1 Ka naʻe fai ai pe ʻe Elihu ʻene lea, ʻo ne pehē,
Elihu also continued, and said,
2 “Ke ke kātaki siʻi pe au, pea te u fakahā kiate koe ʻaia ʻoku toe ʻiate au ke lea ʻaki koeʻuhi ko e ʻOtua.
"Bear with me a little, and I will show you; for I still have something to say on God's behalf.
3 Te u ʻomi ʻa ʻeku ʻilo mei he mamaʻo, pea te u tuku ʻae māʻoniʻoni ki hoku Tupuʻanga.
I will get my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
4 He ko e moʻoni ʻe ʻikai hala ʻa ʻeku ngaahi lea: ko ia ia ʻoku haohaoa ʻi he ʻilo ʻoku ʻiate koe.
For truly my words are not false. One who is perfect in knowledge is with you.
5 “Vakai, ʻoku māfimafi ʻae ʻOtua, pea ʻoku ʻikai te ne manukiʻi ha tokotaha: ʻoku māfimafi ia ʻi he mālohi mo e poto.
"Look, God is mighty, and doesn't despise anyone. He is mighty in strength of understanding.
6 ‌ʻOku ʻikai te ne fakatolonga ʻae moʻui ʻae angakovi: ka ʻoku ne foaki ʻae totonu ki he masiva.
He doesn't preserve the life of the wicked, but gives to the afflicted their right.
7 ‌ʻOku ʻikai toʻo ʻe ia hono fofonga mei he māʻoniʻoni; ka ʻoku nau ʻi he ngaahi tuʻi ʻi he nofoʻanga fakaʻeiʻeiki; ʻio, ʻoku ne fakatuʻumaʻu ʻakinautolu ke taʻengata, pea kuo hakeakiʻi ʻakinautolu.
He doesn't withdraw his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne, he sets them forever, and they are exalted.
8 Pea kapau kuo haʻi ʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻae ngaahi ukamea fakamaʻu, pea fakamaʻu ʻaki ʻae ngaahi afo ʻoe mahaki;
If they are bound in fetters, and are taken in the cords of afflictions,
9 ‌ʻOku ne fakahā ai kiate kinautolu ʻenau ngaahi ngāue, mo ʻenau ngaahi talangataʻa ʻaia kuo nau angatuʻu ai.
then he shows them their work, and their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.
10 ‌ʻOku ne fakaava honau telinga foki ki he akonaki, pea fekau ke nau tafoki, pea fekau ke nau tafoki mei he angahia.
He also opens their ears to instruction, and commands that they return from iniquity.
11 Kapau te nau talangofua pea tauhi ia, te nau fakaʻosi honau ngaahi ʻaho ʻi he monūʻia, mo honau ngaahi taʻu ʻi he fiemālie.
If they listen and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
12 Pea kapau ʻe ʻikai te nau talangofua, te nau ʻauha ʻi he heletā, pea te nau mate taʻemaʻu ʻae ʻilo.
But if they do not listen, they shall perish by the sword; they shall die without knowledge.
13 “Ka ko e kau loto mālualoi ʻoku nau fokotuʻu ʻae houhau: ʻoku ʻikai te nau tangi ʻi heʻene haʻisia ʻakinautolu.
"But those who are godless in heart lay up anger. They do not cry for help when he binds them.
14 ‌ʻOku nau mate ʻi he kei talavou, pea ʻoku ʻi he kau taʻemaʻa ʻa ʻenau moʻui.
They die in youth. Their life perishes among the unclean.
15 ‌ʻOku ne fakamoʻui ʻae mahaki ʻi hono mahaki, pea ne fakaava honau telinga ʻi he taʻomia.
He delivers the afflicted by their affliction, and opens their ear in oppression.
16 Pea ka ne ke pehē, kuo ne hiki foki koe mei he potu ʻapiʻapi ki he potu ʻataʻatā, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai ʻi ai ha ʻapiʻapi; pea ko ia ʻe ʻi ho keinangaʻanga ʻe pito ia ʻi he ngako.
Yes, he would have allured you out of distress, into a broad place, where there is no restriction. That which is set on your table would be full of fatness.
