< Maika 6 >

1 Mou fanongo mai ki he meʻa ʻoku folofola ki ai ʻa Sihova; “Tuʻu hake, pea ke fai ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ngaahi moʻunga, pea ke fanongo ʻae ngaahi tafungofunga ki ho leʻo.
Hear, I pray you, that which Jehovah is saying: 'Rise — strive thou with the mountains, And cause thou the hills to hear thy voice.'
2 Fanongo ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi moʻunga ki he fakamaau ʻae ʻEiki, mo kimoutolu ʻae ngaahi tuʻunga mālohi ʻo māmani; he ʻoku ai ʻae fakamaau ʻae ʻEiki mo hono kakai, pea te ne fakamatala mo ʻIsileli.
Hear, O mountains, the strife of Jehovah, Ye strong ones — foundations of earth! For a strife [is] to Jehovah, with His people, And with Israel He doth reason.
3 ‌ʻE hoku kakai, Ko e hā kuo u fai kiate koe? Pea kuo u fakafiuʻi ko e ʻi he hā? Fakamatala mai!
O My people, what have I done to thee? And what — have I wearied thee? Testify against Me.
4 He ne u ʻomi koe mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite, pea ne u huhuʻi koe mei he fale ʻoe kau tamaioʻeiki, pea ne u fekau ʻa Mōsese, mo ʻElone, mo Miliami ke ʻalu ʻi ho ʻao.
For I brought thee up from the land of Egypt, And from the house of servants I have ransomed thee, And I send before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
5 ‌ʻE hoku kakai, manatu eni ki he meʻa naʻe fakakaukau ki ai ʻe Pelaki, ko e tuʻi ʻo Moape, pea mo ia naʻe tali ʻaki ʻe Pelami ko e foha ʻo Peoli, mei Sitimi, ʻo aʻu ki Kilikali; koeʻuhi ke mou ʻilo ʻae māʻoniʻoni ʻa Sihova.”
O My people, remember, I pray you, What counsel did Balak king of Moab, What answer him did Balaam son of Beor, (From Shittim unto Gilgal, ) In order to know the righteous acts of Jehovah.'
6 Te u ʻunuʻunu atu mo e ha kia Sihova, mo fakatōmapeʻe au ʻi he ʻao ʻoe ʻOtua Māʻolunga? Te u ʻalu ki hono ʻao mo e ngaahi feilaulau tutu, mo e fanga ʻuhiki pulu ʻoku taha taʻu?
With what do I come before Jehovah? Do I bow to God Most High? Do I come before Him with burnt-offerings? With calves — sons of a year?
7 ‌ʻE fiemālie ʻa Sihova ʻi he ngaahi toko afe ʻoe sipitangata, pe ʻi he ngaahi vaitafe lolo ʻe taha mano? ʻE ʻatu ʻeku ʻuluaki, koeʻuhi ko ʻeku ngaahi hia; ʻae fua ʻo hoku sino, koeʻuhi ko e angahala ʻa hoku laumālie?
Is Jehovah pleased with thousands of rams? With myriads of streams of oil? Do I give my first-born [for] my transgression? The fruit of my body [for] the sin of my soul?
8 Kuo ne fakahā kiate koe, ʻe tangata ʻaia ʻoku lelei; pea ko e hā ʻoku ʻamanaki ʻe Sihova ʻiate koe, ka koeʻuhi ke ke fai totonu mo ke loto ki he ʻofa, mo ke ʻaʻeva mo ho ʻOtua ʻi he angavaivai?
He hath declared to thee, O man, what [is] good; Yea, what is Jehovah requiring of thee, Except — to do judgment, and love kindness, And lowly to walk with thy God?
9 Ko e leʻo ʻo Sihova ʻoku ui ki he kolo, pea ʻe mamata ki ho huafa [ʻe he tangata ]poto: “Fanongo ʻakimoutolu ki he meʻa tā, pea mo ia kuo ne tuʻutuʻuni ia.
A voice of Jehovah to the city calleth, And wisdom doth fear Thy name, Hear ye the rod, and Him who appointed it.
10 ‌ʻOku kei ʻi he fale ʻoe angahala ʻae koloa ʻoe angahala, mo e meʻa fua nounou ʻaia ʻoku fakalielia?
Are there yet [in] the house of the wicked Treasures of wickedness, And the abhorred scanty ephah?
11 Te u lau ʻakinautolu ko e maʻa ka ʻoku ʻi ai ʻae ngaahi meʻa fakamamafa kākā, pea mo e kato meʻa fakamamafa kākā?
Do I reckon [it] pure with balances of wickedness? And with a bag of deceitful stones?
12 He ʻoku pito ʻi he fakamālohi ʻae kau tangata koloaʻia ʻi ai, pea kuo lea loi ʻae kakai ʻo ia; pea ʻoku kākā ʻa honau ʻelelo ʻi honau ngutu.
Whose rich ones have been full of violence, And its inhabitants have spoken falsehood, And their tongue [is] deceitful in their mouth.
13 Ko ia foki te u fakamamahiʻi koe ʻi ho faʻa taaʻi, ʻi he ngaohi koe ke lala, koeʻuhi ko hoʻo ngaahi angahala.
And I also, I have begun to smite thee, To make desolate, because of thy sins.
Thou — thou eatest, and thou art not satisfied, And thy pit [is] in thy midst, And thou removest, and dost not deliver, And that which thou deliverest, to a sword I give.
15 Te ke tūtuuʻi ka ʻe ʻikai te ke tuʻusi; te ke malaki ʻae ʻolive, ka ʻe ʻikai te ke takai koe ʻaki ʻae lolo; pea mo e uaine melie, ka ʻe ʻikai te ke inu uaine.
Thou — thou sowest, and thou dost not reap, Thou — thou treadest the olive, And thou pourest not out oil, And new wine — and thou drinkest not wine.
16 He kuo maʻu pe ʻae ngaahi fono ʻa ʻOmili, pea mo e ngaahi ngāue ʻae fale ʻo ʻEhapi, pea ʻoku mou ʻeveʻeva ʻi heʻenau ngaahi fakakaukau; koeʻuhi ke u ngaohi kimoutolu ke lala, pea mo e kakai ʻo ia ko e fakaʻiseʻisa: ko ia te mou fua ai ʻae manuki ʻa hoku kakai.”
And kept habitually are the statutes of Omri, And all the work of the house of Ahab, And ye do walk in their counsels, For My giving thee for a desolation, And its inhabitants for a hissing, And the reproach of My people ye do bear!
