< Selemaia 6 >
1 “ʻAe fānau ʻa Penisimani mou fakataha ʻakimoutolu pea hola atu mei Selūsalema, pea ifi ʻae meʻalea ʻi Tikoa, pea fokotuʻu ʻae fakaʻilonga afi ʻi Pete-Hakilime; he ʻoku hā mai ʻae kovi mei he tokelau, pea mo e fakaʻauha lahi.
Flee for safety, ye children of Benjamin, out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a signal in Beth-haccerem; for evil appeareth out of the north, and a great destruction.
2 Kuo u fakatatau ʻae ʻofefine ʻo Saione ki he fefine hoihoifua mo angalelei.
The comely and delicate one do I cut off, the daughter of Zion.
3 ʻE haʻu kiate ia ʻae kau tauhi mo ʻenau fanga sipi; pea te nau fokotuʻu honau ngaahi fale fehikitaki ʻo takatakai kiate ia; pea te nau taki taha kai ʻi hono potu ʻoʻona.
Shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch [their] tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.
4 “Mou teuteu kiate ia; tuʻu hake pea ke tau ʻalu hake ʻi he hoʻatāmālie. ʻOiauē ʻakitautolu! He kuo ʻalu ʻae ʻaho, pea kuo mafola atu ʻae malumalu ʻoe efiafi.
Prepare war against her. Arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day hath declined, for the shadows of the evening are lengthening.
5 Tuʻu hake, pea tau ʻalu atu ʻi he poʻuli, pea fakaʻauha hono ngaahi fale fakaʻeiʻeiki.”
Arise, and let us go up by night, and let us destroy her palaces.
6 He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Tā hifo hono ngaahi ʻakau, pea fai ha tanu puke ki Selūsalema; ko e kolo eni ke kapa; kuo pito ia ʻi loto ʻi he fakamālohi.
For thus hath Jehovah of hosts said: Hew ye down trees, and cast a mound against Jerusalem. She is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.
7 ʻO hangē ʻoku puna ʻae vai mei he matavai, ʻoku pehē ʻae hā mai ʻae angahala meiate ia; ʻoku ongoʻi ʻiate ia ʻae fakamālohi pea mo e maumauʻi; ʻoku ʻi hoku ʻao maʻuaipē ʻae mamahi mo e ngaahi lavea.
As a well poureth forth her waters, so she poureth forth her wickedness: violence and destruction are heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.
8 ʻE Selūsalema, ke akonekina koe, telia naʻa ʻalu ʻiate koe ʻa hoku laumālie; telia naʻa ngaohi koe ke tala, ko e fonua taʻehanokakai.”
Be thou instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from thee; lest I make thee a desolation, a land not inhabited.
9 ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Te nau tānaki hono toe ʻo ʻIsileli ʻo hangē ko e vaine: pea ʻe toe ai ho nima ki he ngaahi vaʻa ʻo hangē ko e tangata ʻoku toli ʻae fua ʻoe vaine.”
Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: They shall thoroughly glean like a vine the remnant of Israel: turn back thy hand, as a grape-gatherer unto the baskets.
10 Te u lea mo valoki kia hai, koeʻuhi ke nau fanongo? Vakai, kuo tāpuni honau telinga, pea ʻoku ʻikai te nau faʻa ongoʻi; vakai, ko e meʻa manuki kiate kinautolu ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova; ʻoku ʻikai te nau fiefia ki ai.
To whom shall I speak and testify, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of Jehovah is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
11 Ko ia kuo u fonu ʻi he houhau ʻo Sihova; ʻoku ou fiu ʻi he taʻofi: “Te u lilingi atu ia, ki he fānau ʻoku ʻi he hala; pea ki he fakataha ʻae kau talavou, ʻio, ʻe ʻave ʻae tangata mo hono uaifi, ʻae motuʻa pea mo ia ʻoku lahi hono ngaahi ʻaho.
And I am full of the fury of Jehovah, I am weary with holding in. Pour it out upon the children in the street, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken; the aged with him [that is] full of days.
12 “Pea ʻe maʻu ʻe he kakai kehe honau ngaahi fale, mo e ngaahi ngoue, fakataha mo honau ngaahi uaifi: he te u mafao atu hoku nima ki he kakai ʻoe fonua, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.’
And their houses shall be turned unto others, [their] fields and wives together; for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah.
13 “He ʻoku nau taki taha manumanu mei he iiki ʻo aʻu ki he lalahi; pea taki taha fai kākā mei he palōfita, ʻio, ʻo aʻu ki he taulaʻeiki.
For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them, every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest, every one dealeth falsely.
14 Kuo nau fakamoʻui kākā foki ʻae lavea ʻoe ʻofefine ʻo hoku kakai, ʻonau pehē, ‘Fiemālie, fiemālie;’ ka ʻoku ʻikai ha fiemālie.
And they have healed the breach of the daughter of my people lightly, saying, Peace, peace! when there is no peace.
