< Tangilāulau 3 >
1 Ko au ko e tangata kuo mamata ki he mamahi ʻi he meʻa tā ʻa hono houhau.
I AM the man that has seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 Kuo ne tataki au mo ʻomi au ki he poʻuli, kae ʻikai ki he maama.
He has led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
3 Ko e moʻoni kuo ne liliu kiate au, ʻoku ne liliu hono nima kiate au ʻi he ʻaho kotoa.
Surely against me is he turned; he turns his hand against me all the day.
4 Ko hoku kili mo hoku kakano kuo ne ngaohi ke motuʻa; kuo ne fesiʻi hoku ngaahi hui.
My flesh and my skin has he made old; he has broken my bones.
5 Kuo ne langaʻi meʻa kiate au, pea kuo ne takatakai au ʻaki ʻae kona mo e mamahi.
He has built against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 Kuo ne fokotuʻu au ʻi he ngaahi potu fakapoʻuli, ʻo hangē ko kinautolu naʻe pekia ʻi muʻa.
He has set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 Kuo ne ʻāʻi takatakai au pea ʻoku ʻikai te u faʻa hao kituʻa: kuo ne fakamamafa ʻa ʻeku haʻi ukamea.
He has hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he has made my chain heavy.
8 ʻO kau ka tangi foki mo kalanga, ʻoku ne taʻetokangaʻi ʻeku kole.
Also when I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.
9 Kuo ne ʻāʻi hoku ngaahi hala ʻaki ʻae ngaahi maka kuo tā, kuo ne fakapikoʻi hoku ngaahi hala.
He has enclosed my ways with hewn stone, he has made my paths crooked.
10 Naʻa ne hangē ha pea ʻoku toitoi kiate au, pea hangē ha laione ʻi he ngaahi potu lilo.
He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 Kuo ne mimioʻi hoku ngaahi ʻaluʻanga, pea kuo ne haehae au fakaikiiki: kuo ne ngaohi au ke lala pe.
He has turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he has made me desolate.
12 Kuo ne teke ʻa ʻene kaufana, pea kuo ne fokotuʻu au ko e fakaʻilonga ki he ngahau.
He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 Kuo ne pule ki he ngaahi ngahau ʻo ʻene tangai ke ʻasi ki hoku ngaahi kongaloto.
He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
14 Ko e manukiʻanga au ki hoku kakai; pea ko ʻenau tāʻanga ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē.
I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.
15 Kuo ne fakafonu au ʻaki ʻae kona, kuo ne fakakonaʻi au ʻaki ʻae konaʻiʻī.
He has filled me with bitterness, he has made me drunken with wormwood.
16 Kuo ne fesiʻi foki hoku kau nifo ʻaki ʻae kilikili, kuo ne pani au ʻaki ʻae efu.
He has also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he has covered me with ashes.
17 Pea kuo ke hiki hoku laumālie ke mamaʻo mei he melino: naʻe ngalo ʻiate au ʻae monūʻia.
And you have removed my soul far off from peace: I forgotten about prosperity.
18 Pea ne u pehē, “Ko ʻeku mālohi mo ʻeku ʻamanaki kuo ʻauha meia Sihova;”
And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:
19 ʻI heʻeku manatu ki hoku mahaki pea mo ʻeku mamahi, ʻae kona pea mo e ʻahu.
Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
20 ʻOku kei manatu ki ai hoku laumālie, pea ʻoku angavaivai ia ʻiate au.
My soul has them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 Ko ia ʻoku ou fakamanatu ki hoku loto, pea ko ia ʻoku ou kei maʻu ai ʻae ʻamanaki.
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 Ko e meʻa ʻi he ʻaloʻofa ʻa Sihova ʻoku ʻikai te tau ʻauha, koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai ke ngata ʻene manavaʻofa.
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 ʻOku foʻou ia ʻi he pongipongi kotoa pē, ʻoku lahi hoʻo angatonu.
They are new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
24 ʻOku pehē ʻe hoku laumālie, “Ko hoku tofiʻa ʻa Sihova: ko ia te u ʻamanaki lelei ʻiate ia.”
The LORD is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 ʻOku lelei ʻa Sihova kiate kinautolu ʻoku tatali kiate ia, ki he laumālie ʻoku kumi kiate ia.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks him.
26 ʻOku lelei ki he tangata ke ne ʻamanaki, pea ne tatali fakatatoka foki ki he fakamoʻui meia Sihova.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
27 ʻOku lelei ki he tangata ke ne fua ʻae haʻamo ʻi heʻene kei talavou.
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke of his youth.
28 ʻOku ne nofo tokotaha pe, pea ʻoku longo pe, koeʻuhi kuo ne fua ia ʻe ia pe.
He sits alone and keeps silence, because he has borne it upon him.
29 ʻOku ne ʻai hono ngutu ʻi he efu, ko e meʻa naʻa ʻoku kei ai ha ʻamanaki.
He puts his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
30 ʻOku ne tuku hono kouʻahe kiate ia ʻoku ne taaʻi ia: ʻoku ne pito ʻaupito ʻi he lauʻi kovi.
He gives his cheek to him that strikes him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 He koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai liʻaki ke lauikuonga ʻe Sihova:
For the LORD will not cast off for ever:
32 He kapau te ne fakamamahi, ka te ne manavaʻofa foki ʻo fakatatau ki hono lahi ʻo ʻene ngaahi ʻaloʻofa.
But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
33 He ʻoku ʻikai te ne fie tautea, pe fakamamahi ʻae fānau ʻae tangata.
For he does not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
34 Ke laiki ʻi hono lalo vaʻe ʻae ngaahi pōpula kotoa pē ʻo māmani,
To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth.
