< Soeli 2 >
1 Ifi ʻae meʻalea ʻi Saione, pea fanongonongo ʻae ilifia ʻi hoku moʻunga tapu: ke tetetete ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻoe fonua, koeʻuhi ʻoku hoko ʻae ʻaho ʻo Sihova, he ʻoku ofi ia;
Blow ye a trumpet in Zion, And shout ye in My holy hill, Tremble do all inhabitants of the earth, For coming is the day of Jehovah, for [it is] near!
2 Ko e ʻaho ʻoe fakapoʻuli, pea mo e fakapoʻupoʻuli, ko e ʻaho ʻaoʻaofia, pea mo e poʻuli matolu: hangē ko e pongipongi kuo mafola ʻi he funga moʻunga, ʻoku [hau ]pehē ʻae kakai lahi mo mālohi; naʻe ʻikai pehē ʻi muʻa, pea ʻe ʻikai toe hangē ko ia ʻamui, ʻo aʻu ki he ngaahi taʻu ʻoe ngaahi toʻutangata lahi.
A day of darkness and thick darkness, A day of cloud and thick darkness, As darkness spread on the mountains, A people numerous and mighty, Like it there hath not been from of old, And after it there is not again — till the years of generation and generation.
3 ʻOku kai ʻe he afi ʻi honau ʻao; pea ʻoku vela ʻae ulo afi ʻi honau tuʻa: ko e fonua ʻoku hangē ko e ngoue ko Iteni ʻi honau ʻao, pea ki mui ʻiate kinautolu ʻoku hangē ko e toafa kuo lala; ʻio, pea ʻe ʻikai hao ha meʻa meiate kinautolu.
Before it consumed hath fire, And after it burn doth a flame, As the garden of Eden [is] the land before it, And after it a wilderness — a desolation! And also an escape there hath not been to it,
4 ʻOku nau hā mai hangē ko e hā mai ʻae fanga hoosi; pea hangē ko e kau tangata heka hoosi, ʻe pehē ʻenau lele.
As the appearance of horses [is] its appearance, And as horsemen, so they run.
5 Hangē ko e ʻaulolongo ʻoe ngaahi saliote ʻi he funga moʻunga, ʻe pehē ʻenau hopohopo, ʻo hangē ko e mumuhu ʻoe ulo afi ʻi heʻene kai ʻae mohuku mōmoa, ʻo hangē ko e kakai mālohi kuo fakataha ki he tau.
As the noise of chariots, on the tops of the mountains they skip, As the noise of a flame of fire devouring stubble, As a mighty people set in array for battle.
6 ʻE mamahi lahi ʻae kakai ʻi honau ʻao: ʻe peko ʻae mata kotoa pē.
From its face pained are peoples, All faces have gathered paleness.
7 Te nau lele hangē ko e kau tangata mālohi; te nau kaka ʻi he ʻā, hangē ko e kau tangata tau; pea te nau laka taki taha ʻi hono hala, ka ʻe ʻikai ha taha te ne veuki ʻae fakaʻotu:
As mighty ones they run, As men of war they go up a wall, And each in his own ways they do go, And they embarrass not their paths.
8 Pea ʻe ʻikai te nau feteketekeʻi ʻae taha ki he taha; ka te nau taki taha ʻalu ʻi hono hala: pea ka nau ka tō ki he heletā, ʻe ʻikai te nau lavea.
And each his brother they press not, Each in his way they go on, If by the missile they fall, they are not cut off.
9 Te nau lele fano pe ʻi he kolo; te nau lele ʻi he fukahi ʻā, te nau kaka ki he tuʻa fale; te nau hū ʻi he ngaahi matapā sioʻata, hangē ko e kaihaʻa.
In the city they run to and fro, On the wall they run, Into houses they go up by the windows, They go in as a thief.
10 ʻE tetetete ʻae fonua ʻi honau ʻao; pea ʻe ngalulululu ʻae langi: ʻe poʻuli ʻae laʻā mo e māhina, pea ʻe taʻofi ʻenau ulo ʻe he ngaahi fetuʻu:
At their face trembled hath the earth, Shaken have the heavens, Sun and moon have been black, And stars have gathered up their shining.
11 Pea ʻe fakaongo hono leʻo ʻe Sihova ki heʻene kautau: he ʻoku lahi ʻae fakataha ʻo ʻene kautau: pea ʻoku mālohi ia ʻoku fai ki heʻene folofola: koeʻuhi ko e ʻaho ʻo Sihova ʻoku lahi mo fakamanavahē; pea ko hai te ne faʻa tuʻu ai?