15 He naʻa nau mā ʻi heʻenau fai meʻa fakalielia?
Are they ashamed that they have committed abomination? Nay, they are not at all ashamed, neither know they what it is to blush. Therefore they shall fall among them that fall; at the time that I visit them they shall stumble, saith Jehovah.
16 ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Mou tuʻu ʻi he ngaahi hala, ʻo mamata, pea fehuʻi ki he ngaahi motuʻa hala, ‘Ko e fē ʻae hala lelei?’ Pea mou ʻaʻeva ʻi ai, pea te mou ʻilo ʻae fiemālie ki homou laumālie. Ka naʻa nau pehē, ‘ʻE ʻikai te mau ʻeveʻeva ai.’
Thus saith Jehovah: Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the ancient paths, which is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk [therein].
17 Pea naʻaku fakanofo kiate kimoutolu foki ʻae kau tangata leʻo, ʻo pehē, ‘Fanongo ki he leʻo ʻoe meʻalea.’ Ka naʻa nau pehē, ‘ʻE ʻikai te mau fanongo.’
Also I have set watchmen over you: — Hearken ye to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
18 “Ko ia mou fanongo, ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga, pea ʻilo ʻe he fakataha ʻoe kakai, ʻae meʻa ʻaia ʻoku ʻiate kinautolu.
Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O assembly, what is among them.
19 Fanongo, ʻe māmani: vakai, te u ʻomi ʻae kovi ki he kakai ni, ko e fua ʻo ʻenau ngaahi mahalo, koeʻuhi naʻe ʻikai te nau fanongo ki heʻeku ngaahi lea, pe ki heʻeku fono, ka kuo nau liʻaki ia.
Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, the fruit of their thoughts; for they have not hearkened unto my words, and as to my law, they have rejected it.
20 He ko e hā hono ʻaonga ke ʻomi ʻae meʻa namu kakala kiate au mei Sipa, pea mo e tō huʻamelie mei he potu mamaʻo? ʻoku ʻikai lelei kiate au homou ngaahi feilaulau tutu, pea ʻoku ʻikai huʻamelie kiate au homou ngaahi feilaulau.”
To what purpose should there come to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? Your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor are your sacrifices pleasing unto me.
21 Ko ia ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Vakai, te u ʻai ʻae ngaahi tūkiaʻanga ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kakai ni, pea ʻe tūkia fakataha ai ʻae ngaahi tamai pea mo e ngaahi foha; pea ʻe malaʻia ʻae kaungāʻapi mo honau kāinga.”
Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall over them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.
22 ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Vakai, ʻoku haʻu ha kakai mei he fonua ʻi he tokelau, pea ʻe fakatupu ʻae kakai lahi mei he ngataʻanga ʻo māmani.
Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation is stirred up from the uttermost parts of the earth.
They lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as a man for the battle, against thee, daughter of Zion.
24 Kuo tau fanongo ki hono ongoongo: ʻoku vaivai hotau nima; kuo maʻu ʻakitautolu ʻe he mamahi, ʻo hangē ko e langā ha fefine ke fāʻele.
We have heard the report thereof: our hands are grown feeble; anguish hath taken hold of us, pain as of a woman that travaileth.
25 ʻOua naʻa ʻalu ki he ngoue, pe ʻeveʻeva ʻi he hala; he ʻoku ʻi he potu kotoa pē ʻae heletā ʻoe fili mo e fakailifia.
Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for [there is] the sword of the enemy, terror is on every side.
26 ʻE ʻofefine ʻo hoku kakai ke ke nonoʻo ʻaki koe ʻae tauangaʻa, pea fetafokifokiaki koe ʻi he efuefu; ke ke mamahi, ʻo hangē ko e fai ki he foha pe taha, ko e tangilāulau mamahi: koeʻuhi ʻe haʻu fakafokifā pe kiate koe ʻae fakaʻauha.
Daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and roll thyself in ashes: make mourning, [as] for an only son — bitter lamentation; for the spoiler cometh suddenly upon us.
27 “Kuo u fakanofo koe ko e ʻahiʻahi, mo e fakamaʻa ki hoku kakai, koeʻuhi ke ke ʻiloʻi mo ʻahiʻahi ki heʻenau anga.
I have set thee among my people as an assayer, a fortress, that thou mayest know and try their way.
28 Ko e kau angatuʻu fakamamahi ʻakinautolu kotoa pē, ko e kau lauʻi kovi: ko e palasa mo e ukamea ʻakinautolu: ko e kau fakakovi ʻakinautolu kotoa pē.
They are all the most rebellious of rebels, going about with slander: they are bronze and iron; they are all corrupters.
29 Kuo vela ʻae tapili, kuo vela ʻo vai ʻae pulu ʻi he afi; ʻoku fai ʻae haka taʻeʻaonga ʻe he fakamaʻa: he ʻoku ʻikai mavahevahe ʻae kovi.
The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed by the fire; they have melted, and melted in vain; and the bad are not plucked away.
30 ʻE ui ʻakinautolu ʻe he kakai ko e siliva kākā, koeʻuhi kuo liʻaki ʻakinautolu ʻe Sihova.”
Reprobate silver shall they call them, for Jehovah hath rejected them.
