1 ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “ʻI he ngaahi ʻaho ko ia te nau ʻomi mei honau ngaahi faʻitoka, ʻae hui ʻoe ngaahi tuʻi ʻo Siuta, mo e ngaahi hui ʻoe houʻeiki, mo e hui ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki, mo e hui ʻoe kau palōfita, pea mo e ngaahi hui ʻoe kakai ʻo Selūsalema.
“At that time,” declares the LORD, “the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of the officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.
2 Pea te nau fofola ʻakinautolu ʻi he ʻao ʻoe laʻā, pea mo e māhina, mo e meʻa kotoa pē ʻoe langi, ʻaia kuo nau ʻofa ki ai, pea kuo nau tauhi, pea kuo nau muimui ki ai, pea kuo nau kumi pea kuo nau lotu ki ai; pea ʻe ʻikai tānaki ʻakinautolu, pe tanu; ka te nau hoko ko e kinohaʻa ʻi he funga ʻoe kelekele.
They will be exposed to the sun and moon, and to all the host of heaven which they have loved, served, followed, consulted, and worshiped. Their bones will not be gathered up or buried, but will become like dung lying on the ground.
3 Pea ʻe fili ʻae mate ʻi he moʻui ʻekinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku toe ʻi he faʻahinga kovi ni, ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku toe ʻi he ngaahi potu kuo u kapusi ʻakinautolu ki ai,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
And wherever I have banished them, the remnant of this evil family will choose death over life,” declares the LORD of Hosts.
4 “Pea te ke lea kiate kinautolu foki, ‘ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; “‘Te nau hinga, pea ʻe ʻikai toetuʻu? Te ne ʻalu atu pea ʻe ʻikai toe foki mai?
So you are to tell them this is what the LORD says: “Do men fall and not get up again? Does one turn away and not return?
5 Ka ko e hā kuo fakaholomui ai ʻae kakai ni ʻo Selūsalema ʻo fakaholomui maʻuaipē? ʻOku nau kuku maʻu ki he kākā, ʻoku ʻikai te nau fie tafoki mai.
Why then have these people turned away? Why does Jerusalem always turn away? They cling to deceit; they refuse to return.
6 Pea naʻaku fakafanongo pea ongoʻi, ka naʻe ʻikai te nau lea totonu: naʻe ʻikai ha tangata kuo fakatomala ʻi heʻene kovi, ʻo ne pehē, “Ko e hā kuo u fai?” Kuo taki taha foki ki heʻene anga ʻaʻana, ʻo hangē ko e ʻoho ʻae hoosi ki he tau.
I have listened and heard; they do not speak what is right. No one repents of his wickedness, asking, ‘What have I done?’ Everyone has pursued his own course like a horse charging into battle.
7 ʻIo, ʻoku ʻilo ʻe he motuku ʻi he langi hono ngaahi ʻaho kuo tuʻutuʻuni; pea mo e lupe, mo e kelene, pea mo e sualo honau ʻaho ke haʻu ai; ka ʻoku ʻikai ʻilo ʻe hoku kakai ʻae fakamaau ʻa Sihova.
Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons. The turtledove, the swift, and the thrush keep their time of migration, but My people do not know the requirements of the LORD.
8 “‘ʻOku fēfē hoʻomou pehē, “ʻOku mau poto, pea ʻoku ʻiate kimautolu ʻae fono ʻa Sihova?” Ko e moʻoni kuo liliu ʻae meʻa ni ko e loi, ʻe he peni kākā ʻae kau tangata tohi.
How can you say, ‘We are wise, and the Law of the LORD is with us,’ when in fact the lying pen of the scribes has produced a deception?
9 Kuo mā ʻae kau tangata poto, kuo tauhele mo fakailifia ʻakinautolu: Vakai, kuo nau liʻaki ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova; pea ko e hā ʻae poto ʻoku ʻiate kinautolu?
The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the LORD, what wisdom do they really have?
10 Ko ia te u foaki honau ngaahi uaifi ki he kakai kehe: he ʻoku manumanu ʻakinautolu taki taha mei he iiki, ʻio, ʻo aʻu ki he lalahi, ʻoku taki taha fai kākā mei he palōfita ʻo aʻu ki he taulaʻeiki.
Therefore I will give their wives to other men and their fields to new owners. For from the least of them to the greatest, all are greedy for gain; from prophet to priest, all practice deceit.
11 He kuo nau fakamoʻui kākā ʻae lavea ʻoe ʻofefine ʻo hoku kakai, ʻonau pehē, “Fiemālie, fiemālie;” ka ʻoku ʻikai ha fiemālie.
