the same time, moreover, be also getting ready for me, a lodging; for I am hoping that, through your prayers, I shall be granted as a favour unto you.
23 ʻOku ʻofa atu kiate koe ʻa Epafasi, ko hoku kaungā nofo fale fakapōpula ʻia Kalaisi Sisu;
There salute thee—Epaphras my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,
24 Mo Maʻake, mo ʻAlisitako, mo Temasi, mo Luke, ko hoku kaunga ngaue.
Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, —my fellow-workers.
25 Ko e ʻofa ʻa hotau ʻEiki ko Sisu Kalaisi ke ʻi ho laumālie. ʻEmeni.
The favour of the Lord Jesus Christ, be with your spirit.