And Jehovah hath given forth His voice before His force, For very great [is] His camp, For mighty [is] the doer of His word, For great [is] the day of Jehovah — very fearful, And who doth bear it?
12 ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Pea ko eni foki, mou tafoki kiate au ʻaki homou loto kotoa, pea ʻi he ʻaukai, pea ʻi he tangi, mo e tangilāulau:”
And also now — an affirmation of Jehovah, Turn ye back unto Me with all your heart, And with fasting, and with weeping, And with lamentation.
13 Pea mou haehae homou loto, kae ʻikai ko homou kofu pe, pea tafoki kia Sihova, ko homou ʻOtua: he ʻoku ne angalelei mo ʻaloʻofa, ʻo tuotuai ki he houhau, pea ʻoku ne angaʻofa lahi, pea ʻoku ne fakatomala ʻi he kovi.
And rend your heart, and not your garments, And turn back unto Jehovah your God, For gracious and merciful [is] He, Slow to anger, and abundant in kindness, And He hath repented concerning the evil.
14 ʻE ʻilo ʻe hai? Pe te ne tafoki mo fakatomala, pea tuku mai ki mui ha tāpuaki ʻiate ia; ʻio, ha feilaulau meʻakai, pea mo e feilaulau meʻainu kia Sihova ko homou ʻOtua?
Who knoweth — He doth turn back, Yea — He hath repented, And He hath left behind Him a blessing, A present and libation of Jehovah your God?
15 Ifi ʻae meʻalea ʻi Saione, tuʻutuʻuni ha ʻaukai, ui ʻae fakataha mamafa:
Blow ye a trumpet in Zion, Sanctify a fast — proclaim a restraint.
16 Tānaki ʻae kakai, fakatapui ʻae fakataha, fakakātoa mai ʻae kau mātuʻa, tānaki ʻae fānau, pea mo kinautolu ʻoku kei huhu: ke ʻalu ʻae tangata taʻane mei hono fale teuteu, pea mo e taʻahine mei hono loki.
Gather the people, sanctify an assembly, Assemble the aged, Gather infants and sucklings of the breasts, Go out let a bridegroom from his inner chamber, And a bride out of her closet.
17 Tuku ke tangi ʻae kau taulaʻeiki, ʻae kau faifekau ʻa Sihova, ʻi he vahaʻa ʻoe fale hala mo e feilaulauʻanga, pea ke nau lea pehē, “ʻE Sihova, fakamoʻui hoʻo kakai, pea ʻoua naʻa ke tuku ho tofiʻa ki he manuki, ke puleʻi ʻakinautolu ʻe he hiteni: koeʻumaʻā ʻenau pehē ʻi he lotolotonga ʻo hoʻo kakai, ‘ʻOku ʻi fē honau ʻOtua?’”
Between the porch and the altar weep let the priests, ministrants of Jehovah, And let them say: 'Have pity, O Jehovah, on Thy people, And give not Thy inheritance to reproach, To the ruling over them of nations, Why do they say among peoples, Where [is] their God?'
18 Pea ʻe toki fuaʻa ʻa Sihova ki hono fonua, pea ʻofa mamahi ki hono kakai.
And let Jehovah be zealous for His land, And have pity on His people.
Let Jehovah answer and say to His people, 'Lo, I am sending to you the corn, And the new wine, and the oil, And ye have been satisfied with it, And I make you no more a reproach among nations,
20 Ka te u ʻave ke mamaʻo ʻiate kimoutolu ʻae tau mei he tokelau, pea te u kapusi ʻakinautolu ki ha fonua kākā mo lala, ʻoku hanga hono mata ki he tahi hahake, pea mo hono tuʻa ki he tahi mamaʻo atu ʻaupito, pea ʻe ʻalu hake hono namukū, pea ʻe ʻalu hake hono ʻeho ʻo ia,” Koeʻuhi kuo ne fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa lahi.
And the northern I put far off from you, And have driven him unto a land dry and desolate, With his face unto the eastern sea, And his rear unto the western sea, And come up hath his stink, And come up doth his stench, For he hath exerted himself to work.
21 “ʻE fonua, ʻoua naʻa manavahē; fiefia pea nekeneka: koeʻuhi ʻe fai ʻe Sihova ʻae meʻa lahi.
Do not fear, O land! joy and rejoice, For Jehovah hath exerted Himself to work.