They dress the wound of the daughter of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
12 He naʻa nau mā ʻi he hili ʻenau fai ʻae meʻa fakalielia? Naʻe ʻikai; naʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te nau mā, pe fekulaʻi honau mata: ko ia te nau tō hifo fakataha mo kinautolu ʻoku hinga: ʻe fakatō ki lalo ʻakinautolu, ʻo kau ka tautea ʻakinautolu, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.’”
Are they ashamed of the abomination they have committed? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; when I punish them, they will collapse, says the LORD.
13 ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Ko e moʻoni te u fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu:” ʻe ʻikai fua ʻae ngaahi vaine, pea ʻe ʻikai fua ʻae ngaahi fiki, ka ʻe mae hono lau; pea ʻe mole ʻiate kinautolu ʻae ngaahi meʻa naʻaku foaki kiate kinautolu.”
I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the tree, and even the leaf will wither. Whatever I have given them will be lost to them.”
14 “Ko e hā ʻoku tau nofo fakafiemālie ai? Ke tau fakataha pea ʻalu ki he ngaahi kolo mālohi, pea ke tau tatali fakalongolongo ʻi ai: he kuo fakalongoʻi ʻakitautolu ʻe Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua, pea kuo ne foaki kiate kitautolu ʻae huhuʻa kona ʻoe ʻahu ke inu, koeʻuhi kuo tau fai angahala kia Sihova.
Why are we just sitting here? Gather together, let us flee to the fortified cities and perish there, for the LORD our God has doomed us. He has given us poisoned water to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.
15 Naʻa tau ʻamanaki ki he fiemālie, ka naʻe ʻikai haʻu ha lelei; ki he fakamoʻui, ka e vakai ko e mamahi!
We hoped for peace, but no good has come, for a time of healing, but there was only terror.
16 Naʻe ongo mai mei Tani ʻae tangi ʻo ʻene fanga hoosi, naʻe ngalulu ʻae fonua kotoa pē ʻi he ʻuʻulu ʻae tangi ʻae fanga hoosi tau; he kuo nau haʻu mo kai ʻo ʻosi ʻae fonua, mo e meʻa fulipē naʻe ʻi ai; ko e kolo, mo kinautolu ʻoku nofo ai.”
The snorting of enemy horses is heard from Dan. At the sound of the neighing of mighty steeds, the whole land quakes. They come to devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who dwell in it.
17 He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Vakai, te u fekau kiate kinautolu ʻae fanga ngata mo e fanga ngata fekai, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai faʻa fakalata, pea te nau ʻuusi ʻakinautolu.”
“For behold, I will send snakes among you, vipers that cannot be charmed, and they will bite you,”
18 ʻO kau ka fakafiemālieʻi au ʻi heʻeku mamahi, ʻoku vaivai hoku loto ʻiate au.
My sorrow is beyond healing; my heart is faint within me.
19 Vakai, ko e leʻo ʻoe tangi ʻae ʻofefine ʻo hoku kakai, koeʻuhi ko kinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he fonua mamaʻo: “ʻIkai ʻoku ʻi Saione ʻe Sihova? ʻIkai ʻoku ʻiate ia hono tuʻi?” “Ko e hā ʻoku nau fakaʻita ai au ʻaki ʻenau ngaahi tamapua kuo tongi, pea mo e ngaahi meʻa vaʻinga?”
Listen to the cry of the daughter of my people from a land far away: “Is the LORD no longer in Zion? Is her King no longer there?” “Why have they provoked Me to anger with their carved images, with their worthless foreign idols?”
20 “Kuo ʻosi ʻae ututaʻu, kuo hili ʻae faʻahitaʻu mafana, pea ʻoku teʻeki ai fakamoʻui ʻakitautolu.”
“The harvest has passed, the summer has ended, but we have not been saved.”
21 He ko e mamahi ʻo hoku kakai, ʻoku ou mamahi ai; ʻoku ou ʻalu mamahi, kuo pukea au ʻi he fakatumutumu.
For the brokenness of the daughter of my people I am crushed. I mourn; horror has gripped me.
22 ʻIkai ʻoku ai ʻae lolo faitoʻo ʻi Kiliati? ʻIkai ʻoku ai ha faitoʻo ʻi ai? Pea ko e hā ʻoku ʻikai moʻui ai ʻae ʻofefine ʻo hoku kakai?
Is there no balm in Gilead? Is no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?