35 Ke fakatafe ʻae totonu ʻoe tangata ʻi he ʻao ʻoe fofonga ʻoe Fungani Māʻoniʻoni,
To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
36 Ke kākaaʻi ʻae tangata ʻi hono fakamaauʻi ʻoku ʻikai lelei ai ʻa Sihova.
To subvert a man in his cause, the LORD approves not.
37 Ko hai ia ʻoku fakahā, pea ʻoku hoko ia, ʻo kapau ʻoku ʻikai ke fekau ʻe Sihova?
Who is he that says, and it comes to pass, when the Lord commands it not?
38 ʻOku ʻikai ke ʻalu mei he fofonga ʻoe Fungani Māʻolunga ʻae lelei mo e kovi.
Out of the mouth of the most High proceeds not evil and good?
39 Ko e hā ʻoku lāunga ai ʻae tangata moʻui, ʻae tangata koeʻuhi ko e tautea ʻo ʻene ngaahi angahala?
Wherefore does a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
40 Ke tau kumi mo ʻahiʻahiʻi hotau ngaahi ʻaluʻanga, pea toe tafoki kia Sihova.
Let us search and try our ways, and return to the LORD.
41 Ke tau hiki hake hotau loto mo hotau nima ki he ʻOtua ʻi he ngaahi langi.
Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
42 “Kuo mau fai talangataʻa, pea kuo mau angatuʻu: ʻoku teʻeki ai te ke fakamolemole.
We have transgressed and have rebelled: you have not pardoned.
43 “Kuo ke ʻuʻufi ʻaki ʻae houhau, pea fakatangaʻi ʻakimautolu: kuo ke tāmateʻi pea naʻe ʻikai te ke manavaʻofa.
You have covered with anger, and persecuted us: you have slain, you have not pitied.
44 Kuo ke ʻufiʻufi koe ʻaki ʻae ʻao, ke ʻoua naʻa ʻasi atu ʻa ʻemau kole.
You have covered yourself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.
45 Kuo ke ngaohi ʻakimautolu ko e efe mo e ʻotoʻota ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe kakai.
You have made us as the waste and refuse in the midst of the people.
46 “Kuo mafaʻa ʻae ngutu ʻa homau kau fili kotoa pē kiate kimautolu.
All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.
47 Kuo hoko mai ʻae manavahē mo e tauhele kiate kimautolu, ʻae lala mo e ʻauha.”
Fear and a snare has come upon us, desolation and destruction.
48 ʻOku tafe hifo hoku mata, hangē ko e ngaahi vaitafe, koeʻuhi ko e ʻauha ʻae ʻofefine ʻo hoku kakai.
Mine eye runs down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
49 “ʻOku tafe hifo ʻa hoku mata, pea ʻikai ʻosi, ʻoku ʻikai siʻi ke tuku.
Mine eye trickes down, and ceases not, without any intermission.
50 Ke ʻoua ke ʻafio mai ʻa Sihova, pea vakai mei he langi.
Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.
51 Ko hoku mata ʻoku ne ueʻi hoku loto, koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi ʻofefine kotoa pē ʻo ʻeku kolo.
Mine eye affects mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
52 “Naʻe tuli fakamamahi au ʻe hoku kau fili hangē ha manupuna, taʻehanoʻuhinga.
Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.
53 Kuo nau motuhi ʻeku moʻui ʻi he fale fakapōpula, pea kuo lī ha maka kiate au.
They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.
54 naʻe melemo hoku ʻulu ʻi he ngaahi vai; pea ne u toki pehē, ‘Kuo motuhi au.’
Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.
55 “ʻE Sihova ne u ui ki ho huafa mei he fale fakapōpula taumamaʻo.
I called upon your name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.
56 Kuo ke fanongo ki hoku leʻo; ʻoua naʻa ke fufū ho fofonga ki heʻeku mānava, ki heʻeku tangi.
You have heard my voice: hide not your ear at my breathing, at my cry.
57 Naʻa ke ʻunuʻunu mai ʻo ofi ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ne u ui kiate koe: naʻa ke pehē, “ʻOua naʻa manavahē.”
You drew near in the day that I called upon you: you said, Fear not.
58 “ʻE Sihova kuo ke langomakiʻi hoku laumālie; kuo ke huhuʻi ʻeku moʻui.
O LORD, you have pleaded the causes of my soul; you have redeemed my life.
59 ʻE Sihova kuo ke ʻafioʻi ki he kovi kuo fai kiate au, fakamaau ʻe koe ʻeku meʻa.
O LORD, you have seen my wrong: judge you my cause.
60 Kuo ke ʻafio ki heʻenau lili kotoa pē, mo ʻenau ngaahi filioʻi kiate au.
You have seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.
61 “ʻE ʻEiki kuo ke fanongo ki heʻenau taukae, pea mo ʻenau ngaahi filioʻi kiate au;
You have heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;
62 ʻae loungutu ʻonautolu naʻe tuʻu hake kiate au, pea mo ʻenau fakatupu meʻa kiate au ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē.
The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.
63 Vakai ki heʻenau nofo hifo mo ʻenau tuʻu hake; ko au ko ʻenau taʻanga.
Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their music.
64 “ʻE ʻEiki ke ke tuku kiate kinautolu ha totongi, ʻo fakatatau ki he ngāue ʻa honau nima.
Render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.
65 Tuku kiate kinautolu ʻae mamahi ʻoe loto, ʻa hoʻo malaʻia kiate kinautolu.
Give them sorrow of heart, your curse unto them.
66 Fakatanga mo fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻi he houhau mei he lalo langi ʻa Sihova.
Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