22 ʻOua naʻa manavahē, ʻe fanga manu ʻoe vao! He ʻoku tupu ʻae mohuku ʻi he toafa, pea ʻoku fua ʻae ʻakau, ko e ʻakau ko e fiki mo e vaine, ʻoku tuku mai hona mālohi.
Do not fear, O cattle of the field! For sprung forth have pastures of a wilderness, For the tree hath borne its fruit, Fig-tree and vine have given their strength!
23 “Pea mou fiemālie, ʻe fānau ʻa Saione, pea fiefia ʻia Sihova, ko homou ʻOtua: koeʻuhi kuo ne foaki kiate kimoutolu fakalelelelei ʻae ʻuha muʻa, pea te ne tuku ke tō kiate kimoutolu ʻae ʻuha, ko e ʻuha muʻa, mo e ʻuha mui, ʻi he ʻuluaki māhina.
And ye sons of Zion, joy and rejoice, In Jehovah your God, For He hath given to you the Teacher for righteousness, And causeth to come down to you a shower, Sprinkling and gathered — in the beginning.
24 Pea ʻe fonu ʻi he uite ʻae ngaahi hahaʻanga, pea ʻe pito mahuohua ʻae ngaahi tataʻoʻanga ʻi he uaine mo e lolo.
And full have been the floors [with] pure corn, And overflown have the presses [with] new wine and oil.
25 Pea te u toe ʻomi kiate kimoutolu ʻae ngaahi taʻu ne kai ʻe he heʻe mo e ʻunufe maumau, mo e ʻunufe, mo e ʻunufe fulufulu, ko ʻeku kau tau lahi naʻaku fekau kiate kimoutolu.
And I have recompensed to you the years That consume did the locust, the cankerworm, And the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, My great force that I did send against you.
26 Pea te mou kai ʻi he mahu, pea te mou mākona ai, pea fakamālō ki he huafa ʻo Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ʻaia kuo ne fai fakaofo kiate kimoutolu: pea ʻe ʻikai toe mā ʻa hoku kakai ʻo lauikuonga.
And ye have eaten, eating and being satisfied, And have praised the name of Jehovah your God, Who hath dealt with you wonderfully, And not ashamed are My people to the age.
27 Pea te mou ʻilo ʻoku ou ʻi he haʻohaʻonga ʻo ʻIsileli, pea ko Sihova au ko homou ʻOtua, kae ʻikai ha taha kehe: pea ʻe ʻikai toe mā ʻa hoku kakai ʻo lauikuonga.
And ye have known that in the midst of Israel [am] I, And I [am] Jehovah your God, and there is none else, And not ashamed are My people to the age.
28 “Pea ʻe hoko ʻamui, te u huaʻi hoku Laumālie ki he kakai kotoa pē; pea ʻe kikite homou ngaahi foha mo homou ngaahi ʻofefine, pea ʻe misi ʻe hoʻo kau mātuʻa ʻae ngaahi misi, pea ʻe mamata ʻae ngaahi meʻa hā mai ʻe hoʻo kau talavou:
And it hath come to pass afterwards, I do pour out My Spirit on all flesh, And prophesied have your sons and your daughters, Your old men do dream dreams, Your young men do see visions.
29 Pea ki he kau tamaioʻeiki mo e kau kaunanga, te u huaʻi foki hoku Laumālie ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia.
And also on the men-servants, and on the maid-servants, In those days I do pour out My Spirit.
30 Pea te u fakahā ʻae ngaahi meʻa fakaofo ʻi he langi, pea ʻi māmani, ko e toto, mo e afi, mo e ʻahu ʻoe afi.
And I have given wonders in the heavens, and in the earth, Blood and fire, and columns of smoke.
31 Pea ʻe liliu ʻae laʻā ʻo poʻuli, mo e māhina ke toto ʻi he teʻeki hoko ʻae ʻaho lahi, pea fakamanavahē ʻo Sihova.
The sun is turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, Before the coming of the day of Jehovah, The great and the fearful.
32 Pea ʻe pehē, ko ia ʻe ui ki he huafa ʻo Sihova ʻe fakamoʻui ia: koeʻuhi ʻe ai ʻae fakamoʻui ʻi he moʻunga ko Saione, pea ʻi Selūsalema, ʻo hangē ko e folofola ʻa Sihova, pea ʻi he toenga ʻe uiuiʻi ʻe Sihova.”
And it hath come to pass, Every one who calleth in the name of Jehovah is delivered, For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there is an escape, As Jehovah hath said, And among the remnants whom Jehovah is calling!