17 “Ka kuo ke fakakakato ʻae fakamaau ʻoe kau angakovi: ko e fakamaau mo e angatonu ʻoku na puke koe.
"But you are full of the judgment of the wicked. Judgment and justice take hold of you.
18 “Koeʻuhi ʻoku ai ʻae houhau, ke ke vakai telia naʻa ne toʻo atu koe ʻi heʻene tā: pea ka pehē, ʻe ʻikai faʻa fakahaofi koe ʻe he huhuʻi lahi.
Do not let riches entice you to wrath, neither let the great size of a bribe turn you aside.
19 Pea ʻe manako ia ki hoʻo ngaahi koloa? ʻIkai ʻi he koula, pe ko e mafai kotoa pē ʻoe mālohi.
Would your wealth sustain you in distress, or all the might of your strength?
20 ‌ʻOua naʻa ke holi ki he pō, ʻaia kuo motuhi ai ʻae kakai mei honau fonua.
Do not desire the night, when people are cut off in their place.
21 Ke ke vakai, ke ʻoua naʻa ke tokanga ki he angahia: he kuo ke tomuʻa fili ia ʻi he mahaki.
Take heed, do not regard iniquity; for you have chosen this rather than affliction.
22 Vakai, ʻoku hakeakiʻi ʻe he ʻOtua ʻi hono mālohi: ko hai ʻoku akonaki ʻo hangē ko ia?
Look, God is exalted in his power. Who is a teacher like him?
23 Ko hai kuo ne tuʻutuʻuni kiate ia ʻa hono hala? Pe ko hai te ne faʻa pehē, ‘Kuo ke fai angahala?’
Who has prescribed his way for him? Or who can say, 'You have committed unrighteousness?'
24 “Ke ke manatu ke fakaongolelei ʻa ʻene ngāue, ʻaia ʻoku mamata ki ai ʻae kakai.
"Remember that you magnify his work, whereof men have sung.
25 ‌ʻE faʻa mamata ki ai ʻae tangata kotoa pē, ʻe faʻa vakai ki ai ʻae tangata ʻi he kei mamaʻo.
All men have looked thereon. Man sees it afar off.
26 Vakai, ʻoku lahi ʻae ʻOtua, pea ʻoku ʻikai te tau faʻa ʻiloʻi ia, pea ko e lau ʻo hono ngaahi ʻaho ʻoku taʻefaʻahakule.
Look, God is great, and we do not know him. The number of his years is unsearchable.
27 He ʻoku ne toʻo hake ʻae ngaahi mosiʻi vai: ʻoku nau huaʻi hifo ʻae ʻuha ʻo fakatatau ki he mao ʻo ia:
For he draws up the drops of water, which distill in rain from his vapor,
28 ‌ʻAia ʻoku tō hifo ʻe he ngaahi ʻao, pea ʻuha lahi ki he tangata.
Which the skies pour down and which drop on humankind abundantly.
29 Pea ʻe faʻa ʻilo koā ʻe ha taha hono folahi atu ʻoe ngaahi ʻao, pe ki he longoaʻa ʻo hono nofoʻanga?
Yes, can any understand the spreading of the clouds, and the thunderings of his pavilion?
30 Vakai, ʻoku ne folahi atu ʻa ʻene maama ki ai, pea ʻoku ne ʻufiʻufi ʻae kilisitahi.
Look, he spreads his light around him. He covers the bottom of the sea.
31 He ʻoku ne fakamaau ʻae kakai ʻaki ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni; ʻoku ne foaki ʻae meʻakai lahi ʻaupito.
For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.
32 ‌ʻOku ne ʻufiʻufi ʻae maama ʻaki ʻae ngaahi ʻao; pea ne fekauʻi ia ʻi heʻene hoko ʻi he vahaʻa ke ʻoua naʻa ulo.
He covers his hands with the lightning, and commands it to strike the mark.
33 Ko hono longoaʻa ʻoku ne fakahā ia, ko e houhau lahi ki he angahala.
Its noise tells about him, and the livestock also concerning the storm that comes up.
