< Siosiua 3 >

1 Pea naʻe tuʻu hengihengi hake ʻa Siosiua ʻi he pongipongi; pea naʻa nau hiki mei Sitimi, ʻo hoko ki Sioatani, ʻaia mo e fānau kotoa pē ʻa ʻIsileli, ʻo nofo ʻi ai ʻi he teʻeki ke aʻa atu.
And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.
2 Pea hili ʻae ʻaho ʻe tolu pea pehē, naʻe ʻalu atu ʻae kau matāpule ki he fakataha ʻoe kautau:
And it came to pass at the end of three days, that the officers went through the camp;
3 Pea naʻa nau fekau ki he kakai, ʻo pehē, “ʻI hoʻomou mamata ki he puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, mo e kau taulaʻeiki mo e kau Livai ʻoku haʻamo ia, ke mou hiki ai mei homou potu, ʻo muimui ki ai.
and they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of Jehovah your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then remove from your place, and go after it;
4 Ka ʻe ai ha vahaʻa ʻiate kimoutolu mo ia, ko e hanga ʻe fā afe nai hono fuofua: ʻoua naʻa mou hoko ke ofi ki ai, koeʻuhi ke mou ʻilo ʻae hala ʻaia ʻoku totonu ke mou ʻalu ai: he ʻoku teʻeki ai te mou fou ʻi he hala ni.”
yet there shall be a distance between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Ye shall not come near it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go; for ye have not passed this way heretofore.
5 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Siosiua ki he kakai, “Fakamāʻoniʻoniʻi ʻakimoutolu: koeʻuhi ʻe fai ʻe Sihova ʻapongipongi ʻae ngaahi mana ʻiate kimoutolu.”
And Joshua said to the people, Hallow yourselves; for to-morrow Jehovah will do wonders in your midst.
6 Pea naʻe lea ʻa Siosiua ki he kau taulaʻeiki, ʻo pehē, “Toʻo hake ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava, pea ʻalu muʻomuʻa ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai. Pea naʻa nau toʻo hake ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava, ʻo ʻalu ʻo muʻomuʻa ʻi he kakai.”
And Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and go over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
7 Pea naʻe folofola ʻa Sihova kia Siosiua, “Ko e ʻaho ni te u kamata fakahikihiki koe ʻi he ʻao ʻo ʻIsileli kotoa pē, koeʻuhi kenau ʻilo, ʻo hangē ko ʻeku ʻia Mōsese, ʻe pehē pe ʻeku ʻiate koe.
And Jehovah said to Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee.
8 Pea ke fekau ʻe koe ki he kau taulaʻeiki ʻoku haʻamo ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava, ʻo pehē, ʻI hoʻomou hoko ki he veʻevai ʻo Sioatani, te mou tuʻumaʻu pe ʻi Sioatani.”
And thou shalt command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ye come to the edge of the waters of the Jordan, stand still in the Jordan.
9 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Siosiua ki he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, “Mou haʻu ki heni, pea fanongo ki he ngaahi folofola ʻo Sihova ko homou ʻOtua.”
And Joshua said to the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of Jehovah your God.
10 Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Siosiua, “Te mou ʻilo ʻi he meʻa ni ʻoku ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻOtua moʻui, pea ko e moʻoni ʻe kapusi ʻe ia mei homou ʻao ʻae kau Kēnani, mo e kau Heti, mo e kau Hevi, mo e kau Pelesi, mo e kau Keakasa, mo e kau ʻAmoli, mo e kau Sepusi.
And Joshua said, Hereby shall ye know that the living God is in your midst, and [that] he will without fail dispossess from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
11 Vakai, ko e puha ʻoe fuakava ʻa Sihova ʻo māmani kotoa pē ʻoku ʻalu muʻomuʻa ʻi homou ʻao ki loto Sioatani.
Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is going over before you into the Jordan.
12 Pea ko eni, mou fili ha kau tangata ʻe toko hongofulu ma toko ua mei he ngaahi faʻahinga ʻo ʻIsileli, ko e tangata pe taha mei he faʻahinga kotoa pē.
And now take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, one man for each tribe.
13 Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻi he hoko ʻae ʻaofivaʻe ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki ʻoku haʻamo ʻae puha ʻo Sihova, ko e ʻEiki ʻo māmani kotoa pē, ke tuʻu ki he vai ʻo Sioatani, ʻe motuhi leva ʻae vai ʻo Sioatani mei he vai ʻoku tafe hifo; pea ʻe tuʻu fakaʻesi pe ia.”
And it shall come to pass, when the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of Jehovah, the Lord of all the earth, rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan, the waters flowing down from above, shall be cut off, and shall stand up in a heap.
14 Pea naʻe pehē, ʻi he hiki ʻae kakai mei honau ngaahi fale fehikitaki, ke ʻalu ki he kauvai ʻe taha ʻo Sioatani, naʻe ʻalu muʻomuʻa ʻae kau taulaʻeiki ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai, ʻo haʻamo ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava;
And it came to pass when the people removed from their tents, to pass over the Jordan, that the priests bearing the ark of the covenant were before the people;
15 Pea ʻi he hoko ki Sioatani ʻakinautolu naʻe haʻamo ʻae puha, pea tuʻu ki he veʻevai ʻae vaʻe ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki naʻe haʻamo ʻae puha, (he naʻe fonu mahakehake ʻa Sioatani, ʻi hono ngaahi ngutu vai kotoa pē ʻi he kuonga kotoa pē ʻoe ututaʻu, )
and when they that bore the ark were come to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (and the Jordan is full over all its banks throughout the days of harvest),
the waters which flowed down from above stood [and] rose up in a heap, very far, by Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan; and those that flowed down towards the sea of the plain, the salt sea, were completely cut off. And the people went over opposite to Jericho.
17 Pea ko e kau taulaʻeiki ʻaia naʻe haʻamo ʻae puha ʻoe fuakava ʻo Sihova naʻe tuʻumaʻu ʻi he kelekele mōmoa ʻi loto Sioatani, pea naʻe ʻalu ʻae kakai ʻIsileli kotoa pē ʻi he kelekele mōmoa, ke ʻoua ke ʻosi ʻae kakai kotoa pē ki he kauvai ʻe taha ʻo Sioatani.
And the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of Jehovah stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan. And all Israel went over on dry ground, until all the nation had completely gone over the Jordan.
