1 Pea naʻe toki tali ʻe Pilitati mei Suaa, ʻo ne pehē,
Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
2 “ʻOku ʻiate ia ʻae pule mo e manavahēʻia, ʻoku ne fakamelino ʻi hono ngaahi potu māʻolunga.
“Dominion and fear are with him. He makes peace in his high places.
3 He ʻoku faʻa lauʻi ʻa ʻene ngaahi matatau? Pea ko hai ia ʻoku ʻikai hopo ki ai ʻa ʻene maama?
Can his armies be counted? On whom does his light not arise?
4 Pea ka kuo pehē, ʻe faʻa fakatonuhia fēfē ʻae tangata mo e ʻOtua? Pea ʻe maʻa fēfē ʻaia kuo fanauʻi ʻe he fefine?
How then can man be just with God? Or how can he who is born of a woman be clean?
5 Vakai pē ki he māhina, pea ʻoku ʻikai huhulu ia; ʻio, ko e ngaahi fetuʻu ʻoku ʻikai maʻa ʻi hono ʻao.
Behold, even the moon has no brightness, and the stars are not pure in his sight;
6 Ka ʻe huanoa ʻae tangata ʻaia ko e kelemutu? Mo e foha ʻoe tangata, ʻaia ko e kelemutu?”
How much less man, who is a worm, and the son of man, who is a worm!”
